  1. You cannot field a forward line where both strikers wear Alice bands! On that basis, I go for SKP and Baros.
  2. You must bear in mind that HDE OBE is deeply in love with money. The Old Codger must be rubbing his hands in glee. Another transfer window nearly over without him having to spend a great deal of his (sorry the club's) money. Even better, he has got more lucre coming in this time than has gone out! If we sign anybody else, it will come as an unexpected but pleasant surprise.
  3. The question is hypothetical. Liverpool say repeatedly that they want £7 million for Baros. The Old Codger (trying to penny pinch as usual) offers £6 million and will go no further. Result? Baros goes elsewhere. This will be another fiasco in the Robbie Keane mould. Note to HDE OBE: The price is what it says on the tin!
  4. BOF, aren't Celtic skint though? If they can't afford Be****y then they can't afford Keane.
  5. I voted GOOD. I'm finding it difficult to believe some of the negative posts regarding Phillips. We were EXTREMELY lightweight up front last year, and what he gives us is another option. He has got to be a better bet than that bloody carthorse we had on loan from Chelsea. If we can now add another striker, we will have a complement of five which I believe is what a successful club needs. My personal choice would be Robbie Keane, and definitely not that arrogant Welsh tosser we have been chasing.
  6. A triple heart bypass for a man in his eighties is a very serious operation, even for somebody who invented the bicycle kick. I think this health scare may change Doug's attitude to life completely and that he may see the need to slow down and hand over the reins at Villa Park. Well, I hope so anyway.
  7. Agreed. Can't really add my vote because as things stand its option 3. I would hope to be proved wrong and that option 2 is what I will think in 6 months time. Give the lad a chance. He's had a rough deal at Arsenal. He can really make a name for himself at Villa.
  8. I voted Belamy because we need a striker like him desperately. I'm not holding my breath though. Belamy will go somewhere but can Smithers Stride convince him that Villa Park is the place for him with no Euro games on offer?
