New Inner City Academy Buildings - Tame Road
MessiWillSignForVilla replied to OutByEaster?'s topic in Villa Talk
FIFA rules are coming in soon to combat that, something like only 6 allowed out on loan at one time, with exceptions for players under 21 that are also home grown (spent three years at the club between the ages of 15 and 21). Chelsea's loans out would have to fall by half under the new rules. -
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR)
MessiWillSignForVilla replied to Stevo985's topic in Other Football
Then why is the solution always to get rid of the technology all together and not the shit refs? -
They're the new Swansea. Small team gets promoted then plays some easy on the eye football but ultimately don't do any better than a mid table finish and actually struggle for the most part. Manager gets lots of plaudits and is heralded as the new hope for British football, whilst some of their players get insanely overrated, which makes you wonder why, with such a great manager and an abundance of talent, they can't finish higher than 12th? They're alright, but the way they're talked about I often wonder what people actually see in them to deserve the fawning.

Looks like Purslow agrees

Typical that it's been all Wales since I posted this
-
I thought it was quite well worked to create the opportunity This performance has very much eased my pessimism about this team so far. Though it's helped by Wales reverting back to the side that came in to the tournament rather than the one that beat Scotland.

Russia and its “Special Operation” in Ukraine

I'm cautious about sharing twitter threads like this as there's a lot of disinformation and opinion swirling around, but this would be encouraging if true as it suggests Putin has severely overestimated how easy this would be. -
2 cards from 5 fouls to be fair as Mings' and Cash's were for non-foul reasons. Douglas Luiz may have been for off the ball stuff too thinking about it.

Things that piss you off that shouldn't

It's 15:25 and we haven't even touched the ball yet, it's a disgrace! -
I always find it weird when it's mentioned that Martin Johnson played for the All Blacks U21s. Of course they'd pick him if he was in NZ at the time, but he just seems so symbolically English I can't imagine him in another shirt. Edit - and that's a decent start to the 2nd half for France!
-
I'm just not confident with England at the minute, I can see us going in to the France game with only 1 win, although I'd expect us to beat Wales tonight.
-
At least we'll get battered in style when we go to Paris
-
What a run from Dupont, a brilliant try. This France team is something else, I thought it before the 6N, but the more I watch them the more conviced I am that they're gonna win the World Cup. Such a good, exciting team and the core is very young too.

Russia and its “Special Operation” in Ukraine

But he has He/Him in his twitter bio, I've been reliably informed that it's impossible to focus on literally anything else if you care about pronouns, so how has the chief of MI6 managed to pull that off!?!? -

Supposedly there has been anti war protests in Moscow too, maybe I'm being naive, but perhaps Putin has overplayed his hand a bit here? I'm seriously starting to think he's been told he's got something terminal to have started acting so rashly. edit - @DCJonah beat me to it with a video of the protest. -

My MP in being a massive word removed shocker. Is there many worse MPs than Bridgen or is it just because he's mine that I notice him being a knob more often than others? -
Players you've completely forgotten about

Just started a Man Utd save on Football Manager whilst I wait for the new update and discovered they had Paul McShane in their reserves, so I looked it up, and Man Utd actually signed Paul **** McShane in the summer, what the **** is going on at that club!? -
Chop chop! Lets all gawp at Newcastle (again)
MessiWillSignForVilla replied to Jimzk5's topic in Other Football
Joelinton is becoming a fantastic example of how shit Bruce is. At Hoffenheim he was a deep lying creative forward which he excelled at and it earned him his £40m move to Newcastle, Bruce looked at him, saw he was tall and looked strong, and decided he was a traditional big number 9 to lead the line, and was predictably shit at it. Now he's being played in a deeper role and surprise, surprise, the £40m player they bought is actually pretty good when you play him in a way that suits him. -
This is a pretty genius move by California, either it forces the Supreme Court to pass a judgement that would by proxy undo Texas' abortion law, or it allows California and other states to take harder lines on gun control through the same loophole. What's funny is that apparently a gun rights advocacy group even protested the abortion law when it went to the Supreme Court because they were worried this exact situation may happen.

It's quite funny going back to posts in December and seeing that many of the posts whining that he should've stayed were the exact same ones saying he needed to be binned off and replaced with someone else. You got what you wanted, why you having a mardy over it?

Some of the comments in this thread are absolutely pathetic. After years of supporting this club whilst the likes of Beye, N'Zogbia, Bent, Agbonlahor and countless others were more than happy to sit on the bench, or not even in the squad, contributing next to **** all and leeching the club for their ludicrous wages (although it's partly on the club for giving them those wages), it's actually quite refreshing to see a player leave once they know they are likely to not contribute anymore, as much as I would've liked him to stay. Honestly, it seems to me that the weak-minded cry babies are the ones throwing a hissy fit because a player left us for first team football.
