  1. And that's what's so disturbing. That a team can come into Villa Park, play like shit and still win easily.... Just incredible what's going on right now. i think heskey's shot that went out for a throw in epitomises what's wrong at the moment, though losing one nil is hardly them winning easily
  2. So why are many VTers 7 months premature? :winkold: There's also a good reason we have time to talk through the season. We don't all just hold our breath until season end.
  3. Total control would negate the need for MON and Randy to discuss it at all... MON - I'd like to sign Messi Randy - OK Then. MON - aren't you going to ask what his wages are, etc? Randy - No, you're in total control... :!:
  4. So McLeish is just here to find another manager?
  5. Or because the players chose to ignore AMcL's negative boring tactics and came up with their own. As ridiculous as this sounds, this sort of reasoning was actually used after the QPR game  . Man City aren't without their weaknesses. McLeish got a team to beat Arsenal at Wembley, so it's 'doable'
  6. McLeish did a great job with a small budget at Birmingham, IMHO. Whether that makes him good for the Villa job is obviously a huge talking point. The fact is, we've flirted with relegation in recent years, so we need to put that well and truly behind us before we can truly kick on. McLeish does seem to have a track record of relegation, so he's got a LOT to prove, shoestring budget or otherwise... The Board haven't helped him with player departures since he arrived, mind you....
  7. Keep chipping away is the only option. Hoping to break into the top six, earn more money, get more tv revenue, gain more success, win more trophies....etc. Bolton put an early stop to some of that, but we're still ok in the league....
  8. They can and it has been proven. Didn't say they can't. I just sometimes wonder how.
  9. A captain needs the right balance of skill, leadership, experience and be in the right position. Sometimes I wonder how a goalkeeper can be an efffective captain. Petrov hits all of these areas for me. Not the most skilful, but heaps of the rest.
  10. eatsnails... I love that mentality, it's always the way isn't it? My view is Gabby is worth nothing...anything we get is a bonus. Any player who wishes can simply 'down tools' and we'd be forced to release on a free, allow them to leave, etc. Players who are worth the most are the players who want to stay, want to fight for the team. Increasingly, this is not the modern footballer.... Sad but true..
