  1. Trying to see the positives here. We have been way too dependent on Jack these past couple of years. This now gives us the opportunity to take all of our eggs out of the same baskets and spread them around a bit. It will make it more difficult for teams to nullify us and also mean we are more consistent! Next positive is the fitness of Jack. I am not convinced that his body is up to much. He has always had injury issues which could worsen with age. Now is probably the best time to cash in on him. Finally we are getting a massive chunk of cash in return. If invested wisely we could really become a much more formidable force this season and in the years to come. I trust our team to reinvest wisely and expect us to continue to improve year on year. Now on Jack himself. I am thankful to him for the memories. I have loved watching him over these past years. He really is an exceptional talent. He is soon to become a City player and thus he is no longer of importance to me. He is treating us very clinically and I will do the same with him. I do not wish him well as I do not wish him ill fortune. He is no longer in my mindset and is just another player at another club. UTV.
  2. Totally agree. We need to target clubs who are desperate for cash. That means shopping outside the PL if we do shop.
  3. I suspect that Villa are delaying the announcement just to try and teach him a lesson. I also suspect that our unusual initial announcement was partially due to not being able to get this man to shut his mouth!
  4. I had a bit of a wobble earlier but the truth is, nobody knows anything outside of AVFC, Shitty and Jack’s team. Stuff is clearly happening but the outcome appears to be uncertain at this stage. I think the likelihood is that City and Villa are trying to reach agreement. The devil as always will be in the detail. I suspect that a deadline will have been agreed. If no agreement is reached by then, Jack will stay, otherwise he is off. That’s my take. We just have to wait it out!
  5. Axel will be 24 in a few months and has about 70 senior appearances to his name, some of which are coming on as sub. I know people will quote what happened to Mings as an example of how things can change but he had a couple of serious one off injuries. Axel just seems to get lots of niggles. Would be a bonkers move in my view unless he was on a free!
  6. The thought of selling Jack for £100m and then replacing him with Tammy and JWP for a combined £90m makes me feel sick! Really sick!
  7. I do not see this at all. They are totally different players. Ollie is a hard working striker, great at working the channels, great with his back to goal, great at pressing a defence and generally offering an outlet for a team. Tammy is 100% a fox in the box. He is a Darren Bent type but obviously a better version.
  8. Tammy is a striker for a team who dominate the ball. He does not suit the way that we play. I would be amazed if we are interested and also very disappointed. If Jack does go we would be better off signing 2 top quality central midfield players and 1 top quality versatile forward who can play across the line. Add in a back up gk and ch and we are cooked.
  9. All along I have totally believed that Jack will stay. The events of the past few days have started to change my view. His behaviour is odd. The fact that he is not training properly is odd. The fact that we are suddenly linked with all sorts of new players is odd. The timing and nature of the Bailey announcement is odd! I really hope that I am wrong but my gut tells me that this now has legs. If he does go and we buy Tammy, Axel and JWP with the money, I would be really gutted to be fair.
  10. I wish villa would stop sending inane notifications!!!! I don’t care about training photos or the fact that Saturday is not sold out ffs! Do they not understand? Announce our boy or shut the f up!
  11. After all the hyperbole of the last few weeks, my gut still tells me that Jack is staying. Keep the faith boys. Our skipper has never let us down.
  12. Let’s show a bit of respect for our fantastic owners. They have saved our club. They have shown more ambition in their 3 years then anyone has in my 40 years of supporting our great club. They have backed up their words with actions every single step of the way. They have firmly stuck us back on the map and will continue to climb that ladder. Now……listen to this bit because it’s important …..they are extremely intelligent and successful businessmen. They will absolutely squeeze the very best out of this situation, whatever that may be. They will then continue to make us better and better every single day. So, please show them the love and respect that they so richly deserve. Finally, for all of you singing the praises of the great negotiator Levy. Let’s just remember how NSWE absolutely schooled him and put him in his place when he thought he could steel Jack from us for a set of tracksuit tops and a packet of digestives. If he does go, which he won’t, he will go for a hell of a lot more than he would of 3 years ago, he will go having given us an extra three brilliant years and it will all be thanks to NSWE.
  13. Yep. I will be there next week. I told you he would stay. I told you NSWE would not buckle one iota. I told you he would sign a new contract. All whilst counting my winnings.
  14. For months the media have been saying that Villa will sell for £100m. If there’s no buy out clause, then how can they possibly know that? I call bs on the whole scenario. The media are clutching at straws. Trust in NSWE.
  15. If nothing else this whole scenario is making Safegate look increasingly stupid. The greatest manager of his generation is falling over himself to smash all records to try and sign Jack whilst Safegate didn’t even pick him for England until a few months ago!
  16. My point is, we have the capacity to offer very attractive payment terms. That will be of greater overall value to some teams depending on their circumstances. Our boys know what they are doing. We should trust them.
  17. Let’s not forget, this may not just be about value. What’s better, £40m paid in equal instalments over a 5 year period or £25m up front? The answer is, it totally depends on the position you find yourself in. Cash is a very important commodity for all businesses. We have it thanks to our owners and thus adds a different dimension.
  18. I’m not having a go mate but why do you think we are embarrassing ourselves?
  19. Yep. Your offer is not enough. Come back when it is £150m………..
  20. Reading this thread and some of the rubbish on Twitter is enough to make any player want to leave our magnificent club. It’s also enough to convince any potential new players to go somewhere else. People need to grow up and get a grip. Jack will probably stay. If he doesn’t he will leave for a huge amount of cash and have been a massive part of helping us back to where we belong. Some people need to stop acting like jilted teenagers and enjoy these issues. Can you not remember three years ago when we nearly ceased to exist?
  21. This will only happen if they meet our valuation. If they don’t, then he isn’t going anywhere. If they do, then our leadership obviously think it’s too good to turn down. I trust them. Whatever happens will be for the greater good of AVFC.
