  1. Who hit the bar? I thought Tonev was very poor - I'd add Sylla and Bacuna into that list too. I thought they were both colour blind at one point. They spent more time passing it to blue and white shirts than their own. I'd heard a lot about your much improved defence but it appeared very shaky in the first half - we were running through at free will. The lad who stood out for me was Westwood in the second. The rest were abject in the first half but certainly bettered their performance in the second half.
  2. How many of those were Tonev's grass cutters and Sylla's efforts which were closer to the top of the Brummie than the goal?
  3. Be interesting if we could actually play our first team from the first whistle. The first was a good goal, the second was gifted. The game should of been out of our reach but with our first team I don't think we'd of been in that position. Indeed. We were missing Billy Jones, Liam Ridgewell and Ben Foster - all three of those are important cogs in our back five.
  4. Can't believe we managed to create a way of throwing that away - you were abject in the first half and improved in the second. It was obvious to us all that once you got the first that the equaliser wouldn't be far away. We were good in the first half - I do believe we can play better - but we really should have put the game behind you. Sessegnon should really be scoring one of those chances if not both. We've ended up regretting those misses. Fairplay to Lambert for making the changes - they changed the momentum of the game and got you a well earned point in a classic game of two halves. We really shouldn't have given you that option though unfortunately. Still, never mind.
  5. Both Mulumbu and Yacob are ahead of Delph in what they offer - they are one of the better defensive midfield partnerships in the league in my opinion. They have been instrumental to our success and would compliment Villa greatly in my opinion. You also do G-Mac a very big dis-service who has been nothing short of brilliant over the last couple of seasons and like YM and CY instrumental to our success. He's forged a very successful parntership with Jonas Olsson. Billy Jones has improved greatly this season but I haven't seen enough of Bacuna to comment - I would imagine similar to what you've seen of Jones. I would agree with your Gabby shout as you're comparing him to a Nicolas Anelka who seems to be past it at this level - thankfully his wage isn't much of a burden - had it been the Anelka of a few years ago then he too would be a great addition to your squad.
  6. Tickets have reached general sale so I would like to think it would sell out. I'm unsure about whether we've offered tickets to the kids in the community which is something we do for home games as a part of the work we do in the Albion foundation. I would be very surprised however if it didn't sell out. Albion games under lights generally produce a very good atmosphere and I expect no different on Monday night.
  7. We've levelled out our pitch as there was a slant running down towards the Smethwick End. To make it all level, a couple of rows needed removing from the stand hence the deduction in seat allocations. Whilst posters have mentioned trouble earlier in this thread I certainly didn't see any trouble which warranted a further deduction (if that has happened).
  8. You were certainly robbed. There is something fishy about these decisions going in Chelsea's favour. A lot is made of Mourinho's unbeaten record at Stamford Bridge. Does it come as any surprise when they get decisions like that. They were absolutely garbage too. Looked more like a mid-table side than one with apsirations of winning the league.
  9. Whilst I don't believe that is the reason I would certainly question why he was allowed to referee our game given his Villa/West Midlands connections. He surrendered to the pressure but ever since we took the league he was itching to award a penalty. Warning us of any shirt pulling when defending a corner but allowing Chelsea to do exactly the same without warning - I wouldn't mind if the same rules were applied to both sides. The penalty however just took the biscuit.
  10. Looks like we've both been robbed at Stamford Bridge. An absolute joke. Good win for you lot today.
  11. He'll be a big miss but he's only come to the forefront since January. The early part of the season when we went on our incredible run saw Shane Long playing as the loan front man so we've showed that we can play in this league without him - equally, the previous two seasons have seen us feature in mid-table without him. Many seem to believe that Lukaku has carried us throughout the season, that isn't true at all and although he looks a very good player, there are still facets of his game which need improving and I would love him to finish his footballing education here. Our big problems are replacing Odemwingie who has been a very good player for us over the years. His goals and assists have been vital and there aren't many Odemwingie's around on our budget. We are apparently chasing a lad who plays for Anderlecht called Mbokani who from what I've seen is a very good player. A decision also needs to be made on Jonas Olsson who since being awarded with his new contract has been woeful, contrary to his early season form and form over the last few years which has been nothing short of brilliant. I do believe we'll stay up but finishing slightly lower - the beauty of the Premier League is that everybody is capable of beating one another which means it's incredibly hard to predict.
  12. It was a weird game. Never seen anything like that before. Honoured to have been there though, it's something I'll never ever forget. Man United were crap defensively but so were we, we've given away some rubbish goals over the last few weeks. Disappointing really. Glad you've survived and I look forward to our meetings next season. All the best.
  13. Quick enough to slag us off but don't like to hear it back. Does not surprise me. Out of respect to the site runners I shall leave now and leave you lot to continue. Good luck with the remainder of the season.
  14. In memory of Jeff Astle. From 8:01 which is the 9th minute of the game which was Astle's squad number at the club. Then all? It was a small minority. The irony in the scum comment is hilarious considering Villa supporters have previously sang about Tracy Andrews being their friend. And their is proof of that in this video: Your same supporters also chanted "let him die" to a person receiving CPR in the East Stand last season and you want to chuck around the scum comment? It's laughable, it really is. Blues fans often make references to chants and taunts aimed towards Aliou Cisse so obviously it seems to be a problem running through sections of your support. Also. I wish Petrov a speedy recovery, but it wasn't long ago when he was the subject of your boo-boys and endless criticism. Just a shame you couldn't support him as well as you do now back then - Take a look at the following link for example. http://www.astonvill...le.asp?a=504862 You want to have a pop at our fans, then fine, but make sure your own house is in order first.
  15. You'll probably be doing that before us No.
  16. Initially to carry out the questionnaire and seen as you've asked me several questions I have responded to them. I did say that I would come on here and reflect on the game from our point of view.
  17. Nor crying at all, just don't find "ungrateful swine" very funny.
  18. Apparently there was a few singing that song which is just plain embarrassing to be honest. Totally misunderstanding the concept of the applause.
  19. Should have donated it to the Leukemia charities. Something useful and an actual donation.
  20. Not my cup final at all, I wanted to beat you, we didn't, I accept that and move on and look forward to the derby next season or in a few years time. There was a small minority of supporters which let themselves down and as for the Petrov picture, it was reported by a Journo, but it was heavily criticised by supporters so I presume the club have opted against using it.
  21. Don't let it wind you up. Your fans don't care remember... Equally I could talk about the Villa morons which threw twenty and fifty pence pieces towards Albion fans, and the Villa idiot which decided to throw a bottle of pop at us but ended up hitting his own supporters..
  22. My brother sits at the bottom on the end seat next to the Villa fans so I'll ask him when I see him. I would hope not anyway. What exactly do you do? The clap was planned for Astle but as expected, some probably misunderstood the situation. There were certainly Astle is the King chants in the Smethwick at the time of the applause.
  23. So you were in our ends? I assure you. I've just asked several people who sit towards the bottom if they heard it, and they haven't. Even if that did happen, then those have obviously misunderstood the reasons behind the applause.
