Keeper, centre half is a must. Left back is important but only after the other positions are dealt with. Anything else is a bonus

I’m sure Smith knows what he needs to do.

Exactly this!....need to sort the major issues first.  I don't think Smith will see a LB as priority.  Having said that, if we still have money available after we sort out keeper and CBs, then why not as long as it's not a shorterm solution ......we have had enough of them. I'M convinced that Smith won't go down that road (thankfully)

Why do you need to reshuffle the entire back four to change Hutton for Taylor?

All you need to do is replace Hutton, how does it affect the two centre backs??

Agreed.  We will be well covered at LB especially so if Clarke comes back from loan.  Both Taylor and Hutton have been fine there. Priority should be CB and keeper IMO.  Neither LB have been responsible for any of the recent goals conceded.  Smith knows what he's doing!

It’s daft having your first choice right back as reserve left back, as it means reshuffling the whole back four of the left back gets injured/suspended.

We definitely need another left back. And not Ashley Cole. I’m pretty sure that Suso, Smith and Purslow have already identified a shortlist of left backs we want.

Clarke (if recalled) can also play there as can Bree!  Keeper and CBs are far more important IMO!

Could you avoid the abusive, bad language please? You're offending me.

In my opinion we have one left back in the squad, Neil Taylor. And he's not very good. Alan Hutton can fill in there nicely but he seems to be preferred by Smith at RB so it leaves us short on the left.
I don't consider spending money on a position that we need to strengthen as "overspending".

Nobody said anything about Ashley Cole, nice straw man.

Glad to hear! Ashley bl**dy Cole.....I hope that's better for you (please don't call you're Social Worker this time) 😊😊

Goalkeeper, Centreback (for cover at least) and left back are all positions that need addressing in January.

Thats codswallop....we do NOT need a left back!  Unless you want to go down the 'Bruce road' where we now stockpile LBs as Bruce did with RBs.  Keeper and (CBs) are all we need. I think we have had enough of overspending, unless you want Ashley 'bloody' Cole?

    What a day,

1 Went back to old my old local in Cannock, watched the match with my son and son in-law

2 Met some of my mates I hadn't seen for 8 years or more,

3 Got home and Mrs T was lying on the bed wearing a Villa shirt

well 2 out of 3 aint bad

Which one let you down?....keep it clean 😊

  7. Great to see that we are playing the 'Newcastle way' (under Keegan). Outscore the opposition.... that's how football should be played!  We have both the players and the coach to do just that!  Attack.....Attack.....Attack!

  8. We should simply bin the PL league and let history repeat itself when we are the founders 'of a new league'. **** Sky and let them pay for a Euro league... that's  been their aim for s long time anyway!....,give fotball back to the people!!  Let's have 'sport' again and ditch the 'cashcow' aka Sky who have ruined 'the beautiful game'!

    He did sign him tbf.

And didn't play him.  And we all know how good he was at judging CBs!  I think that Smith will be less reluctant to play the kids when he has had a bit more time to asses them!

Without seeing Chester in the Wales game where he got injured, I am kind of hoping there are a few mind games in there and he will actually be fine to play this Sunday.

    Same goes for McGinn.

Hope you're right!  McGinn and Chester are very important to us!

  11. I think we should use him as often as we can for now.  I would start him in most games to get opposition defenders on the back foot and asess his fitness at half-time with Albert ready to step in if necessary!  Given our defensive problems we need someone like Yannick to keep the ball in the opposition half as much as we can!

  12. I don't think that Axel/Jedinak have started together as CBs.  It may turn out to be a better CB pairing than Chester/Jedinak.  At least Axel has pace whereas Chester/Jedinak have very little....just trying to stay positive in case Chester is ruled out!

I'm guessing Bedeau is of modest ability then? Some kids are ready to make the step at age 16 and want to. Obviously that doesn't come about too frequently but Ryan Sessegnon is a case in point. Grealish made his Premier League debut aged 18.

Gomez and Alexander-Arnold made their PL debuts for Liverpool at 18 and 19 respectively and both are now England internationals!

I cant imagine him throwing Bedeau in for his debut that would be a huge ask.

I think your probably right....but Jedinak doesn't inspire confidence, not for me anyway!

  15. It will very interesting to see who he selects should Chester be out for a while. Does he go with youth (Bedeau) or Jedinak?  I wonder, given our lack of CB options whether Bedeau has been training with the first team with with this in mind and that he will be handed his league debut?
