  1. I think many are underestimating Fox here, the thing with Lambert was he always had Lerner in his corner hence the dithering, this one will be if Fox wants him out he will be gone in a shot.
  2. Tick Tock, Sherwood media campaign is out in full force to protect himself.
  3. That game was hilarious, he played Gil, Traore, Grealish, Sinclair and Ayew, left Veretout completely on his own, then even better he decided to play Sanchez and Baker as CB's.
  4. I understand the spend element but he knew the constraints before he signed up surely. My biggest concern is what he's doing on the sideline and how he's organising his team. A player can only get better if you play him, Ayew played very well against Birmingham, the next game you'd think give him some game time but nope not a single minute. I was in the give him a chance camp however just look at that line up and tactics on Saturday and you'll realise this guy hasn't got a clue what he's doing.
  5. Darren Bent scored goals too, the point being if we continue the football of playing to Rudi Gestede strengths, we will be going down comfortably IMO.
  6. If you've ever seen him press a ball, he has the resemblance of a Lamp post at times in his game.
  7. Why are you judging him on things he doesn't even need to do? He's an out-and-out target man - he's just supposed to be in the box to get on the end of crosses and he can do that. A target man who struggles to play with his back to goal, he slows everything down, his link up play is poor. Considering we only have Amavi and possibly Bacuna who can actually cross a decent ball, I think he's poor, if you just want him to head in goals but for me I'd rather our striker do much more.
  8. You've got to admire VT sometimes. A thread about the main man CARLES GIL, and a post that masquerades as such... ...but is actually just another dig at Westwood... ...who doesn't even play in Gil's position/role. Top work! Well he was desperately trying to play Gil's role against Leicester.
  9. The pat on the back comment was from the coaching staff at Villa, not anyone in particular on here. It was more a point of what I think Sherwood will act on it. Apologies should have stated that in the original.
  10. That's basically because Dyche had agreed to go to them in the summer, but when Advocaat changed his mind, they appointed him instead. Plus Dyche got a good chance with Burnley to go up.
  11. Honestly I think he's shite. His build up play is terrible, offers next to no movement. If we continue with the Amavi to Gestede as being our weapon to save us, then the Championship here we come.
  12. Tim's post match comments were bizarre, and this is coming from someone who defended him. The comment about his players being boring by not playing the forward pass but he played a boring team himself.
  13. Gil is a superb player and as soon as I seen the line-up, I thought we've missed a trick, Whelan and Adam are not exactly mobile, so stick Gil in the hole and cause havoc, it's similar to what Leicester did to us, they knew Mahrez wasn't getting much joy on the flank so stick him in the hole to run at Westwood, unfortunately Tim has a huge ego and won't put that aside for the best of the team. No doubt Gil was slated for the corner however Westwood had 4 or 5 that were absolute shite, he'll get a pat on the back.
  14. This to me shows all is not well behind the scenes, our previous managers did the same, not getting out of the dugout, if you remember last season he never sat down. I'd be amazed if he's still here come December.
  15. Did think that first season we were in and out, this season is very similar to that one, we had 5points after 8 games If i remember correctly. Then we had the worst period over Xmas, and the same issues of finding the right team, think it was only that second half against Newcastle where Lambert finally found his best team.
  16. Mourinho just been backed by Roman, they are well and truly going to give us a hammering. Diego Costa is back too, so he'll get 5.
  17. I think when he was sacked we were in the bottom three. His results over his last 21 league games were diabolical – 12 points and in those 21 games 8 goals scored and runs of 6 league defeats on the spin and 5 league defeats on the spin. I genuinely have some sympathy for Lambert. He had a decent net spend but it counted for little as he had to reduce the wage bill which had a massive impact on the standard of lpayer he was able to bring in. Again I have similar sympathy for Sherwood. It gets spouted on here that he has spent 45 mill+ but is rarely mentioned he recouped most of that in sales and with that 45 mill had to replace the 4 best players he inherited in Vlaar, Delph, Cleverley and Benteke. Had we have kept those players given we finished 17th with them I’d argue to give the manager a fighting chance he would have needed 15-20 mill to spend. Like Lambert under Sherwood the wage bill has reduced over the summer. I said yesterday the problems at this club run way deeper than the manager. That is not to say that McLeish, Lambert and Sherwood haven’t/aren't doing poor jobs. I do though fail to see how any manager under the financial restraints of the last 4 seasons would have had us as anything more than lower third of the table fodder. You keep spouting the same thing about net spend - it's not relevant. The same way it wasn't under Lambert. Further, Vlaar and Cleverley (in particular) were lambasted by fans through Lambert's reign and certainly weren't in the "4 best players at the club". They needed replacing, but only for squad purposes. Having £50m to spend on a squad isn't being that restricted. I think Sherwood has bought pretty well and I think the players will (on the most part) come good once they're completely adjusted to the Premier League. However, he isn't some poor old soul with that spend. Benteke's sale price was over-inflated in any case. Disagree about Vlaar and Cleverely, especially since they featured quite heavily in our squad, so they needed replacing with better quality.
  18. Are you sure about this? Pretty sure in the first season we entered the drop season and can't remember after the Hull game we entered it too. However let's not rewrite history here, they are both shit managers and it's just a symptom of the man sitting at the very top. A rudderless ship that is heading in one direction. I was willing to give Tim time but for me Saturday was abysmal, that first half line up, then to mention post match that the players were boring by not playing forward passes or dropping the shoulder but he leaves Gil out. I honestly believe this guy is on borrowed time and he knows it too, he doesn't even step out of the dugout anymore, this is a sign as with his predecessors a man under pressure. Honestly think he will be gone before December unless results drastically improve.
  19. Interesting for those who claim Sherwood doesn't take responsibility. Said today: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-boss-tim-sherwood-10182875
  20. Basically bigging him up on Sat after the match, and again on Tues with his weekly interview with Jack Woodward.
  21. Considering Sherwood's comments about Veretout, think he is likely to come in on Sat.
  22. I'd agree with this, but i do sense that we are picking at everything he does. I'd rather talk about his real issues and that is still not knowing his best 11, constantly tinkering with the side. Also have concerns generally of the fitness, against West Brom, it was obvious who was the stronger and fitter side.
  23. According to a few of that famous thing Twitter, it was Wilkins saying Gil has to stay after their trip to Portugal as Tim was looking at bringing in Chery, due to his form out there, they decided to keep him.
