  1. yeah, might as well keep the thread open until he finally signs
  2. "I remember when Villa beat the previous season's champions 7-2. It was a Sunday evening and Villa Park was empty because people weren't allowed to go out..." "Oh come off it, Grandad..."
  3. This option has been raised a number of times. Maybe he can do a job at CF, but the obvious flaw is it leaves us with Trez on the right.
  4. Wouldn't it make sense all round to pay to get rid of Henri? It's been painfully obvious for a while no one else would take on his wages. Wouldn't the cost go down as a benefit re. FFP? (well, it's not my money) I mean, getting Rashica another striker in might be the difference between moderate lower half comfort and another brush with relegation.
  5. Exactly and I can't believe we are going to make the same mistake that almost cost us last season. That's why I don't believe we are finished yet.
  6. Probably not but I would view him as an upgrade on El Ghazi/Trez. Not saying much though.
  7. Looks pretty clear now this isn't going to happen, so I would guess you think we won't be comfortable? If so, I'm afraid I agree with you.
  8. Ditto. Absolutely shocking. I very much hope we DON'T sign him.
  9. Let's just hope whoever drew up the budget wasn't relying on large amounts of income from player sales.
  10. We were making such heavy weather of the game that I have to admit to wishing we could bring either Trez or Conor on. Never expected to have that thought.
  11. Not even on the bench at Burton - is he injured?
  12. Lot of people seem to be saying King is plan B now Wilson has gone. But they are different types of player. Seems to me King is more likely plan B for Watkins. In which case, we must be looking at another No 9...
  13. I'd like to know what ITK Nana Banana thinks is holding things up.
  14. Have to respect sne's knowledge of Swedish players, but I must say I thought he looked pretty useful in that video, created bags of chances. Got a trick or two, comfortable crossing with either foot, seems pretty good at winning the ball back...and if he's as fast as sne suggests then I think he would certainly be a candidate.
  15. 6 or 7 in at an average spend of over 20m each? I think 99% of VT would be over the moon with that. I am expecting 5 tops with a total spend of around 80m. But I obviously hope you are nearer the mark than I am.
  16. So who are we looking at as plan B and C if Rashica doesn't sign? We have to be after one or two others of similar quality (and I don't mean Benrahma).
  17. Hadn't realised O'Kelly was a striker. Not sure how good he was though - couldn't find a highlights reel In any case, he seems to be mostly involved in other things. Seems to me that putting the ball in the net is a very serious business and merits having a specialist coach. Perhaps Shakespeare's appointment will free up more of O'Kelly's time to concentrate on that area.
  18. Seems like a good addition to the team. However, I think we are still light in one vital area: striker coach. If I'm not mistaken, our manager and all our coaches played in defence or midfield. I think we could use the insight of an inventive specialist striker coach to try and take all our strikers up a notch. Any former Villa strikers who might fit the bill? The good ones I can think of would be too old!
  19. Really only seen him in youtube compilations, but based on those he's easily good enough to replace Hourihane. Having said that, he doesn't exactly fill me with excitement and I absolutely agree we need more pace and power.
  20. we've probably decided to cut out the middle man...
  21. Gotta be good news, though he's hardly likely to make much of an impact this window. Still. it's an extra pair of hands at what should be a very busy time.
  22. Yeah, I've only watched the youtube vids, and the playoff final. But while I agree with your point about poor defences I like the look of this lad. You see him score comfortably off either foot and with his head. His workrate is phenomenal, and he looks very brave. He may not be the most polished technically but he is quick, powerful, gets in the right positions and doesn't give defenders any rest. A big upgrade on what we have IMHO.
