  1. Just signed for Celtic. Huge move for him at 30,,he'll give Joe Hart a run for the No.1 jersey. Fair play to him
  2. A good manager will exploit it. It's the same in other sports. Certain players will be asked to play at a tempo that they can only maintain for 60mins.
  3. We're in the 5 sub era now. Hard to underestimate the impact of this change. Like other sports it will become a central part of teams tactics. Whatever way we line up at the start, the game is now a squad game. Players and fans will need to used to seeing some of the more creative players held back until the opposition is tired.
  4. Deano broke that pattern. Brought us from the depths of the championship. Improved each and every player. We sacked him too soon.
  5. Delighted for him. Will be interesting to see what a confidence building good run of form will do for him. Right loan at the right time and he's grabbing the opportunity with both hands.
  6. Exactly focus on the positives. We got a glimpse of what Coutinho and Buendia can do. Hopefully all 3 injuries are just knocks
  7. Wait?! He's got 18 months left on his contract. Wtf is all the fuss about?
  8. Chris Wood £25million. Anwar for £15m is about right. We paid £17m for Bertrand and £30 for Bailey.
  9. Balague is one of the worst journalists in football. I'd be worried if he hyped Villa, Gerrard and Coutinho.
  10. I think he got the ball? Not 100% sure if I'm thinking about the same tackle, so ignore if I'm wrong. But looked like the contact with Ollie was via the ball. So you could say it wasn't even a foul.
  11. You serious? A moment of pure class from Ollie and you think he should have squared it!
  12. With all due respect Pochettino was highly rated and had done a great job in La Liga with a broke club. His tactical approach and emphasis on developing youth players (through necessity really as they kept selling his best players) had got the attention of media and clubs alike. Cortese appointed him because he perfectly fitted what they wanted to do at Southampton. Sell star players, develop youth team players etc. Gerrards not had to do that and when Rangers (approaching bankruptcy) tightened the purse strings he threw his toys out the pram. How many youth team players has he brought through in 3 years in a league where many games are won at half time?
  13. And we will all join you if it happens. In the interim, I'm hoping it won't.
  14. Fair enough . But it's fairly low for the talent he had. If he was truly ruthless he have left Liverpool, like Grealish! Anyway my point was without his name, his managerial record wouldn't get him near the Villa job.
  15. Well it looks to me like the club want a big name rather than someone with a proven track record. You're delighted because "he's a born winner' (incidentally, he won feck all), leads me to think you are of the same mindset. With all due respect to his unbeaten season from 3 in Scotland. He would not be near the Villa job if he wasn't a 'big name' For that reason its a huge risk
  16. Most of the this also applied to Roy Keane when he was at Sunderland. Given big management jobs to world class ex players, who are unproven at lower levels, fails far more often that it works out. Taking this risk after sacking DS is huge and border line reckless.
