  2. Just had my second Pfizer jab at QE a few minutes ago. It was much faster than the first one and I felt nothing compared to first time around. Just in the weird waiting room now for 15 minutes. So proud of the staff of the NHS.

  5. In a completely and utterly different tack to this topic, unrelated to anything posted before. Two tales from today (1) - On 21st March I reported an email we recieved at work to the Police. The email read.... "Please call me, my brothers baby has been stolen, please call me on 07*********". Thats it nothing else. Reported it to the Police as is our civic duty. Thought nothing of it until just now. I get home from work and log into my emails, one from COMCEN asking me to call 101 immediately in relation to incident log XXXX, it stresses this is an urgent matter and should be dealt with as soon as it was recieved. So I do, after all the IVR bollocks I get through to someone to discover its about the report I made on the 21st. They want to know if I have any more information. So its taken them 9 days to get back to me about a baby snatch and despite me telling them in my initial report that we had no further information as the number and email used were not registered with our company, they were getting back to me to check if we had any more information. At this stage, this does not fit my definition of urgent (2) In a completely unrelated matter, I sent some data to a policeman today as the fruit of a court order. I sent it as an Excel file as is normal but I was a bit rushed so didn't fully check I'd widened every column so all the data could be read instantly, I normally would., I checked the top rows but not all the way down. I get an email back saying that the dates can't be read after the end of January as all that is there are ####. That is some low level of computer literacy there. I had to send an email back that said.... make the column wider.

  8. Whats that mean? He looks after the kids that we've sent out on loan to make sure that their training and performances are still decent etc could mean that we intend to send out more next season, putting the infrastructure in place now Or he has a full time job shouting at Ross Barkley for playing shit?

  14. Just completed the 20 min run. Tried going out earlier tonight and as soon as I started walking my knee hurt. Came back, put an ice pack on it for 20 mins. Really felt up for trying the 20 minute run so went out again. I'd say it was both physically and mentally challenging but the sense of achievement after doing it was unbelievable! Back on with the ice pack, then into the shower. Fat boy has caught the bug!

  15. he played 4 months, scored 4 goals. Had a couple of good games, couple of off games a dna few rubbish games. He's then been injured for 14-5 months. He's also young. Not the first young player from overseas to start slowly in a new league. I don't know why I bother though as for some he is inexiplicably and undoubtedly the worst player ever who should be fired to the moon with no slack given. I don't know if he will be good enough for us, but I'm more than happy to give him a fair whack post injury to help. Never understood the contempt that has been held for this guy. but it's a waste of time trying to change the minds of those who have oddly decided he's done etc.

  17. Good on 'em. We are pretty close to herd immunity I think (though important to say of course that 'herd immunity', which is a terrible term, is not an on-off switch). Today's news: Note that the 14th March was two weeks ago. There have been 6.2 million first dose jabs since then, so that percentage will be much higher now and over the next couple of weeks. Will probably be in the mid 60's or even 70% by the time we do the next phase of reopening in three weeks, at which time to be honest we really do need to be getting into a national conversation about whether the speed of this is still appropriate.

  24. Born in 86, my gaming history pre PS2 went Game Boy - SNES - PS1 I think got these in '95, '96, and '97 respectively. My favourite games on those devices at the time were Link's Awakening, Super Mario All Stars, and uh, Demolition Derby. DD was one of those PS1 games referenced above that was barely held together. Even as a ten year old I thought the screen tearing looked a bit rubbish, even though I didn't know that's what it was. Regardless, the crumpling effects were decent, and I think it's a reason I've always had a real affinity for 'destruction effects' in games regardless of genre - BFBC2 being one of my favorite examples. Up until '98, I liked games, but I didn't love them. I started BIG SCHOOL in '97, and then got FF7 in '98 and that was that. At a time where home Internet was a rarity (or an impossibility for myself and most of my mates), talking about beating this boss, or finding this weapon, or getting stuck and talking about it at lunch was such a massive part of school life for me, it was almost certainly to the detriment of my achedmic achievements! Edit - as evidenced by my speeling above. Dem approved.

  25. I don't get how people can watch us and say he's good enough for the Premier League. He has never shown anything but the opposite. Players like Trezeguet are the reason we were fighting relegation last year and the fact he kicked the ball in the net a few times (while doing nothing else) doesn't change that. I still have nightmares of Samatta and Trezeguet losing the ball every time they got it. Thanks for those goals though, and he tries hard.

  27. It's kind of funny how surface level the logic is (and the entire concept of race really). How would she be able to know if someone is "English" if there weren't some obvious physical marker like having dark skin? I could be a Lithuanian immigrant, change my name to an Gareth Pepperidge, put on an accent and boom I'm English, and she'd be none the wiser. Her entire house of cards collapses after just thinking about her views for an extra 5 seconds.

  36. What I like about him is that he has the ability to play slower than everyone else. He's so calm and he eats up the ground whilst looking like he's strolling. He's a tall athletic player who will fill out to be an athlete that could dominate a midfield - if I can borrow the modern Villa phrase de jour, he's got a very, very high ceiling. He is only 17 though. No rush.

  39. Yes, we all want someone to provide 'stiff competition', of course. We all want someone on a si ilar level to Targett. However, that's going to cost us £15m-£20m realistically. Are we in a position to go spending huge amounts on backups? Do many clubs spend such huge amounts on backups/competition? In our position? Our squad still needs huge work, spending large amounts on backups/competition isn't feasible. Signing a young, upcoming back up/competition is what we will do and what I'd expect us to do and want us to do. The big money can go on improving the first team in the areas we all know need it.
