  2. Random reddit 'ITK' posts that he's off - 30 pages of shite Actual Villa based journalists tweets that the club expect him to sign a new contract - nothing. Never change Villa Talk. P.S. He's not for sale x

  5. - the lack of marketing material with Jack’s face on - some blokes on Twitter who says it’s happening - JT leaving because he is too upset with the loss of Jack - Losing to Stoke When you add all this up, I think it’s quite clear…

  8. I don't think it's surprising that Villa fans would say thanks and all the best, it doesn't really take much. Leeds have had some world class bell ends who are considered club legends 'round your way. Glass houses, stones, and all that. John Terry is no saint but he gave his all for Villa during his season as a player here, and I've no doubt he instilled the right attitude in some of the players during his transition to coach.

  10. We got pulled into a meeting by a senior manager to gather some initial "post mortem" thoughts on why the project had failed. Less than a week after we'd found out they'd shit-canned the project we'd poured 4 years of hard work into. When they pushed us because we were all quite quiet and fed up, and said it was important to learn some lessons, I spelled out in detail several of the ways I felt they'd personally ensured the failure of the project by persistent mismanagement, generally wooly-thinking, and an inability to delegate, communicate, and work well with their team. They were not keen for me to be involved in their next project (although afterwards everyone said "thank god someone said it"), and I was more than happy to resign immediately after the meeting to ensure I never had to work with that incompetent clown ever again. Tbf, unemployed isn't right, they're holding me to my notice. Looking forward to the new job

  11. I’m having a new kitchen fitted this week, the fitter has just spotted my Villa mug and told me that he thinks Grealish will stay at Villa. That’s all the proof I need. He’s got a great reputation as a kitchen fitter, so who am I to doubt his credentials.

  14. Honestly the post from Jack on IG and then backed up by McGinn has eased my mind. Like someone put it Jack might be “encyclopaedia” thick but not emotionally thick. He seems a very genuine person and he wouldn’t have posted something like that if he had decided to leave.

  16. If he goes he goes, it'll be sad but we'll move on. But I don't get the wishing all the best and the like. He'll be playing for a team in the same division, I wish him nothing but failure like the rest of them! He'd just be another player if he goes though. He's really special because he's one of us at the moment, it's a really great story. If he goes he's not one of us, he's just one of them the same as Sterling, Dias, Bernardo Silva and whoever else is. His villa credentials go in the bin. for what it's worth, I do believe he's one of us, and will stay. Dragging Villa back to where we belong, trying to win a cup with Villa then getting a statue outside the Holte and a stand named after him would be worth more than buying some trophies with some oil team to me, and I think it will be to him too.

  18. Jamaican fans now doing their best Euros English fan impersonations. " GET BAILEY ON ... Chuh bomboclaat! FFS " I might need to give the British Villa/Grealish fans an apology for Euros, we are starting to feel your pain here. Lol Also deep in the beers, and this is the only Jamaican related post on site, so forgive me for turning it into the Jamaica Vs US Gold Cup thread.

  19. This guy is reffered to as an employee of Villa by a South American Citeh fan - seems all quite random, but it's so odd it's intersting. His bio is "Contemporary to Emiliano Martinez". This post today before Jack's instagram message. Then McGinn. Makes you think something has got around the players today. NOW IF I CAN CONFIRM JACK GREALISH IS GOING TO BE A PLAYER OF THE ASTON VILLA !!! INCREDIBLE HOW THE MANCHESTER CITY WILL GET F*CKED

  21. Let's see if our midfield and defense is put under as much pressure now that we no longer has a disinterested Barkley and a not so defensive interested Traore doing no pressing or tracking back when we lose the ball. Adding Buendia should solve a huge part of what was our biggest weakness in not being able to keep the ball in the attacking 3rd and at winning it back higher up the pitch. If we add someone like Bailey it would make us so much harder to defend against as the opponents will need to cover for his pace. I'm sure a out and out DCM would make us better without the ball and that would be great of course. But I don't thin that is the role that Smith want's his deepest CM to have and I think Smith wants us to have the ball more often rather than focus on when we don't have it. Obviously a player who fills both those roles in one is the dream but then you are looking at £50m-£80m players and we are not there. Sure you can pick them up if you scout well and are lucky but it's no mean feat. I think a lot of the critique aimed at Luiz is based on fans expecting him to play a role Smith is not asking him to play. He is the deepest sitting CM, but he's not a anchor man DCM who mainly has defensive tasks. He is more of a deep playmaker or a Xabi Alonso type.

  23. We were 6th worst (tied) in the league for conceding shots, with only two of the relegated sides, Newcastle, Burnley and Leeds worse than us. https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/Seasons/8228/Stages/18685/TeamStatistics/England-Premier-League-2020-2021 That would suggest that despite the clean sheets, Martinez in particular, overperformed. As much as I love the guy, I feel he needs an easier time next year, hence my desire for a defensively minded midfielder.

  24. I remember the Platt sale. Like you I was gutted. He was my hero and kept us up singlehandedly that season under Dr Jo You are a bit out on the season of great football though... that wasn't the season after Platt left, it was two seasons after. Big Ron's first season was decent, we finish 7th but had a spell of 1 goal in 11 games in mid season - imagine if that happened now! Meltdown. The following year when we got Houghton in and then Saunders signed, plus Dalian was back from injury, we were majestic, and came 2nd ps Platt left on 20th July 1991. A few days over 30 years ago! Where does time go?

  29. Not sure but I think he’s just posted a image of himself celebrating his goal at West Ham last season as it’s been a year to the day. Seems like a lot of people are reading far too much into it, not like Villa Talk to over react though.

  31. Don't like Terry as a person but you can't say he hasn't served us well while he's been here. Gave us one excellent season (at that level) as a player and has been Smith's right hand man on the journey we've gone through so far. I'm sure he could have walked into a manager's job straight away like Lampard and Rooney have done, but to take an Assistant's role and show the willingness to learn the trade rather than dive right in shows a lot about him He'll forever be synonymous with the resurrection of this club, so I wish him all the best.

  33. Good luck JT Aston Villa can confirm that John Terry has left the club.John joined on a one-year contract as club captain in 2017, playing 32 games in the season. He then returned to the club a year later, becoming assistant head coach of Dean Smith’s coaching team.John said: “It has been a tremendous honour and privilege to have spent these last three years at Aston Villa, but I feel now is the right time to make the extremely difficult decision to move on.“I want to be as respectful to the manager and everyone at Aston Villa as I can and, having given my future serious consideration over the summer, I genuinely don’t feel it is fair to move into a new season without being certain of seeing that through.“My immediate plan is to spend some quality time with my family and, thereafter, hopefully take up some invitations to visit clubs and managers around Europe to develop my aim and objective of becoming a manager.“It has always been my ambition to move into football management and, providing the right opportunity presents itself, I feel ready to take up such a challenge.“I would like to thank Christian Purslow and our owners, Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris, for believing in me and giving me the opportunity.“And I will forever be indebted to the Gaffer for giving me the opportunity to start my coaching career at such a wonderful club. I have loved every minute of it and learnt so much.“I can’t thank Dean enough for the support and guidance he has provided me with and I’m sure he will continue to lead the club from strength to strength.“Finally, I would also like to thank all the players and staff and wish them all the very best for the season ahead and say a huge thank you to the wonderful Aston Villa fans for their support.”Dean Smith said: “I’m disappointed to lose John as part of my coaching staff but fully understand and respect his decision.“John has played a huge role in the success the club has enjoyed over the last few years and has been very supportive of myself throughout that period. I have no doubts he will go on to be a first-class manager in his own right and wish him well for the future.”

  35. As expected, sucker punch. 1 - 0 loss. Gray got on but no Bailey. If his injury was that bad, why bother putting him on the bench? Anyway, quite annoyed . 7 am here now and I stayed up to watch that. Changes made too late and all the other generic things I'm used to from my team's. Lolsee you later lads!

  37. First day working in the office today since March 2020. I remember walking out of there and thinking it would be 2 - 3 months, 18 + months wasn't even in my thinking. We were so ignorant back then about what was to follow. It was brilliant to see (some) of everyone again and really genuinely refreshing to be working elsewhere other than your own 4 walls. The trains were really quiet but Town itself was really quite busy. I had a lunchtime stroll round Paradise Circus and and Broad Street to have a look at all the building work and it's amazing how the city has transformed in just 18 months. After work I took the longer walk to Moor Street instead of Snow Hill. I was really pleased to see how many bars, shops and cafes were open and trading. Those with outside seating were visibly busy even on a Monday night. I actually feel really optimistic, it really felt like life was getting back to normal and businesses were pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. With the falling Covid numbers I really hope we're able to return to near normal. Feel good today. The forecast of the demise of the City Centre was premature.

  39. Dean’s done so well so far so I don’t see the justification for doubts or major criticism… I’d rather be optimistic and positive because the work and evidence is there, we’ve been on an upward trajectory ever since these owners and this manager arrived… we would’ve struggled to get out of and possibly languished in the Championship without Dean… None of what I am saying is directed at you btw, but I’ve seen a lot of fickleness and impatience from many “fans” which often frustrates or annoys me. Feels like stabbing the guy in the back when all he has done is work wonders for us… some loyalty and appreciation is warranted… It’s a bonus that he loves the club as much as we do too, good to have a manager that is invested and cares about the job/club and it’s progression… rather than being focussed on lining his own pockets and using us as a stepping stone etc…
