    I’m surprised that Norwich have not gone in for him. He would be an upgrade on their attacking options and Dean obviously knows him well. I thought they might sniff around a few of our players to be honest. Does anybody know if they have got any money?

    It’s not something I have heard of before but from a legal point of view, it’s easily done. They will need to ensure that the wording of both agreements is such that a breach does not occur in either agreement should either party execute their option to buy. That’s why I think it’s likely that we have first dibs but after a period of time our automatic right lapses. Ultimately if both teams bid the choice will be with the player anyway, so there might not even be an order of precedence.

    I really admire Bissouma as a player but I think you are right. Even if he is not found guilty or the charges are dropped, that does not mean he is innocent. It is incredibly difficult to prove sexual offences and on most occasions the perpetrator does not even get charged let alone found guilty. The fact that they are dragging this out for so long would suggest that they think there’s something in this, otherwise it would have been dismissed by now. Even if it does get dismissed, if he is guilty, then he will likely reoffend in the future. This perception that the criminal justice system is perfect and that guilty people get sent to prison and innocent ones don’t is a fantasy. As harsh as it might sound, it is better to avoid Bissouma and just get somebody else with a clean record.

    Agreed. Barcelona can agree whatever they want to with Spurs or anyone else. They are desperate to get rid of Coutinho and will be happy to have another option. I presume we will have a deadline by which to make the move permanent. If we miss it then Spurs will then likely have the opportunity to sign him.

    I suspect he’s close to be being done at Villa. Gerrard wants consistency of performance and that’s highly unlikely with Bert. If he does go I have to admit that I will miss his ability to undertake moments of utter filth. Dirty Bertie will always live fondly in my memory whatever happens.

    I genuinely can’t understand any negative vibes for this. Football is about excitement and anticipation. I will literally explode if we sign him! He is a top player, who may have lost his way but is young enough and has something to prove. He will also not want to let his mate SG down. This is huge.

    I agree. We have needed an athletic and combative number 6 for years. For some reason it has never been prioritised. Every transfer window I wait for the signing and it never happens! We have got wingers coming out of our ears but this key role has been ignored for too long.

    Digne would be a class signing. He’s exactly the type of left back that we need and he is already proven in the PL. I suspect he will go elsewhere though unfortunately.

    I can’t believe that we would be stupid enough to sell Ollie. I also don’t believe that Arsenal could afford to offer something tempting to us. I would be utterly amazed and disappointed if there’s anything at all in this.

    Agree about Watkins and Ings. I just think if you are going to play with 2 wingers, firstly your wingers need to be really good and secondly you really need two combative defensive centre mids. I don’t see us being able to tick either of those boxes at the moment. I also agree that our summer business was a bit of a mess. Our midfield was the area that really needed addressing and we ignored it. We then replaced our left attacking forward and best player with two right attacking forwards and a centre forward! Bonkers!

    I don’t agree at all. I think 4-3-3 is the best formation for our squad. We don’t have the defenders to play 5-3-2. We don’t have the midfielders to play 4-2-2. Any attempt to play 4-2-3-1 without Grealish has been absolutely shambolic. There are other variations but I think they are even more unsuitable. Out of interest, what would your preferred formation be?

    I agree. Those 4 form the spine of our starting 11. Remove the spine of any team outside of maybe City and Chelsea and they would struggle. Add in the fact that you have to play Luis in a position that in my opinion is not his best and also have to chuck in Traore for his first start in months! Not forgetting that SJM has just been through Covid (and Christmas!). It’s not that surprising that we weren’t great!

    Another one?! Come on! He has proven time and again that he is not up to it. I like the bloke but he is way down the pecking order now and for good reason.

    Nail on head. It happens a lot. He should 100% have been closing down the shot not holding his position. He does it often and it drives me mad. The Leicester goal is another example. I’m sure it’s one of the reasons he doesn’t get dribbled past too often because he does not commit to a challenge. To be fair to him, Targett, Ramsey and Hause had all messed up before it got to that point!
