I think a mixture of the two.. Do i think we'd have spent 24m if we were higher up the table? No. We probably would have spent it across a few players to strengthen the squad and remove the drab. Fixed Need a new LB Need a new CB Desperately. Clark is a good Utility player and fantastic for the bench. Warnock doesnt cut it and doesnt want to be here. Taiwo - fantastic replacement, out of contract in the summer so would be cheap to buy now. As a CB Spahic seems more likely but I would prefer Samba - younger can lead our defense for longer time, but Spahic or Samba will both do. In the summer: a new winger or two if one/both of Downing or Young leave (N'Zogbia Sessegnon) A new keeper or two: Ochoa and Smithies for me but unlikely. Possibly another CB if Dunne walks Next season will hopefully be our season.

Cant see Downing being the quality player Liverpool need to get back into the top 4. I'd say Downing is worth 12m.. but its January and we're spending 18m on a striker. If they bid 15m+ I could unerstand us taking it if we have a backup in line ready - cant spend rest of the season with Young+Albrighton. If one gets injured or sent off again we'd be screwed as we rely on our wingers.
