It’s not really about that currently because 4th is something we can sort of control. It’s more the fact that the PL is now unlikely to get another champs league spot based on results from tonight’s Dortmund v Atleti game.

If PL doesn't get 5th spot it will more likely be result of Arsenal and Liverpool going out this round, not Dortmund going through.

    Draw is 1 each.

Win is 2 for winner, 0 for loser.

    Pens/ET don't add anything.

4 points to be handed out across both matches regardless of any results.

Thanks, again, even in worst case scenario City going out wouldn't be the end of our hopes either, Arsenal beating Bayern is crucial however and it all hinges on this tie really.

If they both win. We can add on...

    • 4 points for them both winning, 2 each
    • 2 points for them both appearing in SF
    • 4 points because there are 4 points to be handed out during the two SF matches. Doesn't matter the results, England get 4 points
    • 1 point for one team being in the final

So two wins is as good as 11 points being plonked through the coefficient wood chipper.

2 semi games can end in draws can they not? Not sure how the penalty game would count, but that would give 3 points the ceiling.

How are Spurs fans going to feel knowing that Arsenal knocking Bayern out is how they get CL football next season 😂

Quite weird given they were happier for us to win vs them. Strange lot, would rather see Arsenal lose then them succeed

And….We might not be able to continue that. We could lose to Bournemouth this weekend…  we could also win. Sure.

Personally, if 5th isn’t going to be CL then I’d be happy with us exiting the ECL to just have prem games to play. If we win the ECL and still secure 4th then I’d still obviously be delighted. I’m not an animal.

Well I'm sure we will  be going full out vs Lille, which means if we win there's 5 PL games left and 2 UECL games, the final is after prem finished. I'm sure the squad can handle that given the showing on Sunday, they look pretty fit.

  6. In fact I wonder if NSWE was waiting for the Premier League to pass the 70% revenue/wages rules before comitting, there's no other way to keep up with top 6 now then to rapidly increase revenues and new stadium is a must in that case.

The new board appointments make me slightly less nervous that whilst NSWE were good in supporting Emery's team to achieve footballing success, they were also happy to milk more cash from those of us of an increasing fan base that could fit inside an unexpanded and increasingly outdated Villa Park.

The two go together no? Stadium will increase revenues and with new PL rules our revenues will be directly correlated to supporting Emery's team with the cap of 70% revenue to wages.

Remember how harsh we were on him at the beginning of the season. I really hate football fans sometimes.

Beginning of the season? More like few games back 🤣

Could the reason we paused the development that we were waiting for these developments? And they'll kick off again soon now that it's done?

This goes beyond of just developing one stand of current stadium, this investment and establish this board seems to indicate far bigger task at hand.

The evidence of the thread seems to suggest to me that people are more annoyed about Liverpool losing to Atalanta than they are happy about us beating Lille. I know there's a selection effect because it's the Champions League qualification thread. But in practice it seems a lot of people (and I get this, it was my first reaction too) are drawn to the negative, not the positive.

It's very likely Villa needs the added CL revenue to keeps its best team in absurd amount of years intact and together so you can't be surprised. We're both delighted and anxious

    So next week, pessimisticly

    City - win and through - +0.25

Arse - loss and out -  0.285 to germans

West Ham - draw - and out - +0.125 to us, 0.142 to germans

    Liverpool - win - and out - +0.25

    Us - draw - and through - +0.125

    Atletico to beat Dortmund

    Germans - 17.213

    England - 17.5

Leaves the the germans and us with x2 teams each left. You'd fancy city in the semis, and you'd fancy us to match BL's run.

Leverkusen gets extra 1 point for qualifying to semis which Conference League doesn't get
