  1. A few weeks ago Wymess was talking about how Steve Round is putting in a "Villa Way" of playing and coming up with a philosophy that runs through the club. At the time when I read it I thought how can we achieve that with Bruce at the helm? If and when SB gone we need someone who is from a background where the philosophy of play is as important and has the ability to use multiple tactics during a match. Don't know much about him but this Fulham manager sounds good, plays the right way and experienced in the Championship. Alternatively don't worry about the Championshop experience and look around Europe for either a manger at a smaller successful club or maybe an assistant from some of the bigger clubs like Norwich have done with their new guy from Dortmund. Get it done Tone

  2. Reading what @TrentVilla says about Wagner my heart sinks. I have been on the fence about Wyness, my gut instinct has always been that he's probably stuck in the past and matey with the Bruce, Moyes, Big Sam, Brit manager school of thinking. But he has interviewed quite well and made all the right noises as to our plans and future progression. Back up the leagues. Unfortunately I now think my gut instinct was right, says a lot but questionable and perhaps a bit out of touch/date with what makes a successful club? to think we might have passed up the opportunity of a real progressive manger such as Wagner for the shit with Bruce we've endured the last 6 months really concerns me.

  3. Never wanted him, wanted Wagner or Brentford manager at the time he came in. Ticked a lot of boxes but has failed spectacularly to get us into any sort of state where we have a style of play, look  like we have a game plan and could take on any team in the division, always feels like we could be beaten by anyone. Pull the trigger please Tony, before its to late.

His in-game management is a bit of an issue for me. I think his initial approach to games is ok, we generally seem to start quite well and in the front foot. We were bright and energetic from the off today.

His changes were too late and a bit odd for me. I'm not sure how much of a part the condition of some played, but I thought the obvious choice was Green for Gabby and Hourihane for Bacuna (or Wheelan, neither were great tbh).

He didn't do enough, early enough, to get get us back on top.

Agree with this. Round pegs in round holes. Todays subs all required players moving around to much, those already playing to move position. His changes were too late and should have made the obvious choices Green for Gabby and Hourihane for Bacuna, then try the weird Samba thing, which I thought made us look very desperate and out of ideas.

  5. good first 20 mins/half hour then usual sitting back failed us. Bruce is not to fully blame but he does seem to encourage sitting on a lead rather than going for it. Like the look of how Elmo plays, can be direct and seems to even know how to cross occasionally which is refreshing. Gabby did well for the goal and about 10 mins after that but in truth he should not be a definite starter, knackered, Bacuna should be no where near the team what so ever. Goal keeper, defence, Whelan/Jedi (one or other or maybe together as sitting midfielders) and Elmo are starters, know what to do, reliable but the rest needs sorting and help from the management with a system and way to attack, an identity/way of playing, was hoping we might have been working on that preseason. At the moment we look a bit hit and hope up top. Although must say that Hogan ran his socks off, tried his very best and made some very intelligent little runs and passes. He should be starting but needs the rest of the attack to work with him on how they get him in on goal.

  6. If you use a big font on a 40 page document it could reduced to far less. Bit small time to be quantifying hiring someone through the creation of something completely untangable and meaningless to the current situation. I hate it when things are justified like this, bit like the whole Scottish manager recommendation letter from Alex Fergason in the Learner era.

  7. Don't know who we should get in but I can't see the harm in giving dean smith a try. We gone all other options, why not have a punt on him. Bruce needs to go now, no point delaying the inevitable and might as well start the next rebuild now.

  8. So essential to us, has to start every game and have team operate around him. Unfortunately we got him about 2 years to late as he doesn't have the legs any more to rely on him getting through a full match. No matter who the manager is, 1st thing we need to do in summer along with sort a keeper is sign a younger version of Jedi and have some cover for him.

  9. Trouble is we are not comprehensively the better team. We played quite well to contained them and then slipped up. Our link up play between midfield and attack is woefull, I think we have the players but no one really seems to know who's going where and how we attack as a team, that's on Bruce and the coaching staff. Fed up of changing manager but if we don't match or play any better than that first half he can do one and we should try the next one on the list.

  10. Never wanted him and used to really hate Bruce, but since he came here I realise i just hated the teams he managed and his style of football. I actually quite like him as a person but want him gone as the turgid football is too bad and it feels like he is running out of ideas. I believe we have a good enough first 11 to be beating anyone in this league. We have tried the tried and tested manger route lets go with someone more risky now. Dean Smith or if Huddersfied don't go up then Wagner. I don't mind the championship, but want to see us winning and playing good football.

  11. Usually when ex Villa players play Villa they win and either score or have a stormer. Unfortunately this is rarely the case the other way round when players come to Villa. I fully expect Lansbury if playing against Forrest to have a shocker, but hope otherwise. Like him as a player, not the greatest. It has an eye for a pass and isn't scared of doing dirty work.

Defence look a nervous wreck with him on goal - he looks a terrible keeper -doesn't organise , can't catch and can't stop many shots - poor positioning and makes gollini look like Gordon banks in comparison .

    utter ludicrous signing!

This... was like having Brad G at his worst back in goal, poor hands, defence seemed nervous when playing back towards goal and shitt kicking. Miffed with the whole Golini situation, thank god it's a loan

  13. One thing that concerns me about hogan and Kodjia is if Kodjia has the footballing intelligence to see when team mate is open and in better position... He is good but quite a few times he failed to put RMc in when they played together.

  14. Getting the basics right includes you Steve.... maybe getting a proven keeper and reacting tactically rather than doing **** all might help.

Few concerns at the moment... what the eff is calderwood doing? Since he came in we've been shit.
