  1. Depends on wages but Barry would be a great addition! At the end of his career so may play for cheap! And even if you bring him in to bring on the young lads and act as back up or just the calm head for big games! If the wages are too high though - which is why I imagine he has said hes happy to see out his Man City contract.... Really dont understand the way he is treated by some people. Did over 10 years at Villa and left to win the premier league and more than double his wages - dont think there are many people in the world that wouldnt do that given the opportunity! Even when he had all the media going on when he asked to leave, he still played with his heart on his sleeve whenever he came on and was our best player on the picth by a long way!
  2. More people wanting to praise him for behaving like any decent human being would do on 70k every 4/5 years - not 70k a week. I really do despair. He did nothing last season to deserve any credit. Valid point but he didnt chose to be on 70k a week! We offered that in the past. If you were paid 70k a week but sat on the bench would you dispute that?? Agree with earlier posts, the guy has acted professionally and when given the chance done the business! Would be a great addition to most teams and unfortunate that Benteke came in and did the business from the start!
  3. Think he would be a great addition to the Crystal Palace midfield if that is true, potentially making them one less team to worry about if we do somehow wind up in the relegation fight (which the way this preseason is going so far I am thinking we could avoid it!!)
  4. I think for what Lambert had available to him he did a pretty good job in all honesty... Dunne was out all season and Vlarr was out at times throughout this season so we've at times had a very young back 4. This will be his first full season where he's going to have chance to assess the club and bring in players he wants to. I say judge the man as a whole at the end of this coming season where I'd like to believe we've finally had that 'transitional' season done now. That and he seems to be getting rid of the deadwood. I only hope people will come in for them. Especially Hutton, lord knows who would want him. He comes back from a loan spell having played in a team that gets relegated and calls it a success. Am I missing something entirely? Does he consider just playing a football a success? Fully agree with this, and an earlier post that the defence was shoddy last year because it had no protection in the transitional phase of our midfield, which effectively wasnt lamberts fault as we lost a key player in Petrov early on in the year; who gave that solidarity in the middle of the park. And one can only think Lambert thought the big money players such as Ireland, Nzogbia, Dunne would be available and performing! Looking at the options we have available at CB and with what Okore will hopefully bring to the table I dont think we will be too bad. Hopefully Vlaar wont be so injury ridden and the two young lads will have the benefits of getting through last years woes. Still think a good solid CM would be a useful addition but even the lads in the middle of the park will be maturing after last year. If Delph can keep his head he was showing good signs and the little trio of him westwood and Sylla was looking pretty strong at the end of the year! Think Lamber has a very positive plan and I am loving every minute of it! There is every possibility that the players we have, and have added may make mistakes and we could struggle but there is also a good possibility we could see some very exciting football at Villa park and a nice start to the season could really get us going well!
  5. This transfer window is amazing! Lambert is on fire! I know none confirmed yet but still so much action coming our way! Can't look away from the Internet for two minutes!
  6. Had my first child born on Sunday at 01:28am and then this happened on Monday night! Best weekend a man could ever ask for and I havent even drank!! Sadly didnt get to fully concentrate on the match to have an accurate opinion of MOTM but can safely say Lamberts signings showed a good glimpse of what lies ahead last night! Absolutely incredible! Come in to work today with the biggest smile ever!! If we can keep hold of Benteke and Weimann, aviod the drop, and dispose of the dead meet encouraging mr Lerner to put his hands into pocket, I think we could have a big year next year! Buzzing!!!!
  7. I think both have potential to be great players, baker looking more solid right now, would still like to see Clark back as DM, he looked very promising there a couple of seasons ago! Might give Westwood a bit more freedom too
  8. O my word, we might go down because bannan was dropped!? Smoke another one mate!
  9. Can't believe people think we should be playing bannan after his performances, what does he actually bring to our team???
  10. Lets hope gabby has a bug and will be back for the other big games coming up! Fulham are missing Sidwell so hopefully Delph can stay solid and keep his head on the game. Come on the villa!
  11. I think the lad is showing very positive signs, especially his 40 yard pass to gabby for the goal against Liverpool and the initial pass to Weimann to start the move against Reading. I think he just needs a good partner in the centre to be fair in order to give him a bit of freedom, at the moment if he messes up we are screwed. We still need a solid enforcer in the middle of the park!
  12. Due to the fast sell out Sat in R31 in the home end but hoping to have a few beers beforehand, any good pubs for the away fans?
  13. I have to agree with the changes and line up we put out yesterday! The point made earlier about us sitting too far back to protect a draw is bang on so the idea of bringing Dawkins on to give us an outlet because our attacking players were tired makes perfect sense. He has got a few things wrong admittadly but given the amount of rubbish on 50000 a week plus on our squad list is limiting his resources. Just praying we can somehow manage 9 points from reading qpr and Wigan and nick a couple of points here and there!
  14. Any news of more tickets being allocated? Seems like a lot of interest in this game! or a neutral ish home area?
