  1. Heck’s gamble has paid off and BCC have caved in and offered to pay to upgrade the station. Now to announce the North stand project is back on…
  2. Let’s be honest, no one would give a shit or would be discussing this if it had just been revealed today as part of the 150th year celebrations marketing. Heck tweeting this out of context was the problem as a lot of people have decided this is something more than it actually is. It’s a marketing tool. Did everyone get this pent up when they revealed the logo below? Does anyone even remember it now? Doubtful as it was used on a few emails, posters and flyers. I am guessing this is the same.
  3. First viewing the wild. Looks nice I think in this context. Meltdown over.
  4. I think everyone saying it looks “American” are mostly think of Baseball. Most teams in MLB have a stylised monogram of their name that they use in their marketing; less so in other sports. Seems to be more traditional for Baseball. I think it can look classy if done right. The AV150 wouldn’t look out of place in this list:
  5. I will forgive and forget on the north stand redevelopment if the club could commit to a proper stadium wide refurb of the concourse and fan areas. The facilities in the concourses are shabby and outdated. If we’re not rebuilding or moving let’s improve what we have to make the best experience out of the stadium we love. Hell let’s have some public realm improvements to the car parks and outdoor areas while we’re at it. This could make villa park a modern facility and would surely cost no more than £20m. Revenue on sales of improved drink and food offering and increased speed of service would offset the cost.
  6. It’s harmless enough as an alternative club logo. I wish the lettering was sharper and more obviously AV. Looks almost like HU to me since the text is so stylised and swoopy. I like the colours. Looks very much like baseball branding - I can see this looking nice blazoned across a cap.
  7. It's bad timing whenever you close the stand really. If you do it on a high then it is disappointing that we do not have full stands and we lose revenue on ticket revenue. If you do it on a low then everyone questions whether it is needed at all. The travel infrastructure is not going to be put in place before the stand is built - that is obvious with the troubles at BCC. They should just commit to it and get it done. It is badly needed for the fan experience and to grow the club. The inevitable worsening of travel will force the council's hand to invest in local infrastructure.
  8. Sounds like a power play to force the BCC's hand regarding Witton Station redevelopment. Bravo Heck, bravo!
  9. Interesting timing following the Atarios investment the other day. Wonder if the timing of this is a coincidence or not. The press release said the Atarios investment would help fund "infrastructure investments" and we have now just cancelled the biggest infrastructure investment for 20 years? Wonder what they have planned.
  10. It’s not violent conduct by any sensible definition but his hand does touch his face so the FA will happily stand behind this and ignore common sense. Played at full speed it is completely innocuous and Kamara is just giving a push back as he has been caught by a flailing arm. Should have just been chalked up as handbags and was hardly worth a yellow card in reality, but the refs simply cannot stop themselves from intervening in everything.
  11. Disappointing as the discipline has been so good all season, hardly ever get drawn into pointless cards. Hope Kamara and the team learn from it.
  12. We should appeal but I doubt it will be overturned. Letter of the law it is violent conduct and 3 match ban, despite being pretty innocuous. Idiot.
  13. I want to see a scientific study on McGinns physiology. The shape, movement and stamina of this man needs to be studied. I can’t think of any other top level footballers that look and move like him. Maybe Mitrovich has that similar build.
  14. United are shite and no amount of free time is going to help them. Newcastle on the other hand will probably enjoy the extra recovery time and improve a bit. No matter, we have to just keep doing what we’re doing and top 4 can be ours. If we *only* got EL then I wouldn’t mind to be honest. Look at Newcastle in this year in CL - too much too soon. I’m confident Emery will delivery CL football at some point in the future even if it’s not this season.
  15. Bad feeling about this one. Difficult place to go after an intense run of games and mid week trip to the balkans. Regardless of result don’t think it will be a vintage performance from us, especially without Luis pulling the strings in midfield. Could be a cagey one, wouldn’t turn down a draw in context of 2 previous wins at home. Hope we play the Mostar game at snails pace to conserve energy!
  16. This Spurs team already has terrible discipline. Some kind of petty vendetta against Matty Cash which has them rattled will only work in an our favour in the home tie.
  17. Looking forward to an Emery master class today. Spurs only play one way so Emery doesn’t have to worry about a surprise tactical plan, he can just plan how we are going to exploit their high press and high line.
  18. Perfect game plan from Forest. Two early goals then sit deep, compress the field entirely into their own half and chase down our players with the ball relentlessly and with physicality: Worked a treat and it looked liked men against boys at times. Conceding the soft goals was the main error from us, without that Forest have to come out and play leaving more time and space on the field to make better decision and pick passes. Need to cut out the soft goals.
  19. Simply cannot concede first against teams that play deep block like this, and definitely not twice. Asking for trouble. Forest played a blinder.
  20. I can see both sides of it both but Emi deserves his trophy. Whilst he's probably not the best keeper in the premier league over the long-term (he's hovering somewhere around 3rd after Alison and Edison in my opinion), he has had the best 12 months in any goalkeeper in world football so why shouldn't it be him? It's impossible to accurately compare the attributes of players anyway, so the trophies they win and contribute to winning over the 12 months period should be considered. Emi won the biggest prize in football and was instrumental to Argentina along the way including the save of the ****ing decade in the final. The guy has also pushed the boundaries of goalkeeping over the last few years with his penalty craft and saves (...yes really, they had to change the rules because he was so successful), so this should be considered. The guy could easily play for any club side in the world. Congrats Emi!
  21. 2nd in the league Ipswich next. Let’s go 4 in a row!
  22. Why not? If he is good enough to earn a move to a top 8 premier league team why wouldn’t he fancy villa again. The very fact he agreed to a buy back in his contract suggests he is open to it.
  23. Literally can not believe that they have self-harmed like this when they were having some decent form. Tricky games against Southampton, Ipswich and Sunderland coming up. Could it be 5 straight losses for Rooonaldo?
  24. Going to be knackered after AZ. Need to score early and control the game. Don’t want to be chasing something going into the second half or it could get tricky. Villa’s home form is common knowledge now so teams are likely to sit deep against us. Don’t want a repeat of that Bosnian outfit!
