One of the more concerning things for me was a few minutes after the Morris goal we almost conceded again from an almost identical set piece

McGinn learned from the first goal and made sure he pushed him offside that time

He has 15 on FPL. And 10 on BBC/PL. Not sure how there's such a discrepancy.

Don't think the latter include being fouled for a penalty in their stats

Yeah, they're not gonna go down this season with Toney fit.

The question will be how they replace him this summer.

    They’ve already signed his replacement

but he walked down the tunnel under his own power so it can't be that bad can it?

I walked around for two days before having it confirmed as an ACL, I thought straightaway yesterday that's what he'd done. Really hoping its better news

It was the rumour that I was criticising (complete fabricated nonsense) but sure… I’ll slag this guy off too because he quotes any rumour from any source… the odd one might have some credence though…

He’s just aggregating links or rumours, they are not his own…

This is likely more BS but something or a player to discuss/debate at least…

Struggling to know what to post here tbh 😂

May as well shut the thread if we’re just gonna go with “no one knows who we’re signing, we aren’t signing anyone etc” but…

the complete BS, fake, senseless, stupid rumours are annoying too so

    I’m lost

    🤷‍♂️

    😂

It’s at least good to have something to discuss I suppose…

what I probably enjoy most is theorising on players who might be good targets (quality and value), fit in with the transfer strategy we appear/seem to be employing, and discussing how they would fit into and improve that first 11 or the squad…

we tend to mostly just bring up PL based players and names here* though which would be exorbitant in terms of fees and wages and don’t seem to correlate with the setup we have and signings we’ve made… I don’t envisage us shelling out on massive fees and massive wages from within the same league (we don’t even have that capacity really) who wouldn’t even be starters or better than we have…. I don’t think that’s an unreasonable stance…

*Rather than the sorts of players Monchi and Unai would apparently target/prefer, my personal assumption is that we’re looking all over for the ideal combinations of value and quality… but if there’s a “star” or potential star player that could enhance our first 11, we may go for it if a reasonable deal can be negotiated… similarly to Pau and Diaby…

Nedeljkovic signing is a good indication of our plans too…

La Liga links seem more likely, considering Unai and Monchi’s experiences there, but again… they have to be financially feasible and reasonable…

and then… there’s FFP but… I don’t wanna go into that again 😂, n it’s difficult to know our exact situation with that

oh well, it’s supposed to be a bit of fun isn’t it?

    Right?

    😂

I’ve wondered this the past few transfer windows, how old are you?

Not good for our winter break either. We play Sunday and Friday. So players get less time off than they should as a result.

I think the rest in January is key for our teams ability to compete in the remainder of season

I’d prefer to have an extra day rest than Newcastle before playing them than having 12 days ‘rest’ instead of 11

So our Chelsea cup match has been moved to the Friday night but it’s not on tv? Why move it then…I can only assume because of Newcastle early the following week. Good for players for an extra day between games, a bit crappy for fans travelling to Stamford Bridge on a Friday night in rush hour traffic.

That and Fulham also being at home, which has been moved to the Saturday night against Newcastle which should be good for us

We are joint top as people keep pointing out, surely any loses from now on will obviously cause serious disappointment with some fans

I can’t reconcile the second part of that sentence with the first, unless you’re assuming all fans are complete morons

Heard that eternal optimist Bardell saying we don't need any more players - we absolutely do and tonight is why.

We struggle with creativity against low block teams, so a quick thinking midfield player like Christian Eriksen is what we need.

    Someone like Youri Tielemans?

What a journey, what a player.

    No

And I'm sure Moreno would have had more than three if not for poor finishing also.

Same obviously applies to Digne though, Diaby should have scored today as the most recent example. Agreed that Moreno’s dribbling gives us an extra dimension

Looked more like the tactics than the personnel. Tielemans was much better second half. Lenglet and Carlos were fine. Duran didn’t do much wrong. Dendonker was poor but hardly a B “team”.

Tielemans was still awful second half, weird that you’re trying to take a negative slant against Emery. We were always going to rotate

I think Unai has f****** up tbh. He tried to be clever last week against Legia and now the same this week messing about with the side. Not a chance can the players be fatigued after a few weeks. We should be looking for consistency before tinkering with the side.

So he should play the same XI every 3/4 days?

Not really a fan of the "hasn't scored in x games" framing of things when it spans two separate seasons. Just comes across as arbitrarily cherry-picking the numbers in order to be as critical as possible.

Especially when it is repeatedly stated incorrectly as 11 games by the same poster, he scored the goal that clinched Europe for us on the last day of last season.

  15. 8 minutes ago, Spoony said:

But starting and captaining a team gunning for Europe? I’m not so sure.

He literally did this last season! Not been in great form so far but he was absolutely immense at times in the run in, he’ll get back to levels soon

  16. I don't think it's a coincidence that he looked very solid against Salah in May with Ramsey in front of him and Mings next to him. With no press and a high line he was a sitting duck yesterday, still created two really good chances. Was admittedly very poor marking for the third goal
