  1. I thought we started wearing C&B before the Bartons Arms had opened? Not entirely sure, but I swear I've seen our kits in C&B from the 19th century and I didn't think it opened until the 20th.
  2. According to the article, Dundee are being eyed up by Burnley's owners, but it doesn't mention the other two. Isn't there a story that we got our colours from Hearts and Rangers? If so, it must be written in the stars!
  3. Could V Sports be interested in one of the three SPFL clubs that are being eyed up?
  4. We're in probably the best position in about 15 years to attract talent at the moment, but squad size (and one eye on FFP) could prevent us from doing what we want to this Jan. Hopefully Unai sees bringing in a RB as essential and buying someone versatile, like Geertruida, would mean that multiple positions can be covered by one player. I get the feeling that for other positions though, we'll be following a one in, one out policy. For example, if Olsen goes, we might sign a younger keeper like Josh Griffiths. If Digne goes, we might sign Acuna (though I'd prefer Barco). If Chambers goes, Ronnie Edwards. Dendoncker > Vermeeren. Traore > Summerville. Duran > Dybala etc. Having too large a squad could disrupt harmony and mean certain players aren't registered (especially as we have to balance the Home Grown quota as well). We also don't want the squad to grow unwieldy, as it could impact FFP down the line, especially as Champions League qualification isn't guaranteed yet. For those reasons, I think it'll be a quieter transfer window than most of us would hope for, unless we manage to sell the players above. If it does end up being quiet though, I reckon the summer window will be a big one.
  5. A small part of me thinks that Coutinho and Philogene not being announced yet means that we're trying to close on a replacement before letting them go. Slim chance with only a few hours left though. It's been a great window, but at the start of it I fully expected us to get a new GK and RB in. Then I thought we'd bring in cover when Buendia got injured. Hopefully Olsen continues to step up, Konsa acclimatises to RB and we fill the gap Buendia leaves though. Emery doesn't strike me as someone who panic buys or brings in players for the sake of it.
  6. Surely this is the guy? There were strong rumours he was off to Real Madrid and that it was a done deal, but a few weeks back it turned out ithe deal was off as Lunin decided to stay. Interesting point about the homegrown player though. This might be a position that's resolved later on in the window.
  7. Turns out we were a smokescreen! Here he is ITSOTP for Al-Nassr.
  8. I've not seen loads of Diaby, but might we be looking to deploy him as a centre forward from time to time, instead of signing an outright alternative to Watkins? Not saying it's what we should be doing, but it's not like we've been linked with an abundance of centre forwards.
  9. Don't think we'll end up going for this one. We've already got a left-footed centreback in Mings.
  10. Smart move from Sporting - spending their Pedro Goncalves money in advance...
  11. I wish I was joking, but rumours on Twitter suggest he's close to signing for PSG.
  12. Just imagine Buendia feeding him though.
  13. He looks to be an editor/columnist/podcaster at a Lens news website. Could be BS, but he's been loosely linked to us previously. Something a bit different to talk about at least.
  14. Google Translates as: Answer: "Openda to Aston Villa - the Birmingham club have met the expectations of RC Lens management. The Belgian international is expected to join the club coached by Unai Emery who will participate in the Europa League Conference. Lens will receive around €50m including bonuses. »
  15. Backed up by big Fabby Romano
  16. Can't believe folk are still criticising speculation in a speculation thread. As I said in my post, multiple people are talking about our interest in Brennan Johnson at the moment and I was building on a similar tweet from TrentVilla. I was trying to add something to the conversation, rather than deter people from posting in future (which we've seen in the last 24 hours with av1 leaving the board).
  17. It's unlike this account to pipe up randomly with a tweet about a player without them meaning something (i.e. there's something in the Brennan Johnson rumours). Whether you believe this account or not, the smoke is building on this one, so there might be something to it. He wouldn't be someone that I'd go for (I think there's better value elsewhere), but he's got pace, potential, knows where the net is and in Unai we trust.
  18. It isn't as simply as buying better attackers to get more goals. The build up of play, breaking teams down by keeping possession and working opportunities is much more important than in years gone by. Signing Torres gives us much better distribution. This is key in a system like ours when we aim to frustrate teams by keeping possession, forcing mistakes and building out from the back. Torres could be one of our most important attacking players, should we sign him.
  19. I quite clearly didn't say that you've done nothing or looked at nothing. I simply said back up your opinion, rather than dismissing links based on flimsy reasoning (i.e. plays in an inferior league at 26). If you have more constructive reasoning then I and everyone else would probably like to hear it, as it'll add value to the debate, but you didn't offer that in your initial post.
