  1. The way the fixtures are scheduled it's conceivable that Liverpool will be just trying to hand in the title race when they play Tottenham but out of it when they play us.

Also double whammy of them losing to Arsenal this weekend would mean City still need to keep going right until the last week when they also play Spurs.

  2. The only way to do it would be 2 rounds home and away as usual and an extra round all at neutral venues around the World. There's not really enough room in the calendar for an extra 19 rounds though so we'll have to reduce the number pf teams in the PL: down to 14 teams and then it's 13 x 3 = 39 games each, or possibly to 16 teams having 15 x 3 = 45 matches but we'd have to lose the League Cup and maybe even the FA Cup. Worth it though.

God. Stupid Americans eh... unable to articulate a single sentence and not knowing what is going on outside of their own country. ....

Btw.  Genius idea to connect vegas and LA by rail.  90 percent of those 50 million trips a year would be done hungover. Now u just jump on a train.

How many barf buckets per carriage?

This is one of those compact rides they give you from car rental in America when you get to the desk and they say "Are you sure that's big enough for both of you? I'd recommend an upgrade to something more spacious."

  5. Guess we''ll find out tonight or at the weekend anyway if they've been suspended, but shouldn't it be obvious from the previous weekend who was missing if they aware arrested unless they were already out on bail or are youth players that aren't well known?

There's no denying the GOT had some memorable lines, Sansa to Baelish, "No need to seize the last word, Lord Baelish. I'll assume it was something clever".

A cashless wallet may sound like an oxymoronic concept, but just check out this baby:

There was one yesterday where the ball struck Digne and it went behind for what should have been a corner. Officials gave a goal kick. VAR then checks for a potential handball against Digne (I don't believe it was) but the ball does clearly hit him. Penalty check complete and play resumes with a goal kick. How? I know VAR is not for reviewing things like corner decisions but when you have literally just watched a replay why is what actually happened then willfully ignored? I think a similar thing happened in Man City v Chelsea too.

It's at the point where all corners and throw-ins should be checked and given correctly. And it should take one second.

Looking for any advice on doing a long weekend in Porto

Planning on heading out in early June for 3 nights

What do you need to know? I stayed there for 2 nights, seemed very nice but I don't know much.

I stayed near the river in Saõ Nicolau, north side of the Ponte Luis. Seemed like this would be a bit of a happening area which wasn't much the case (not dead either), but we did have a craft beer bar (Cervejaria Cask Beer) and a port and petiscos bar (Wine Chalet) right by our hotel (Porta Nobre).

You have to be aware though that stepping even a road back from here is essentially going up a huge hill. You would come walk down it (dodgy knees aside) but up is a serious hike! You can uber easily and insanely cheaply though. It's only about £12 from the airport even.

The other district to stay up the hill would be Baixa, near the cathedral and the Mercado do Bolhão.

First time seeing the new badge, I work in branding and don't usually get too worked up about visual identities as there is hopefully usually some thought process or political aspect to the reasoning behind it, but must say that looks like a very USA centric sports logo and doesn't fit the Villa at all.

The drop shadow doesn't work either. Less is more, really poor logo.

I'd rather have your avatar as our badge than the Heck thing

It is, but even so they've used a frame where the ball isn't moving for the Coventry goal.

So it's possible that it's before his foot came in contact with the ball. The next frame (due to the insufficient frame rates) the ball is a blur so has clearly been struck at this moment.

So the event they're trying to judge took place between those two frames.

And if VAR use the second frame he's onside. They used the first frame where the player is apparently offside.  Ignoring the fact the lines drawn don't appear to be in the right place, but they've definitely erred on the side of the defence here. And that isn't what football rules should be. We should be giving the benefit of the doubt to attacking play.

But more than all that, we need to bring back spontaneous and instantaneous joy. **** VAR.

Agree with everything really, but I still think it can work in principle with higher fps, greater margin for error, and the help of automated technology that can call an offside on the screen in as little time as it would take to notice a linesman's flag up after celebrating.

Referees I want to review the footage on a device before they even make a tough decision, independent of (additional) bias or possible inferred criticism of their performance. I've been suggesting this for years already.

Both of these aspects together would actually rather render VAR as we know it now as obsolete actually.

It seems the point the var was taken from was actually earlier as the ball was scooped didn’t leave his foot till about two tenths of a second later

The rule is actually first point of contact with the ball, not when it leaves the foot:

We are never going to get this mythical "perfect" badge.  We can cry like 10 year olds all we want but a new badge won't be in universal agreement.

Yes the Luke's kits were ridiculed online, as was the recent round badge too. It happens all the time.

I think you (and others) are overreacting to the badge. This outrage is bringing needless negative energy towards the club.

Firstly, I am happy we are going to the biggest stage in the world - I want people to see our full name and our date of origin (heritage). If that means little to you - so be it.

If you want to whinge about the badge while we are doing well on the pitch & off the pitch - go ahead.

No one's asking for a perfect badge.

I would ask that they didn't take a horrifically bad initial design and tweak it into the worst badge in world football.

The word salad here to justify it:

Here you go, I made the protocol better

    Ref: ball, no pen!

VAR: He didn't get the ball so you should take another look

Then the on field ref can decide if THEY made the mistake or not.

The way they've implemented it is just horrific.
