  1. Can't believe you are questioning peoples ratings in here and have rated Ireland below Westwood. Regardless of the expectations of him or his wages he has clearly been the better of the two.
  2. Really starting to question KEA, average at best again today and that was with a little more advanced role with Delph doing more sitting.
  3. The lad will be lucky to be on league one show in a year or twos time. Big time charlie
  4. ShocKed if Ireland starts and if he does it will be out wide. Mcleish doesn't rate him at all and only played him due to neccessity. He keeps possession too much, can control the ball and works hard....why should he play him
  5. Hahaha this is a classic, fair play to the club, Instead of having fans giving out about management and chairman etc for a change, they have them giving out about themselves over "fans votes" and this award. Bigger picture??? Simple minds
  6. Ireland shouldnt be on bench if not fit to start. Should be playing
  7. Questioned the McTactic again? Or genuine, who knows. You are closer to the mark then you realise. More like pure speculation I would say.
  8. He try's hard but I'd expect that off any 20 year old tryna prove themself....wish I could say it about older players but it's simply not the case once they get a big contract, effort drops, unfortunately I don't rate him, he's typical of a youth player at the mo, plenty of graft, battling and shouting but his runs are very naive, hold up play is non existent, poor first touch And finishing has left a lot to be desired....has a lot to do if he's going to be a permanent fixture next year but at the moment desperate times call for desperate measures and he's prob the best of a below average bunch
  9. 2 1 win inzogbia and weimann, ream really is that bad.... Bolton to score late consolation
  10. Expecting discontent with the midfield pairing tomorrow based on people's suggested line ups
  11. Injured or not, considerably better than all the above again yesterday ( petrov excluded), topped poll again for motm, consistent if anything.
  12. Tried hard today but shud of done better with chances, Agreed
  13. or 'my opinion' points if you are having to refer to a lovely curler that wasn't even that close to going in then you are proving my points for me Opinions.....right, glad I haven't wasted any of my time reading your other 3000 odd opinions. feel free to journey back and peruse them if i'll probably give the person who compares Paul Scholes to Steven Ireland a wide berth as well Stop taking things so literally mate, anyone can see the point I was making was you don't have to be able to beat a player to be a good player, if that was the case inzogbia would be world class,,, i agree you don't have to be able to beat a player to be world class.... but if you are a creative midfielder and you can't take the ball past a player often then you need other attributes to shine consistently... Scholes pings the ball 50 yards and 99% of the time hits the target... he shoots from outside the box and has scored some of the greatest goals in the premiership.... he produces pin point through balls where it is impossible for the striker to miss... he tackles back and gets stuck in.... Ireland does none of these except tracking back which is the least effective attribute to have as a AM Good footballing brain but falls short on quality... agree to disagree Will have too, because now you've just compared him to scholes properly

  16. Haha what are you talking about 1 scholes never goes past a player 2 his through ball is a pass not his fault Weimann and heskey can't finish 3 playing a lot deeper, lovely curler against united..... All in all rubbish points
  17. tippy tappy bollocks it is... he's being massively over rated by our fans this year for 2 reasons: 1) He was so shit when he first arrived 2) Everyone else in our team is utter gash if Ireland had played in a MON side along with Young,Carew,Downing,Milner etc he would be getting nowhere near as much praise... he cleared the ball off the line very well.. going forward he's as shit as the rest of them Couldnt disagree more, Ireland's clearly been asked to play a deeper midfield role, the majority of the players you listed are forwards and wingers anyway so not a valid comparison, His strengths are his passing, vision and speed of thought, any city fan will tel you he is a far better player with better players around him, That said he was STILL the most creative player today. Lost count of the amount of times he got his head up looked around and no one was in space one of the only players to get Weimann in behind the defence, excellent quick pass into heskeys feet at one stage in the area and had bannan squared the ball he blazed over the bar he had a clear shot on goal for 12 yards, He did the stuff he is not associated with very well again today ie. Excellent goal line clearance, lots of pressing, kept going til the end,
  18. Whose fault is that, his or Mcleish, the manager has come out saying he's been amazing in training all season so you'd have to wonder why he wasn't played all season.
  19. I'm actually bemused by some of the answers in this thread So said I would have a quick look at the top 4 suggested players, looked at polls and ranked them highest 3 points, second highest 2 points, third highest 1 point, which I think is fair, They scored as follows, second stat is games played Given = 14 (27) Petrov = 17 (26) gabby = 19 (29) Ireland = 30 (16) Given that Ireland scored 30% higher then second place thus far, and has played at a minimum 10 games less, it shows the standard and consistency of his performances as rated by people on this very site, but when it comes to poty then ppl aren't having him, find it quite strange so little ppl have mentioned him, Especially when it also shows the other 3 played and were not recognised as playing well in the majority of their performances. Just because someone plays lots of games badly doesn't make them the player of the year
  20. Based on the polls after each match where I assume most of the people on here vote in the match day threads and the rating system which the club used for last months player of the month award it has to be Ireland....unless gabby finishes very strongly Someone is not player of the year because they got sick, no disrespect ment, but petrov was average or below for most of the season.
  21. Given - didn't look assured but blocked a couple of efforts 6 Hutton - can't defend, can't pass, 4 Collins - didnt Mark tight enough, cost us 5 Baker - tried but sloppy and not ready, at fault for goal 5 Lichaj - did well on Valencia battled hard 6 Bannan- Hollywood, no bite, no influence 4 Gardener - completely ineffective and grossly overrated on this site 3 Clark - tried hard, got attempt on goal, did well considering first game back Ireland - heard he was injured so decent display by him, grt ball for Weimann, good effort, most creative again 7 Weimann- no first touch, gave it away far too much, braindead 5 Gabby - interested at times 6 Heskey - good effort on goal 6 Currathers - lively, wanted ball 6 Did anyone notice how baker and Collins didn't know what to do when Rooney and well beck dropped deep. It was very evident for the 3rd goal if you watch the reply and is a good example ofwhat was happening all game. Collins followed wellbeck (I think) ten yards outside the box then at the most important time retreated leaving wellbeck with space to turn into and Collins in no mans land. This happened all game and was causing a lot of problems. The fact these players would do this should of been anticipated and a strategy devised to deal with it. They both looked clueless.
  22. Agreed, he has consistently been one of the best performers in most of the games hes started, glad to see its being recognised, Covered the most distance in the prem on sat so was inevitable he was going to tire in the second half against stock, still had the awareness to create a great chance for weimann at the end... and interplay for goal was superb.. cant really see who could be player of year besides him if he can maintain this form for the run in.
  23. since when does a player get ruined by getting played out of position stop being so dramatic...he doesnt deserve to be in the middle ahead of ireland or herd end of...its good game time for him and exposure....and quite frankly just because he was out of position isnt an excuse for him to give away needless frees, miscontrol balls and give away possession....he was dire and that shouldnt be ignored
