  1. I do rate Given as a great shot stopper but he's a high earner and just doesn't seem to command the box from set pieces like a 'top' keeper should. Having said that how could we replace him with a GK of a similar calibre without cutting into the transfer kitty the squad so dearly needs in other areas?
  2. I was sure we'd end up with a surprising appointment from overseas but I was wrong. PL was a good player and is a good manager, I'm sure he'll do us proud. It'll be interesting to see what he does with our squad this summer!
  3. Is there any substance to this Holt to Villa business? Smells like lazy journalism to me.
  4. Grabbed those two on my latest Villa save and they've been great thus far. Thanks!
  5. Some one like Graeme Souness for example? Be way left field but nothing pleasant about it. Hopefully not someone like Graeme Souness. That wouldn't be a pleasant surprise now, would it?
  6. When we do eventually appoint a new manager it'll be someone from so far left field that he'll surprise us all. I just hope we're pleasantly surprised
  7. Sad to hear this After last season, the prospect of some nice attacking football played on the deck was very appealing indeed. Glass half full and all that though, maybe we'll find someone better to take the job in the long run.
  8. I really hope we manage to get him on board. It may be a risk in some people's eyes but OGS could well be the man to lay the foundations that take us right back up the table, at the very least we'll see some nice football at VP with him in charge.
  9. There's no way we'd take McCarthy. After the season we've just had it would be an even stranger appointment than McLeish was last year.
  10. Really made me chuckle that, thanks Whilst it's never a good idea to say something will definitely happen in football, I think he will definitely be sacked early next week. Keeping a manager who's had a season like this (regardless of any extenuating circumstances) is a guarantee of relegation the following year. I know the appointment seemed silly last summer but to keep things as is after this season goes beyond any form of stupidity and into the realm of actually wanting your investment to fail. Up until a few weeks ago I thought we might get a win today, go out on a (relative) high and he'd somehow be given until Christmas with his own squad but I think today's debacle is the straw that broke the camel's back for RL and he'll do the right thing.
  11. Sad to say it but I can't see us getting much from the spurs game apart from some more injuries going into the final match. With it being entirely possible qpr beat stoke at home the last game's going to be very nerve wracking even if it is highly unlikely they'll get anything from city.
  12. I'd like to see Benitez in charge but unless he's given some funds to play with it's not going to happen. The way things have gone the last year or so I can see us ending up with Steve Kean
