I definitely foresee a situation - probably this season - whereby Ten Hag or Poch get sacked and there will be a massively vocal outpouring of "Just go get Emery" from that teams fans.
To which we will laugh as we continue to quietly build a legacy defining juggernaut.
The only one I would worry about is potentially Real Madrid coming in for him (though BHA fans also have this fear about Di Zerbi apparently) but for some reason (probably my Claret and Blue lenses) I think Emery is honourable and stubborn enough to want to finish what he started - and continues to build - here at Villa rather than jump to another project.
A basque man in charge of Real Madrid is a hard sell.

This bloody statue is taking its time being built.
Needs to be up to Unai standards.

Need to be on form for this, I do fear Pau vs West Ham more though.

Anyone even having a fleeting thought about Unai out after a few losses or whatever would need their heads checked.
This time last season we were 17th with 4 points and a -5 GD.

Well, Emery is going for it
This is nice after decades of not making changes until 80+ minutes.

Oul doll, third row, far left. Looks like shes on her last breath of her 40 a day life.

You have to admit that the middle-aged guy right above Ollie in a blue shirt is an excellent dual-wielder of his birds. He's so symmetrical and well-practised, like his does this trick professionally.
He's been doing it every other week for the last while. Practice makes perfect and all that.

Duran needs to start so he can knock their defence around a bit.

Apparently his player rating on EA FC 24 is 79. Not that I've played the game in years but honestly that's shambolic from EA.
I worked for EA many moons ago and I struggle to really see much difference from the game I worked on to the modern incarnations.

Erm did anyone see Duran's shorts when he celebrated?
All 3 legs pack a punch.

Watkins needs benched and has done for a while.

How did they miss all the lovely Brummie architecture??

Decent player, I don't think anyone can honestly use performances at Spurs as a reasonable measurement considering the absolute car crash of a season the entire club had.

West Ham look to have the counter figured out and will cause all sorts of problems if we don't get the high line sorted. I worry about Pau having to defend against them, especially Antonio.

One more win and he has the same number of wins as he who shall not be named in half as many matches. Newcastle was only his 6th loss and considering he barely changed the squad last season it's an incredible achievement.

When asked about Emery's tactical planning in the post-match interview, McGinn said, "I don't know if you noticed but I spent most of the game standing still." Was he implying that he was instructed to do that??!
It's part of Emery's workplace safety plan.

Hibs are only a goal worse than everton.

This has made me think - am I the only one that is prepared to give Emery far more leeway than previous managers? Not just because of how we did under him last season but also because of his obvious quality and pedigree as a manager? Even if we had a really poor league season like West Ham did last year, I'd be minded to accept it instead of sacking him because in all honesty, we're not going to be able to get anybody better quality than him.
I'm 100% on board and even if we get off to a slow start and get bogged down in competitions this year I'll still have faith. Unai is a proven quality manager and has an incredible workrate. I would happily wait years of upper mid table/Europa conference for the club to build something great.
Look at what Fergie achieved at United with sustained support. The first 6 or so years weren't great and I think they won a domestic cup and that was it.

I always imagined an honest job interview for Lambert would have been the board telling him that they'd do everything possible to have the team relegated while he had to do everything he could to stop it.
I have a lot of respect for Lambert.
Anyway, unai could be grey and would still look like a boss. Even if we finished 17th I'd be against sacking him.

Awful miss from Derry in injury time to win the tie against Tobol of Kazakhstan. Game is gone now to extra-time.
Should really have put this to bed, they've done everything but score. Getting soaked in Tallaght here so I'm hoping for a win to make it worth the while!
