  3. I remember Deano getting slated by the boo boys whenever we drew or lost a match about his lack of substitutions or changing "tactics" in those matches. The truth is that it doesn't matter if Deano, Mourinho, Pep, or Fergie himself was managing this team, we weren't going to have impact subs with the pathetic bench we had last season. I'm now seeing some of the same people turning down the idea of Tuanzebe (as 4th choice CB) and Abraham (as a backup striker) or the idea of JWP (because he isn't a brick shithouse DM). If we pull all these signings off, we've strengthened considerably to when we fell off on the back half of the season. Guilbert is an upgrade on Elmo Young is an upgrade on Taylor Sanson is an upgrade on Hourihane Buendia is an upgrade on Traore Bailey is an upgrade on El Ghazi/Trez Tuanzebe would be an upgrade on Engels Abraham would be an upgrade on Wesley/Davis JWP would be an upgrade on Ramsey Deano will now have the squad strong enough to play a variety of systems to deal with injuries as well as change the shape or have impact subs off the bench. We'd arguably have a stronger side than we did in 07-08 when we last made a run for the Champions League. 433: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett, McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Sanson, Buendia, Watkins, Grealish 4231: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett, Ward Prowse, Douglas Luiz, Bailey, Buendia, Grealish, Watkins 442: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett, Bailey, Ward Prowse, McGinn, Grealish, Watkins, Abraham 532: Martinez, Guilbert, Konsa, Mings, Hause, Young, Ward Prowse, McGinn, Grealish, Watkins, Abraham

  6. Yes Pep! Just another 100M on Grealish and another ~100M on Kane and that £1BN spent MIGHT just FINALLY win you the Champions League. Well done, you bald headed, Championship manager on cheat mode, over rated, wank maggot, word removed.

  7. My wife has just gone into labour, so if Jack could wrap this thing up one way or the other in the next hour or so, it would be much appreciated!!

  10. Jack leaving and then your missus leaving straight after... I mean, it would soften the blow a little wouldn't it.

  11. I assume the dog would have just thrown up inside the car, not put up a paw and warned Jack and his missus to pull over before puking. Honestly what am I writing?

  13. Surely I can’t be the only one who doesn’t really want Tuanzebe back?

  14. I've changed my tune now... before I could understand him wanting to move and play for honours, but after watching that video I posted earlier, I now can't understand why a Villa fan would want to leave us, when we are improving so much. He's got the dream of captaining his boyhood team into a new and exciting era as well as raising our profile further due to his newly found superstar status. It's not as though we're a 3rd division team and he has to move... we've got a real strong team now and could surprise people this coming season. Top 6 is a real possibility, and from there, who knows. I'd be very disappointed if he left to join an 'oven ready' superstar team that plays in a soulless stadium, in front of unappreciative supporters. Man City fans used to class... they've been replaced by a new breed of glory-hunters, tourists and blowhards. I guess a side effect of success. Come on Jack, become a legend at the club you love... or be another cog in an expensive wheel, that no-one cares about.

  15. Just on the mention of that Leeds allegiance from that supposed ITK, from what I’ve seen on Twitter, it seems as if the supporters of the likes of Leeds, West Ham, Everton are generally hoping Grealish stays at Villa. A sort of solidarity from those outside the big six, it appears.

  17. One thing for certain, whatever happens with this saga. Sam Lee needs to reconsider his career choice. As a journalist you surely must remain an impartial onlooker reporting facts, that are known to you, to the best of your ability. Ignore the noise. The man has vested too much emotional energy and stock into a event that he has no control over. His overinflated sense of importance has grown uncontrollably. He has courted and indulged in 'abuse' and now seems to want to play a martyr to a cause. It is a football transfer not the striking of a peace accord between Israel and Palestine. Further to that, you are merely reporting on it. You are not involved in the outcome or the process in anyway.

  18. My friend is a dog walker in London, and he had a phone call from a withheld number earlier. Girl with a Brum accent asks if he walks cockapoos or whatever it is (little brown curly dog, can’t remember the name). Last minute emergency because she wasn’t expecting to be in London tonight. Anyway as they’re discussing pickup time etc, he hears people talking in the background. There’s a bloke with a European accent (Scandinavian he thought?) saying “we’ve blocked it Jack, we’ve blocked it Jack. James is coming now” So my mate thinks nothing of it. But just an hour ago he’s picked up the dog off this glamorous young woman. I showed him a photo of Sasha and he confirmed it was her. And as they’re walking round Hyde Park the dog has spilt the beans. Grealish is staying at the Villa. Now depends on how ITK you reckon the dog is, so take it with a pinch of salt. Also, apologies. But I reckon this isn’t even the most bullshit rumour that’s been shared in this thread.

  21. The thought of selling Jack for £100m and then replacing him with Tammy and JWP for a combined £90m makes me feel sick! Really sick!

  22. I’m almost indifferent to it now. Obviously I’d be happier him staying but really I don’t think any player is worth this much consideration. Looking forward to going back to just thinking about players who we know actually want to play for Aston Villa. If the club thinks £100m is enough to get the players who both want to be here and are able to get us higher up the table, selling a player who seemingly needs a new and improved contract every year to stay isn’t the end of the world.

  27. Agree with almost all of that, but if JWP joined he’d be our best CM by a distance and play every game - imho.

  34. TRO, if he does leave, I so hope that Villa break the top 4 and win a trophy - FA Cup or Europa League etc - in the first few years he's gone so he feels the pain of missing out on that. Sorry but, I cannot wish him well if he walks out on us after just 2 years back in the Premier League.

  37. If she can make it from London, via Barnt Green to get changed, drop off and pick up bags, and the dog, in under 2 hours I'd say the police have banned the wrong driver.

  40. There’s always going to be fans who have different opinions. I’ve supported the club since the mid 70’s so my opinion of what a legend is would be different to someone who’s watched since the 1950’s or since 2005. Yes Jack potentially is the best player Villa has ever developed, but for me that is different to being a club legend.
