  1. Joelinton is becoming a fantastic example of how shit Bruce is. At Hoffenheim he was a deep lying creative forward which he excelled at and it earned him his £40m move to Newcastle, Bruce looked at him, saw he was tall and looked strong, and decided he was a traditional big number 9 to lead the line, and was predictably shit at it. Now he's being played in a deeper role and surprise, surprise, the £40m player they bought is actually pretty good when you play him in a way that suits him.
  2. This is a pretty genius move by California, either it forces the Supreme Court to pass a judgement that would by proxy undo Texas' abortion law, or it allows California and other states to take harder lines on gun control through the same loophole. What's funny is that apparently a gun rights advocacy group even protested the abortion law when it went to the Supreme Court because they were worried this exact situation may happen.
  3. It's quite funny going back to posts in December and seeing that many of the posts whining that he should've stayed were the exact same ones saying he needed to be binned off and replaced with someone else. You got what you wanted, why you having a mardy over it?
  4. Some of the comments in this thread are absolutely pathetic. After years of supporting this club whilst the likes of Beye, N'Zogbia, Bent, Agbonlahor and countless others were more than happy to sit on the bench, or not even in the squad, contributing next to **** all and leeching the club for their ludicrous wages (although it's partly on the club for giving them those wages), it's actually quite refreshing to see a player leave once they know they are likely to not contribute anymore, as much as I would've liked him to stay. Honestly, it seems to me that the weak-minded cry babies are the ones throwing a hissy fit because a player left us for first team football.
  5. With a post like this I feel it's important to point out that there are people living in America today whose Grandparents and possibly Parents (though I think that would be an outlier) were born into slavery. It is so recent, there are voice recordings of former slaves, there is video of former slaves talking about their experiences. The last known known person born in to slavery in the US died in the 70s! And that's not even touching on the long lasting effects of slavery and the damage that resistance to things like reconstruction caused. This is not some ancient thing that is way in the past, it is very recent and has very real impacts on modern America. Hell, slavery isn't even fully illegal in the US! The 13th Amendment explicitly exempts the US penal system from the abolition of slavery. Just a coincidence then that the US has the highest incarceration rate in the world which disproportionally affects/targets black Americans.
  6. Watkins would be a 30 goal a season striker if it weren't for VAR
  7. I hope they don't take Saint-Maximin off too soon, he's been next to useless this half, he can barely move and they're still trying to play through him
  8. They're closing us down well and preventing us from easily playing from the back
  9. Quoting @Genie from the pre match thread; That was so annoying, even cut off talking about our team to say "Oooh, look at their flags, ain't they brilliant!"
  10. We haven't won at St James' Park for what, 17 years? And that required them getting 3 players sent off. Not expecting us to get more than a draw here, that place is as cursed for us as Old Trafford.
  11. So the Tanzanian fans were right and Grealish wouldn't pass to Samatta, just because he wouldn't give him his piss.
  12. I meant more with Edens, but then again, the PIF is totes separate from the Saudi government
  13. To be fair, the difference would be that Abramovich is an Oligarch with a lot of influence in the Russian government, and supposedly was one of the first to recommend Putin to take over from Yeltsin and Mevdevev from Putin, not to mention Abramovich and Putin are said to be extremely close.
  14. He's got Israeli and Portuguese citizenship too, almost definitely taken just to protect him and his assets in situations like this.
  15. SP would be set piece goals, which makes me assume 1st contact percentage would mean how often he's targeted at set peices, possibly? Which would indicate these are set peice instructions hence why Coutinho would have Harrison, as he wouldn't mark him in game (Similarly Ings has Rodrigo), so I think that may be more of a McPhee thing than a Gerrard one. The most interesting thing for me is why the hell is there still an El Ghazi shirt there? I know he's still our player, but you'd imagine they wouldn't put it up every game, so has it been just hanging there since he went to Everton like some strange memorial?
  16. From Medical News Today (dunno how credible that is though): Factors that may cause a person to be more likely to have shin pain from an injury include: drinking more than 10 alcoholic drinks per week excessive physical exercise So it probably is just a shin injury, just one that gets exacerbated by him going out on the piss so often.
  17. Spanish presumably as I assume that would be easiest for both. Coutinho was at Barca for four years and had a spell at Espanyol early in his career, so I imagine he can speak Spanish pretty well as I doubt it's that hard for a Portuguese speaker to pick up. It may be English, but then they'd both be speaking a foreign language and one even further removed for Coutinho.
  18. Well, he has been recently, yet it's been ignored.
  19. Konsa's been poor for quite a few games now, I think Carragher had a point about him being the first to blame others whenever we concede.
