  1. wouldnt have anything to do with the fact that it was with an injury ravaged fulham side no? they had a stable team, 11 players playing 22 or more games last season for them they used 26 players in total throughout the entire season we by comparison used 32 players and had 8 who had played 22 or more games, this includes luke young playing at left back and the disruptive dunne. They had a stable team because they have no depth. Their three best strikers were injured for the first half of the season. After Zamora, Johnson and & Dembele (and he never fully recovered) came back they were difficult to deal with. Sparky also gives young players a chance. He is a players' manager.
  2. games, lets see how many games he has won and his win ratio then lets compair it to others Fulham 43 14 16 13 win ratio = 1 win in 3 or 1.3 points per game Man City 77 36 16 25 win ratio = 1 win in 2.1 or 1.6 points per game Blackburn 188 82 47 59 win ratio = 1 win in 2.3 or 1.56 points per game so the BEST he has done was after spending £230 million pounds on players and he manages 1.6 points per game houllier for villa in a terrible season league and cup played 39 won 14 drew 11 lost 14 win ratio = 1 win in 2.8 or 1.36 points per game BETTER than hughes at fulham so houliers first season which had all sorts of disruptions from the very start was more successful than hughes at fulham. Oooops. Houllier was working with better talent than Hughes had at Fulham. Also, all of Fulham's top strikers were injured for most of the first half of the season - Zamora, Johnson, Dembele. The only one scoring goals was a yank midfielder. As for signings, many think Dembele was one of the best signings of the season.

  4. Has Martin Jol's name been mentioned. I think he would be a good candidate. No Benitiz, he is the one who destroyed Liverpool by spending so much on crap players. Hughes is a good manager, but not good enough to take us the next step.
  5. General, doesnt reading this tripe day after day, after all your efforts and Randy's money, just make you want to shoot yourself in the head. It's not too late. You could cash out and bring your talent to Cleveland where everyone will worship you, support you as the professionals that you are for simply bringing a 3rd division soccer team to the city. Cleveland has had success again and again on the pitch but it never lasts due to unstable management. But now the US has a stable league in the form of MLS and the lower leagues that hope to feed into MLS. Randy and you could change Cleveland's soccer disappiontment by bringing a team to MLS, a league that is catching the world's attention due to it's superior management. If MLS is too much we'll be equally happy to start with USL or NASL, doesnt matter what league as our soccer teams always do well and I know they will move up. Bring what you know to the MLS and let these hacks go. You know the US fans are way more supportive, positive, and helpful. If you want a true world class football atmosphere, bring it on home to Cleveland, Ohio.
  6. Beckham appears a good servant to England, but the way he has treated his current club is shameful. He was rightly called out for it by Landon Donovan, and he continues to behave in the same way rather than honor his contract or respect his teamates. That is no role model. That said, I would have a pint with him.
  7. General, Has the FA started discussing the potential of the winter break being discussed by FIFA officials, at least for the 2022 WC but I believe it has been discussed before and beyond just 2022. Would it have a negative impact on the club or do you think it could be worked out? Thanks for answering my question regarding developing club ties in the US. I'm disappointed but thanks none the less.l
  8. Hello General, Will Aston Villa be taking a preseason tour this summer? If so, when will it be announced? You answered earlier questions about partnering with football (soccer) clubs at different levels in the USA, but you said the time is not right. Are you able to elaborate on why the time is not right? The midwest has tons of areas with strong football that are still untapped by MLS or even USL teams. The Cleveland, OH area produces some of the best soccer in the country, having the #1 high school team in the nation, the NCAA champion Akron Zips, and youth teams that regularly do well in national tournaments. Two of this years 10 MLS Generation Addidas signings came from Cleveland, three Clevelanders were first round draft picks. Given Aston Villa's obvious connections in Cleveland, it seems it would be relatively easy and inexpensive to begin a partnership with a youth club/team(s) in this area. The soccer talent in the US is mushrooming, perhaps even exploding. I think Aston Villa could really benefit from having a base in the US, wherever it is.
