  1. Be interested to see our respective win-loss records before and after the Petrov freeze out.
  2. Anyone know why Petrov has been frozen out? With Young captaining this team, we're destined for the fizzy pop league, a leader of men he ain't.
  3. Awful display. I'm so over Ashley Young. Could've passed the ball into the back of the net instead blasted it into the bar going for the glory strike. Woeful team selection, it was so obvious we were losing everything in the air both up front and at the back. Heskey should've played. I'd say GH out but what's the point? If it was going to happen it would've happened by now. This team doesn't have the ticker for a relegation fight, today proved it in spades.
  4. Not a fight...more so a squabble I'd say at this point in the season.
  5. 4th place >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FA Cup Didn't Portsmouth win the FA cup a few short years back? I rest my case.
  6. MON didn't just give em a rocket at half time, he built replicas of cape **** canaveral up each of their arses!@!!!!!
  7. pretty bad display, they look bereft of energy and ideas. I agree with the majority on here in saying that MON needs to rotate his squad better. How pissed would you be if you were Luke Young? Also, without Gabby in the team we don't have any kind of goal threat at all from open play, none whatsoever. His young shoulders carry the whole teams attack.
  8. Looked good up until about 5 minutes after they equalised, then we were well held. Difference for me was the way we allowed them to continually run at us, whereas we don't have players capable or more accurately willing to make those runs. If the counter attack doesn't present itself to us, we create very few good chances from open play, with set pieces our only real threat of scoring. Knew we were beat when they hit the front. We'd already run out of petrol by then. The lads worked their socks off today and I am proud to be a villa fan. There's simply a gulf in the quality of the personnel between the two sides. We're crying out for another option in the midfield and/or up forward. My MOTM was probably Milner just over Ash. Terrible decision to play Cuellar at RB today, his height and strength wasn't needed against the side ManU put out, he offered absolutely nothing going forward except turning over possession and then scampering back out of position to cover his own **** up.
  9. What a game! I thought we had the better chances in the 1st half and Gabby was a real menace up front. Ash was stifled like I've never seen him before by Bosingwa (what a Full back he is!). The 2nd half was all Chelsea bar a couple of corners and counter attacks, but the defending and harassing by villa (and saves from Friedel) were absolutely first rate. Fantastic defending by the whole back 4 and Milner and Ash came to life in the 2nd half a lot more (more so with the defending and tracking back). Gabby completely disappeared in the 2nd half which was disappointing but its hard to lay criticism at anyone wearing claret and blue today, they were all superb.
  10. roughly to Sesame Streets C is for Cookie Villa's defenders will keep you in their pockets Don't bother shooting, Brad Friedel's gonna stop it Our fullbacks can defend and attack We'll get the ball up front to Gabby and he'll put you on the rack Cause we are the Villa, that's good enough for me, Oi! We are the Villa, that's good enough for me, Oi!
  11. Been obsessing over making up some villa songs, how about this one: to the tune of Hot Chocolate's - Everyone's a Winner Verse Haven't had success since 1982 Ellis ran us like a corner shop Sold the club to Randy he invested in the team Now Martin's gonna take us to the top Chorus We are Aston Villa baby that's the truth, that's the truth Beating you two-nil(*) is such a thrill We are Aston Villa baby that's no lie, that's no lie we never fail to satisfy....satisfyyyyyy! nana nana nana nana nana nana nana nah nana nah nana nah Villa Villa Villa Villa Villa! nana nana nana nana nana nana nana nah nana nah nana nah (* insert appropriate scoreline here)
  12. Good win, comfortable. Friedel - 8.5 was brilliant and commanding in the box. Cuellar - 6 Just a game Collins - 8 Did really well, he can pick a pass this lad Dunne - 7.5 Solid but unspectacular Warnock - 8 Great game, didn't get forward much but this lad can defend. Feel so much better about the defence now with him in the side Young - 7.5 Worked hard all game but he's still searching for that spark of brilliance this season. Petrov - 7 Good game should've scored a nice snap shot in the box but for a brilliant save by James. Out on his feet after 75 minutes. Sidwell - 6.5 Didn't do much. Have my doubts about him as a starter in a 4-4-2, should be a squaddie only IMO. Milner - 8 Solid game, awesome penalty, fast becoming a Villa star. Carew- 6 Pretty ordinary, looks off the pace, still has the flick ons but looks clumsy with the ball at his feet. Gabby - MOTM 8.5 Great game son. Top drawer goal. All those who thought he was fat can now eat their words, the lad's fast and furious!! Subs - Heskey not on long enough to rate unfortunate to get injured Delph - not on long enough, other players seemed to not want to pass the ball to him. MON - Bit confused why he starts off with the entire complement of senior CBs we have at the club on the pitch. I think Beye should've had a run out in this game and Cuellar to the bench. Also think it was very silly that he kept Carlos on after he was booked. With the training bust up with Reo-Coker he's gonna have a job on his hands managing the squad I feel. Lets hope for some big cup runs and a continuation of this league form too. UTV!
  13. Got my kickoff time confused and only wandered in to find a Dutch stream after the 2nd half kickoff. We looked a little rusty tbh, especially Milner. But Bloose never really threatened at all and I always felt we were in with a chance of scoring. Why was Cuellar played at RB? interesting move, Beye injured or ill or something? Who provided the centering header for Gabby to finish, couldn't tell from my stream? Nice finish with the head. Oh how sweet that is. Young was certainly whooping it up at full time geeing up the away support, fantastic to see. Also, thought James Collins looked bloody solid, as did Dunne. We still lack flair in the middle badly. oh well next window ey?
  14. a cakewalk in the end, they didn't have a shot on (except Pantsil's effort into his own net). Great harrying in the middle by our three plus Ash and JM also grafted hard defensively. Ratings - Friedel had nothing to do so can't rate him Beye - 6 not sold on him, he didn't do much wrong, but I can't wait till Young's back Cuellar - 7 solid and assured Clark - 8 very good debut young man. Shorey - 7 not as adventurous with his passing today but had nothing to do defensively at all JM - 7 worked hard Stan - 7 ditto Sidders - 7 got stuck in and almost got on the end of a couple of chances Reo - 7 good harassing and chasing but not much going forward Ash - 8 some good balls into the box and trickery. Played centrally for quite a bit of the game and wasn't as effective as out wide. Gabby - 8 Great goal, very few chances today though. Carew- 6 didn't do anything wrong or right except the shirtfront on Pantsil. Could hear that from here in Australia excellent defensive team effort today. first clean sheet for donkeys at last!
