  1. Three cheers for SSN! Lets hope they've got this great news right. Better that Karen and the porno gang take over and appoint Billy McNeil as Director of Football than we get Benitez. Houllier would do a better job from his hospital bed. Even Bungle would be preferable to that Scouse loving waiter from Allo Allo.
  2. Well said Quinton. The thought of him managing us has got me close to tears and ready to explode! Do the people supporting him on here think our club has no identity of its own or do they want some sort of Villapool?
  3. What a load of cack. So what needs restructuring outside the first team then, Mazrim? By the way, do you watch Eurosport? I probably watch more of our youth and reserve than most or anybody. It's very healthy and I'm proud of it but it could be and will be improved, but that's not the point I took issue with. It's everything else in your post. It's this notion again, a shortsighted flawed notion, that suggesting a foreign manager is the wrong thing to do, never mind calling them war criminals and so on. What the **** is that about? Also MON cocked a lot of things up. He misspent massive amounts of money on shit and average (as well as some excellent) british based players becuase he wet his bed at the notion of looking overseas for players. It's put us back years, not to mention the clearing in the woods walking out and shafting us. Nothing to do with Houllier. And no, I dont watch Eurosport. You're right MON did make some poor signings. So has Fergie. He sold Cahill and Fergie sold McGrath. But MON gave this club its self respect back after DOL attempted to destroy it. Barry to Portsmouth for £2m? Fickle fans, etc? I will always hold MON in the highest regard. My nasty comments about the foreign managers were a bit childish lol and all other things being equal I don't have a problem with a foreign manager. What I do have a problem with is appointing a yesterday man off the tired old merry-go-round list. To achieve success we need somebody who is on the up and for whom Villa will be their biggest job to date. Somebody who is hungry, ambitious and knows how to deal with our largely British players. Again - Moyes, Coyle or Lambert.
  4. What a load of cack. So what needs restructuring outside the first team then, Mazrim? By the way, do you watch Eurosport?
  5. Have you seen how the youth and reserve teams have been doing over the last few years some of you lot? This club does not need "restructuring" from the youth team upwards. And MON did not cock anything up - whoever appointed Houllier did! It's easily rectified, though. Stop watching Eurosport and trying to appoint Spanish waiters and former war criminals and get one of the young Scots in!
  6. Brummybloke, on players I take your point but think about this. David Platt cost £200k, Dwight Yorke £10k and Gareth Barry what - nothing? Darren Bent was £18m but Torres cost £50m. The market does not know everything and preconceived wisdom is not always right. Our Chief Executive is paid a lot of money and I expect more imagination and shrewdness from him than what we're getting (if the rumours of Rafa, Bungle, etc are true). We CANNOT compete for the cream of world managerial talent right now and I say better to take a chance on an up and coming manager than a Champions League club's cast-off. At the risk of sounding like a parrot - Moyes, Coyle, Lambert or Martinez!
  7. Brummiebloke, if appointing a manager who has already won things meant that we would automatically win things it would be easy. We couldn't lose could we? Trouble is past success doesn't mean future success. I'm sick to the back teeth of the same old people getting the same old jobs. Nowadays, the managers who we refer to as "the greats of the past" would never get a gig. If we appoint somebody who has learnt their trade at a lower level/ the same level as we are now, they will have a point to prove. They will be ambitious. There is also a chance that they will treat this club with respect (and eventually come to love it) and not treat it as a little post-Liverpool, retirement fund top up, like the Monsieur did.
  8. KHV are you a recruitment consultant? Why should the next manager have won honours at the highest level already? Why does he need to already have experience of managing a big club? If he has these things on his cv why is he available and why would he come to Villa? The answer is because nobody else wants him as he is a has been or never quite was being! If we are ever to compete at the highest level we need to take a chance on a manager whose star is still ascending. We need to get somebody in who is under the Champions League clubs' radars at the moment. I've posted on here supporting Coyle, Moyes and Lambert, but the lads who are mentioning Martinez are also making a good call. I'm telling you, though, if its Benitez there will be CIVIL WAR!!
  9. phil. is your surname Thompson? Benitez has the most punchable face in world football and he is a scouse lover. Apart from Trevor Francis I can't think of a worse appointment. This is Aston Villa not Villapool! Will you be singing "You'll never walk alone" when he takes us up to Anfield and unveiling sentimental banners? As for MON, I'd take him back like a shot. Was gutted when he left.
  10. The people voting for Benitez belong on The Kop and not The Holte End. We've just managed to get rid of one of the shell suit wearing drama queens and you want to replace him with another? He's out of work because the top clubs would no longer touch him with a barge pole. The Spanish waiter, like Houllier, is yesterday's man. With him in charge the Liverpool away fixture would be unbearable. We need a British manager who is on the up and not yet on Champions League clubs' radars. Coyle, Lambert, Moyes or Hughes! As for the poster slagging off MON, what exactly do you want? Three top 6 finishes, 2 Wembley appearances, Carew, Milner, Young, the emergence of Gabby. MON was a Villa legend, on a par with GT, in that bracket of managers behind Saunders. He deserves respect!
