Maybe we tried to get a player on loan with an obligation to buy but clubs weren't willing to agree to such a deal? It's not as easy as we say we want someone and therefore it happens.

Has Pau ever played in midfield? If he hasn't then I don't think the knockout stages of a European competition is the best time to start experimenting.

If we need to make sales this summer to comply with whatever bullshit financial rules we're struggling with, how much do people think McGinn would fetch? Fully expecting people to not want him to be sold but when you consider he's 30 this year so he's approaching an age where we won't get a higher sale figure than we probably will if we sold him this summer. His stats are good but he doesn't score/assist in high numbers. Plus we paid peanuts for him so if we got £40-£50 million for him that would do wonders for ffp. Not saying I want him gone, just wondered about other people's thoughts?
