  1. I am sure he will stick around. The past week has proven the wisdom of the club having permanent staff on the payroll who can pick up the gaps between head coaches. Give him and the other perm staff a nice win bonus and a pay rise.

Perhaps Villa used Stephen Gerrard as a stepping stone? Maybe his higher visibility made it more possible to get Emery now rather than after Smith.

    Oh I like this!

If I speak I'm in big trouble.

Interesting about the corners. I wonder how their throw ins are? :)

Anyway I wish Deano all the best. He is only 51. His management skills and career still have plenty of room to grow. I want him to do well.

Mate... Please don't tell me you're still on this whole Canadian trucker freedom joke thing? 🤦🏿‍♂️

I havent thought about him for a long time I was asked so i responded. I cancelled him because I think he is a nutter. You are perfectly entitled to watch if you like him.

He brought up politics in his football pod not me. You think he was joking, I dont, because I saw him become unhinged before when Deano got sacked (in a now edited video he made paranoid ramblings about people believing in the government like they believe Purslow).

Anyway Its a free country he can have whatever crazy views he likes. I dont like his views and I am not interested in what he is selling. I dont come in here telling others not to watch him. Villa fans have a mind of their own. Seems like a win/win all around.

Well you'd think that is the type of player Emery will want. Remains to see if the board can get them in.

It will be interesting to see what kind of player he likes. From what I can gather (please correct me if I am wrong) he has not really been at a club where he was backed to any large degree? He took over at clubs with various players and made it work.

Happily here he WILL be backed. I am excited to see what additions he looks for.

I caught the tail end of the Nazi talk bleeding into the latter pages and simply had to find the nexus. The glass raise was a complete pisstake - it was an Alberta Rye whiskey. Alberta, by an absolute distance is the home of the Canadian knuckle dragging cousin f**king redneck - though there is so much more to the province than that. It is the Texas of Canada (resource stripping oil loving conservative province). The lead protesters mostly came from there - Tamara Lich is from Medicine Hat, AB and through the nonsensical Wexit wanted AB to secede from Canada, Jason LaFace of Canada Unity stated their intended goal was to dissolve the federal government, very Canadian!

The "convoy" and protest  wasn't limited to snarling the nations capitol either. A border crossing in Coutts, Alberta was blockaded. Ultimately this did somewhere between $5-8bn CAD of damage to the economy. These people did nothing but harm to Canada.

It was quite literally a joke that went directly over your head. The dude even lives in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver area) of BC. The greenest, most bulls**t-left leaning part of Canada on the liberal West Coast. This one flew right over your head.

Nah he knew  exactly what he was doing.  Anyway he is cancelled. Feel free to watch him if you like. Free country. But I wont because he is a right wing crazy.

One definition of fascism has as its foundation, the melding of corporate & state. That ship sailed long ago and both parties are quite happy with it.

btw, what religious freedoms have been removed? (certain)Religions are getting more and more exemptions and privileges as the years go by, not less.

My families religion (Episcopalian) believes abortion is a woman's right and in no way infanticide.

"The 1994 resolution establishing the Episcopal Church's position gave "unequivocal opposition to any legislative, executive or judicial action on the part of local, state or national governments that abridges the right of a woman to reach an informed decision about the termination of pregnancy or that would limit the access of a woman to safe means of acting on her decision."

My religion believes same sex couples are perfectly acceptable and make fine parents that the teaching of sexuality is a positive.

Republicans are taking away my religious rights (and the majority of Americans) at the state level and working on federal bans.

    So thats what I mean.

I agree about the definition of fascism btw. A fair correction. But there is no comparison between which the the more totalitarian /evil party trying to force its views on others. Its Republicans. Their dream for the USA is Putin's Russia.

  9. I am utterly terrified by the mid terms.

The fascist Republican party when in power will do what they have done in their states. Restrict voting rights, remove religious freedom , restrict freedom of speech, remove women's rights and of course all served with a slathering of open racism.

Republicans are a clear and present danger to American Democracy. 30% of the USA electorate are open fascists who want to remove Democracy in this country. Its truly terrifying for any sane person.

The USA already has an illegitimate supreme court which imposes its extremist religious beliefs on the country.  Wait till Republicans seize power. They wont ever let you vote them out again. Look at how they have corrupted elections in their states. You think i am exaggerating look at all the "moderate" Republicans who deluded themselves Republicans would never REALLY do what they say and remove religious freedom and women's rights. Never REALLY commit an insurrection. Until they did it.

Be scared and vote anyone but a Republican if you are a decent person. This November could be a nightmare for the overwhelming majority of Americans who just want to have Republicans leave them the hell alone.

I feel sort of punch drunk over this appointment. A real coup for the club.

We are in good hands and maybe we are finally destined for good things.

    I so agree.

I have a sense of genuine relief , progress and optimism.

  11. More excellent work from the For the love of Paul McGrath pod. An interview with Graham Hunter.

Key insights. Unai is an obsessive trainer and planner. He gives players hours of information for each game.

I'm on the fence with this

ALOT of Managers and players in the PL have different accents.

People do impressions as a bit of banter sometimes?

I mean, we take the piss out of English people from different regions for example.

I think we are probably now being overly defensive simply because he's ours?

Impressions can be done with affection too surely?

FYI: I mean in general, I'm not referring to Farley.

Yeah but to my English ears that old "lets make fun of peoples class and those who live outside of London" really doesnt sit well either.

It hits a lot of old wounds related to class and regional bigotries within the UK. As someone with a fairly weird accent from a working class background its always bothered me for example.

I just personally find cheap impressions of open mocking of peoples speech a bit mean spirited and not really very funny.

Someone further up mentioned good impressionists basically distill someones character into an insightful pastiche of the subject.

Farley just puts on a "look at the silly scouser/foreigner" accent,  shouts a lot and takes cheap shots at Tyrone Mings.

Anyways folks can enjoy whatever they like of course. Just my 0.2c as to why I dont like Farley.
