  1. It's fine, I've just been trying to promote it in other places as well, that's all. Don't think there's any shame in that!
  2. Hi everyone. I wanted to let Villa fans know that I'm currently in the process of making a new football magazine that will focus on all the league clubs in the West Midlands: Villa, Blues, Coventry, Wolves, Albion and Walsall. My motivation for making it came from all the discussions I've had with lots of fans over the past year or so, who aren't happy with the amount of coverage that the London and Manchester clubs get compared to the Midlands. The West Midlands is the second biggest region in the country, with some great clubs, and all of them have shown themselves as capable of winning trophies at various points in the past, yet in sporting terms we're largely ignored just because we have no clubs who are currently successful. I want to try and change that. If you're a member of Vital Villa then apologies as you'll have heard me bang on about this previously, but I've still got room for one more Villa writer. The topic is up to you: you could write a season review-style article, or discuss your opinions regarding Lerner's ownership of the club, or talk about Lambert and his 'buy-young' strategy, or rant about the players themselves. If you would be interested in writing something, then please get in touch here or via PM and I will be happy to provide more info. Finally, I've also made a survey which currently needs more Villa supporters to answer it. It's a short, 10-question survey which aims to find out about your football-reading habits. It's completely anonymous and the answers you give will help me make a more relevant magazine. It will take up no more than 5 minutes of your time. I've currently got 64 replies and free accounts on SurveyMonkey are only allowed 100 per survey so I'm aiming for that 3-figure mark! If you'd like to fill it out, the link is here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GLSSB79 - I've had some complaints about people not being able to click 'no' or 'never' to a question, so if something doesn't apply to you please just skip it. Thanks for reading this post, and I look forward to hearing back from you.
  3. I'm listening to Lonely Are The Brave by Maverick Sabre at the moment. I only discovered it last week and can't believe how much I'm getting into it.
  4. Pete Colley on Twitter: Pete Colley ‏@petecolley Following Being told end of the week for new manager announcement!??? It is Villa...
  5. It's even more explicit in Australia. Even the regular TV commentators work the betting odds into their commentary of the game as events change. Loads of kids grow up watching their heros and knowing how and when to bet on them. Exactly, but if those kids haven't been taught how to gamble responsibly, or about the dangers of gambling addiction, is that right?
  6. Apologies, what I meant to say there was that the messages it sends out to children are dangerous because it is subliminal (IMO) in the sense that seeing lots of it may help them to think that gambling is good or, worse, without consequence.
  7. I think this is an interesting question to ask. I'm going to say that yes there is, considering the danger that's associated with addiction to excessive gambling. Imagine that your child self is attending a match with your dad, or brother etc, and during the course of pre-match, you see an in-stadium betting shop, betting adverts in the programme, two kits sponsored by gambling companies (like Villa V Bolton), and gambling-sponsored billboards around the ground. The subliminal advertising might be coming across just that little bit too strong for those who could be influenced the most I feel.
  8. I'm hoping to get one of these next week. My local Gamestation are doing a bundle of a 3DS with Ocarina of Time for £199. I've got my PSP and games to trade in as I never play that now so all in all it should only cost me about £159. I'm only really getting it for 2 reasons, Zelda and Mario (to help me reminisce back to my youth!) so for that reason I wanted to ask, are there any decent Mario games out for it yet or will they be released in the future?
