  4. The hyperbole is hilarious … he saw the red mist after 20 odd months off the pitch due to an horrific injury and lost his cool in a pre seasons friendly… Now he is a thug 4 life and a disgrace blah blah blah … geez y’all need to get away from the keyboards and chill a bit towards one of our own … And its not as if this is a pattern of behaviour - He will be the most disappointed and deserves our undivided support..

  7. Got to say, a lot of people overreacting to this. Handbags in a training game. Powell has tried to wind him up, in a friendly (why!?) and Wes has taken the bait. But honestly who cares. It’s not like anyone actually got hurt, and for all we know Powell was being a complete word removed

  9. Jack does own a house in Manchester too from when Utd signed him.

  10. Trying to use today’s game as justification for signing Tammy would be weak/poor… Yes, Wesley let us and himself down today but there is no need for massive overreactions or wanting to get rid because of an isolated incident in a one off, friendly game… we don’t know the full circumstances and can we really blame Wes for getting worked up or aggressive if someone puts in a dirty foul or makes a mocking comment after all he’s been through? He’s had to battle his way back. But yes, this doesn’t justify his actions today… that was poor. Our main problem is in midfield, that’s what we need to sort out. And anyway, it’s a preseason game/friendly where we have a mix of seniors and youngsters playing, trying to build up form and fitness… not the right time to be making big or definitive judgement calls… I’ve been consistent about the fact that I would not mind having Tammy here but it would have to be under the right conditions, we’re absolutely not going to get him for a bargain fee and wages… Chelsea aren’t lunatics or small time buffoons like Arsenal… A loan to buy deal would be great… that would help us and make financial sense… I often see joke or sarcastic comments claiming that people only want 11 players.. that’s completely nonsensical. We all know we need a good squad, including cover and competition. But it’s all going to be dictated by our finances/budget and our priorities. Tammy isn’t the only forward or CF we could sign and a bit of versatility and value would help us… it seems to be Tammy or no one for some… it’s being quite incessant and annoying, especially when ignoring other factors and points made by people with different or opposing views… you have to listen to each other to be heard and understood… We need to get that midfield area sorted out so that we can actually get a hold of the ball and keep it, create chances and dictate the play a bit. We still have players that are careless and loose in possession… that is the highest priority issue to solve or remedy… Would having Tammy on the pitch have really helped us today, for example? It’s not like we were creating multiple chances and failing to put them away… Again, what’s the point in splashing out or using up a huge bulk of our budget on strikers if we can’t constantly give them service? I also see claims that Ollie has had a poor game or gone off the boil, people are forgetting that we struggled without Jack and Barkley became absolutely useless… Ollie worked his socks off just to try and create opportunities for himself and was even successful at times, nicking the ball of opposing defenders… We need to strengthen the team and squad, nobody is objecting to that. But in the most sensible and beneficial way…

  16. This has not been a good pre-season game. Pre-season isn't about fitness, players come back fit in the summer nowadays - it's about building pattern, rhythm and confidence - I don't think we've got anything positive out of today.

  21. I don't think he's leaving. But any notion of coping with his loss on any level is totally naive. - We can't replace what he offers as a player. He makes us tick. He inspires others beyond what he himself offers, which itself is immense. - We would lose out massively in commercial deals. Now and in the future. There is no more marketable player in the league. World? - It would stunt our growth in all ways. He's worth many times to Villa any conceivable transfer fee. Even if that were 200m. The answer has to be no. Not for sale. Not unless we have no choice. It would be better for us to run his contract down even. No.

  22. Remember this is why he hasn’t been on the pitch for so long.. Through no fault of his own his career was put in jeopardy … guys fought back to fitness during a global pandemic to get back on the pitch… Emotion , frustrations and adrenaline took over and he lost it for a split second - Mings loses it on occasions - only he will know how much he meant to catch Zlatan … Wesley will be hurting badly as he will know how much he has Smith and the team down, and that more than anything he needs minutes on the pitch … I think it should just be put down to over exuberance after an extended period on the sidelines rather than write him off and abuse him … dread to think what so called followers will be sending him on social media

  27. Not watching the match, but getting carried away with good results, or totally dejected with bad results should surely be out the system for most of us by now? Haven't Arsenal and other Prem teams lost to shite teams as well? This is about fitness and giving players a run out.

  29. On a more serious note, this is a very good and important thread: . . . as Goodall realises that all of these food distribution industry workers pinged by the app are - get this - expected to go to work as normal *but also* to isolate all the rest of the time as if they were off work. He asks not unreasonably about the legal and moral basis for this: There's just no chance people will follow these rules, and nor **** should they, but it's the purest distillation of the government's approach throughout the pandemic to demand that potentially infected and infectious people continue attending mostly low-paid employment but also not see friends or family or go to the shops or be able to live in any way outside work. The Tory id in its purest form.

  30. Why are you putting any stock into whatever this rando clown on Twitter says when he has already proven himself to be just another bullshitter in a very long line of them? There are NO Villa ITK's anymore. The ship is too tight. Every now and then, little bits might leak and somebody will be right, but it's never going to be one guy. Unless that guy is John Percy, but even he is struggling to get anything concrete ahead of time these days.

  33. Definitely not peanuts, for one. But your claim that it's really no problem to add a record-breaking transfer striker to the team and keep him and another record-breaking transfer happy just doesn't hold up. If Watkins is fit, he wants to start every game. This is surely true of Tammy as well. You think either would be jazzed about being on a team where they start half the games is naive, imo. It's one competitive advantage a team like Villa have over the Man City's of the world. We can attract some players who don't want to sit on the bench.

  36. I don’t get these kind of posts (no offence). I’m well aware it’s a pre season game. I know it’s worth nothing if we win/lose/draw. I don’t care if we lose. I don’t even really care how we play as a team. But. I do care about individual performances as several of those players will be first team regulars this season or certainly pushing for a starting place and it just reinforces the fact we need two more signings this summer to really push on. We need a defensive midfielder and an attacking midfielder/wide forward. It will be negligent if we don’t sign two more first team players because we have a real opportunity to push Arsenal and Spurs out the way on our quest for the top 4. We can play and win/lose another 50 pre season games and my opinion won’t change. We need two more first team players in midfield.

  37. People questioning whether he can play CH. He’s 17 ffs, of course he can pay CH, anybody who watched the last 2 games with half a footballing brain can see this. He has all the attributes to be a top player.

  38. Where the hell is Sanson? And yeah. Nothing to do with a preseason phone it in shithouse of a display but McGinn is not good enough to start for where we are or want to be.

  39. Hahah, here we go.... I do agree however that there are a few on this forum who think we have a top 6 finish in the bag already. We are way off that at present, all we've done is replace Berkley so far, we need another two first team starters and Jack to stay. We also need Championship McGinn to turn up, Luiz to find some form, Sanson to deliver, and hope we have no injuries.

  40. Let us have some perspective, he turned 17 in January. Was not helped out by his goalkeeper. Fletcher very streetwise, Lamare will learn a lot from this. His positioning will improve. Physical attributes will develop with age also.
