Photo (1) taken in 1975 (against Manchester United) showing "The Grader" and the right hand side of the old Witton End, as well as the old club buildings that were demolished a few years later. The second shows Ron after our LCF semi final win against Chester, alongside our 1957 FA Cup winning manager Eric Houghton and seated, Chris Nichol and a bit of the head of Ian Ross between someone who agreed to have a stand named after him (love to see those two ex-managers together):

Where Grealish is concerned I just see too many barriers in the way of that transfer happening.
From his point of view he'd have to make a lot of concessions i.e. a massive drop in wages, understanding he wouldn't be the main man (that's Emery now), he wouldn't be captain, nor the focal point of how we play. His dream return it would not be.
Financially, to us, it would be a massive risk and I don't see us taking those kinds of risks, especially in the current climate.
From a footballing point of view, he's still got plenty of quality and I've no doubt Emery would be able to extract the best out of him, where we are going we do need quality players, but it has to be the right fit. I think we have more pressing matters than his position or skillset and that's where our budget should be going.
Agreed. He is one of our own though and if he really wants to show that, and finish his career winning things at his club, then a move back home should appeal more than those concessions.
His Citeh move did give him several medals, a healthy bank balance and consistent England call-ups. His England squad place is now open to question again though and future medals will be won as a squad player, rather than as a regular first team starter. I wouldn't be shocked if Jack is now looking at us and thinking:

Grealish possibly being flogged in the summer - would he fit in an Emery team?
Would he want to come? Could we afford him thanks to FFP? Would UE want him? I suspect that all three answers may well be:
I suspect that he will return in a few years, like Ashley did though.

what have 'lefties' got to do with it? what an odd tweet!
Gives a whole new meaning to those old chants of "The left side" & "The right side", doesn't it? Trust the Noses to get all political about it, but I guess the Peaky Blinders were associated with Oswald Mossley at one point...

Murillo would be worth looking at if Forest do have a "fire sale", but I guess FFP would prevent us buying anyone from them, even if they did.

I see that not everyone is giving Rowett a warm welcome on KRO, Albert has said:
"Fcukin hate the cnut rowett, the aston loving cock.... having said that, i won't behave like some of the tools did that abused rooney at his very first home game. I wish it wasn't him coming in but needs must." I hope Agent Gary reads those subtle words of encouragement, before he takes them down to Division One!

I wouldn’t play him, but we lack cms so there is some argument for him going
He's only 182 cms tall, so his height doesn't swing it for me either.

I don’t like West Ham fans and hate it when they say, it’s not the West Ham way (whatever that is) but I completely agree with them regarding wanting Moyes out. They have some very good players but that dinosaur Moyes is happy to have 11 men behind the ball.
I think that Moyes is doing a splendid job. The fact that West Ham fans aren't happy is an absolute bonus. West Ham fans seem to think that it is still the 1960s, they have a couple of decent players, but they haven't got Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst anymore, or even Trevor Brooking, to be able to play "the West Ham Way". There's every chance that a new manager will have them back as the "yoyo club" that they have been more recently (prior to Moyes). Next time we visit, will bring all of our first team with us and give them another good hiding.

The subs made the difference! Cash blocked a potential winner, Zaniolo scored one and Diaby got us on the front foot.
I would have taken this vital point before the game and we got it. Two “goals” correctly disallowed by VAR (eventually), 12 additional "Fergie Time" minutes (where did the ref get that?) and 70% possession, but the final result won't be welcomed everywhere!

JWP. Don't give him a kick Villa!

Zaniolo!!!

Right, now learn from that Villa!

Another goal just after the break!

Started well, but let West Ham into it and now we have a mountain to climb. There is a case to be made for substituting Langlet and going to a back 4, as well as bringing off Duran and Rogers, who aren't doing a lot.

Lenglet.....

"On balance, I think West Ham deserve that" I can't stand that woman!

I’m sure they’ve won this season… just can’t remember anything in 2024 bar abject results (Freiburg aside) and fans disliking Moyes.
They beat Brentford 4-2 last month.

The squad depletion point is fair… but is it really such a difficult place to go? Arsenal did them 6-0. Burnley turned up and got a result. Aside from hammering Freiburg, have they even won at home this year?
6 wins, 5 draws and 3 league defeats.

Some United fans think they can get 4th. Apparently they have only lost 2 in 2024 and both Martinez and Hoiland are back. I think their record is quite good when they are both in the team.
They would need Best, Law, Charlton, Giggs and Cantona back too, as well as Busby or Ferguson back to manage them.

That's the toughest route to winning it that we could have drawn. Lille, then if all goes as the bookies anticipate, Fenerbahce and Fiorentina. So the tournament favourites will potentially face the next three clubs in the betting. That said, the Lille representatives didn't seem too happy about drawing us, I think they were all thinking something like this:
