  1. For the past three nights, including tonight, we have seen riots and violence again in the streets of Northern Ireland, particularly belfast where i come from. These riots are due to the parades commision, not allowing an Orange March to proceed through a nationalist area ( the nationalist residents have said they do not wish the parade to proceed through their area ) In several loyalist areas of belfast there have been cars hijacked, buses hijacked, businesses looted and burned as well as people robbed by loyalist (MAINLY "protestants") who are destroying their own areas. The orange order have been attempting to march through areas who do not welcome such processions, so is it right for such processions to take place when the residents clearly do not want them to go ahead? Also... given that both sides of the community have rioted over different outcomes of Parades Commission decisions.. how can we prevent such devistation and upset? Police yesterday released footage of Orange Order members, attacking police with swords and fists. Should such a "religious" order be allowed to exist? All views are respected... please vote.
  2. Given Gareth Barry has scored every one he's taken, he deserves the goal count.
  3. Angel looks rubbish this season again. I know its early but definitely Baros and Phillips
  4. if Davis learns to prowl outside the box as well as surge into the box then we have a great player on our hands. English media tend to build a lot of English National players up to quickly. We seen high expectations from everyone about Lee. With Steve it won't quite work like that, so I think it will be easier for him to develop.
  5. I don't think there will be an opportunity to play all three up front. A bit risky, unless you're playing relegation type teams, however, I think there is plenty of quality amongst the bottom three or four. I'd give Angel a chance with KP. But if it starts working out like last season for Angel, it would be Meelan and KP all the way.
  6. The club have just got 2 million from DV Sale. They have NO EXCUSE. But yet again the board wish to prolong the agony of the players, the fans and the manager. It's quite obvious Doug is well and truly back stabbing the heart out of the club after taking care of his own.
  7. I certainly wouldn't. This is a make or break season for Parker. If he's not recovered well from this lengthly lay off then he could lose confidence. Anyways back on topic : I don't quite know if DOL can buy another striker if he doesn't get Baros... You really only need one big signing to start and influence other players to think we are going places. That incentive alone should allow anyone to see the benefit of shelling out a few quid for a biggish name like Baros.
  8. I don't know if we've been lied to, but I'm not very happy nonetheless so I couldn't choose an option. I think we've signed two decent (Berger and Taylor) players and two quality players(Phillips and Hughes). Still, I think we need at least another three signings to have a real chance of making top six. I'm in two minds about Darius' move as I don't think Darius was of real quality, but I do think if we have let him go and don't replace him, then there was no point in his sale. He was a great sprinter and challenger but wasn't a natural footballer and I think he'll struggle next season with Man Shitty. He gave us something different but now we don't have that and worse, we haven't anyone else. To be fair DOL has cashed in so that he can use the money as he knows he is working with very little but he needs to make the signing of Baros or another good finishing striker plus another two defensive players.
  9. Gonna say Dublin, I want to go with JPA but I don't want to scud his season, we need him to work hard for something like this prestigious prize
  10. Deano for me... Was a direct player like Van Nistelrooy, and aggressive like .... someone who is aggressive. I enjoyed when Dwight Yorke was at the club, he was a flair player, but I could never take losing him to Manchester Ushited.
  11. It has to be Kev. Considering his natural ability to put the ball in the net. I think he'll cope better than Juan, but I'm hopeful Juan will contribute well as he seems to be very much up for it. If we do manage to get a striker (on loan at least) I think it'll provide emphasis for KP to stick more in the net. He knows there aren't that many years left in him so he'll look to retire on a high.
  12. Can we get stats or have we had them before?
  13. I was optimistic until I woke up this morning. I think we have better quality in Kevin Phillips, but I'd say overall strengthening of the squad worries me because of the hold on the transfer market. There is little quality out there it's slim pickin's so I am not sure where our next signing will be from if any.
  14. Taylor. I agree that Andy Townsend was a bit of a legend. Especially over here. Although you have to give in for the love we show to Ian Taylor. He'll always be classed as a Villan.
  15. I must say Gavin McCann springs to mind for this. Merson was a quality player though and I would have voted for him had he been present.
  16. I'm irish need I say anymore? lol McGrath legend at club and country.
  17. I got that with my name on the back... those were the days
  18. I really do hope you mean claret else that would be bad. I actually like the claret shorts of last season, but they weren't available on the OS to buy.
  19. If DOL says its a good deal I believe him. Vassell can run, but lets face it, he couldn't finish his dinner in past seasons. O'Leary is right, he has gone stale. A football can't afford to get attached to their players, just because they have been brought through Youth System. This is a football club not a foster home! Apart from his pace, what exactly gives villa the right to charge any more for DV's services? IMO Nothing really. So Vassell has played for England ... SO WHAT? He was used to provide pace, and IMO missing that penalty in the last international competition summed up Darius' mediocre career so far. We've needed more goals for a long time. Why are people so shocked?
  20. We have four strikers. Losing Vassell would hurt us in the pace department but are we one of those teams who rely on lots of pace? No. The way DOL likes to play (and we've seen this all last two seasons) Is build play up from each side having the strikers drawn to the flanks and take part in intricate passing moves. We dont pull defences out and get DV to run in behind as much as we should. DV is wasted at this club. Baros, is a better finisher for me, he knows where the net is and still has a good run of pace. He works as hard off the ball as DV does. So I think there are more pros to Baros than DV. We have to remember that VP is not a place where we MUST keep home grown players, its a place where we get the best possible players. Looking at the likes of Chelsea, Arse and ManUre, they don't keep players if they don't perform EFFECTIVELY.... and we need to start doing the same.
  21. Leverage. Moore has come on well in the last season. He'll continue to make his mark. We can't hang onto a player who will not provide goals. Yes .. he provides pace and attacking runs but we wanna play more inside the box and Baros is a better quality finisher IMO.
  22. I know Vass is home grown, but let's face it this is a football club not a foster home... Baros is a better finisher and is generally smarter on the ball. I voted Milan Baros.
  23. I suppose running round like a headless chicken is better than not running around at all.
  24. Very observant. I noticed that too. I also noticed that he was drawn out to the same side as Ulises and Nobby instead of our wingers floating the ball into him inside the box. I think we weren't very direct from the wings. However, I do think that we do have another goal poacher in Kev Phillips.
