  1. Was thinking an external appointment. Maybe an older coach on a final big pay day.

    The note

Dear Dean. Please excuse my son from PE today. He has a poorly tummy. Best, Madame Sanson xx
  3. Maybe. If that’s true I would look at an interim solution until the end of the season. If we do nothing we are in big trouble.
  4. It’s all gone very quiet. Now is the perfect time to sack Dean. If they don’t do it now, I suspect he will be given until the end of the year at least. I can’t think of a single rational reason that an ambitious owner would do that but there you go. It’s certainly one way of tackling the waiting list.
  5. There’s plenty of statistical data to support my position.
  6. In my view Smith is a poor tactician and coach. His strength is that he manages to galvanise the stakeholders and create a really good culture. When he joined we were an absolute shambles. The whole club was splintered. Dean has bought everyone back together. He has stabilised our club. He has done his job. We now need someone who can build on his foundations. He has 100% taken us as far as he can but his role in re-establishing us will be remembered fondly by most, as it should be. I actually think that Dean would make an exceptional Director of Football. I would be happy to see him move upstairs and for us to bring in a new head coach/manager. It’s unlikely to happen but I think he could be an elite Director of Football. Sadly he will only ever be an average manager.
  7. The Henry rumour was bs I think. We never had any interest in him.
  8. I have eyes. It’s not impressive it’s just seeing!
  9. Agreed. JT is the only spine this club has had in the last 10 years. Without him we are a wobbly mess of gutless wimps.
  10. I don’t understand this. It has always been the same. Deliver or move on. Our owners have been really supportive of Dean. Much more so than most owners. You obviously don’t remember Doug. He would have fired Smith about 2 years ago! I agree that there are aspects of modern football that are distasteful but managers getting fired for doing a poor job for a prolonged period of time has forever been so. The only difference now to 30 years ago is that they walk away with a fortune in compensation. That’s the distasteful bit.
  11. I see it the other way. Bailey and Buendia are both good signings who will likely come good and really add to the squad. I just never understood why we signed Ings. If he was bought as genuine competition for Ollie and we followed it up by addressing our woeful midfield, then fair enough. That doesn’t appear to be the case. Trying to shoe horn Ings into the team has totally destroyed everything. Ollie looks a shell of a player. Our wide forwards are blowing after 15 minutes due to the work expected of them. Our already powderpuff midfield is under even greater pressure and incapable of doing anything well. This creates pressure on the defence. We cannot sustain possession in the opposition half which makes it difficult to create anything and thus we resort to hopeless hoof ball! There just does not seem to be a plan!
  12. During the summer window, I did wonder whether the owners decided not to over invest because they were uncertain of Dean. They wanted him to prove himself before parting with anymore money, enabling funds in future windows for a new manager should Dean fail. That could be crucial to not only attracting a new manager but also giving him the tools to improve our team. I still think that we have enough good players but we are totally unbalanced. A couple of carefully selected midfielders will transform the team.
  13. I agree mate. The balance of our team is very poor. We all can see that our midfield is not working and never really has whilst Dean has been in charge and yet nothing is done about it. Our forwards and defenders are made to look poor by the midfield. Bailey just looked totally perplexed last night. Our defenders and attackers are totally overworked due to the lack of control in midfield.
  14. I still can’t get over the old passing of the piece of paper before attempting to defend a corner. It just didn’t feel right to me. It actually felt staged as if the players were trying to make a point. Very odd indeed.
  15. A bit unfair. I’m sure Grealish had his part to play in setting the agreed amount. £100m for him is looking like good business now to be fair! We might be able to buy him back for about £20m in the summer
  16. Does anybody think that he might survive? Genuine question. We all seem to think that tonight was his last chance but who knows? Whatever happens ( I think he should go 100%) let’s hope it never gets nasty in any way. I still love Dean Smith even though I never wanted him in the first place. Bloke is a treasure.
  17. Dean has always neglected the physical requirements of the league. We are totally powderpuff physically and Targett is the worst of them. He is a tidy footballer with no mental or physical strength whatsoever
  18. He was great second half. Our best player. Get the balance of the team right and he will be class. Our awful midfield is killing us. If someone offered me £15m plus for McGinn I would (regrettably) accept it. He is a top bloke and a decent player but he totally unbalances us.
  19. We were actually doing ok second half until Buendia went off. From then we were just rubbish again. I feel for Dean. The players let him down tonight but sadly it’s time. Surely he can’t survive this.
  20. The players aren’t trying. There’s no excuse for that. I’ve given Dean plenty of stick but the players have a lot to answer for. Why aren’t they trying for him? Garbage from them.
  21. It does feel a bit as though Dean is sticking two fingers up at Lange!
  22. That’s how I see it too. AEG left, Bailey right and Ollie up top, Marv at 6 and the other two eights. If nothing else it’s a balanced team with pretty much everyone in their best positions. That midfield will have to play well but we can hurt them big time on the break. We’ll win this.
  23. McGinn is no world beater but he is miles ahead of Ramsey at the moment. Ramsey is young and inexperienced and the fact that he is anywhere near starting matches for us is due to a system failure not his incredible performances. He doesn’t start for any other PL team. McGinn gets in any team in the bottom half.
  24. You can get virtually 3-1 on a Villa win tonight. Firstly that’s absolutely depressing that the bookies think we are so poor! Secondly, fill your boots boys. We are due a massive slice of luck. We are not nearly as bad as our recent performances. Southampton are garbage. Score first and we win this by at least 2 clear goals.
  25. We will win tomorrow. Probably a horrible performance and a scrappy/lucky 0-1 victory. They are garbage and will probably go down. They struggle to create chances and are not particularly physical. It will suit us and we will win.
