  1. Here we go, VT. A goal down after half an hour, and Smith got it wrong, we hate various players, we are crap, the ref is corrupt, everything's a conspiracy, etc. Give it a rest and grow the **** up.

  2. That's my cue to stay in off topic for the rest of the week.

  3. Two very different things: Firstly, I think Chris Wilder wins the game - in the first half, tactically, he got his shape and his tactics completely right, we struggled to get out, struggled to do anything with the ball and were outnumbered all over the pitch, particularly in wide areas - he completely out-thought us. In the second half, his team gave an organised, disciplined defensive performance full of character. We were out-managed tonight and that's to Wilder's credit. Secondly, goals - we're very blunt indeed. Jack is a lightning bolt, he gives you a little bit of the impossibl

  6. And the reason we lose all the games in which we go behind is that we only score goals on the break. If you go ahead against us and then sit in, you've won.

  7. If that was given against us this forum would implode!!

  8. Can I just remind people that there was almost unanimous approval for the starting lineup in the pre-match thread.

  11. I don't know why so many people in this thread are thinking we just turn up and win. Yes Sheffield United are bottom and not lost only 5 games, but if people actually bothered to watch them, they are playing the exact same as last season, creating lots of chances but just dont have any one to put them away, McGoldrick is as bad as they come in the premier league for finishing, and they've lost Henderson who was key last few years for them. They have lost nearly every game by just the one goal, in the smae way that nearly all their victories were just by one goal last season. The football

  12. Weird post. Yeh he's been struggling for form, he's still a villa player though

  13. He's as thick as a Whale Omelette. If he wasn't a footballer he'd have been huffing lighter fluid by a train track with his gormless poorly painted on face.

  14. I find your posts so strange. You struggle to give Villa and Smith any credit ever. Yet statistically one of the worst teams in top flight history and you are desperate to give them some credit for beating Man U. What’s all about that?

  17. Unacceptable to lose against 10 men against the worst team in the league.

  18. What's annoying me is, it seems like literally any sort of cohesion going forward here would see us already winning this game. They are not good at all.

  22. Ok, I don't think we will, but just for arguments sake, name a manager that would have done better than Smith in the same time frame from taking us on when we were 15th(? maybe lower?) in the Championship with a totally unbalanced squad with one recognised central defender and a **** truckload of right backs to getting us to a seemingly top haf prem finish gettin glots od plaudits for our quality football? I can't think of anyone, at least anyone who would have taken the job when he did.

  25. El Ghazi was our best attacking threat tonight but he can't beat 5 players every time, he needs other people to move instead of just stood their gawping. The Midfield 3 beside him is becoming a huge issue cos Smith hasn't got a clue who to play there.

  26. Even in the reverse fixture we needed a penalty save from Emi and really work hard for it. Against 10 men.. You'd think after the Brighton and Burnley games that people have learned teams in the bottom half doesn't equal easy games.

  27. My personal belief is that konsa and mings are greater than the sum of their parts . They fit together perfectly. Mings talking and heading ability together with Konsas positioning, calmness under pressure and deceptive speed . If you were to work out the perfect centre half partnership on paper then this is what you would be looking for. I think both are top class but they rise above as a partnership.

  29. Well at least we know there will be no complaints if we don't win. Can't criticise Smith or the players if we come unstuck against such difficult opponents. They beat Man United you know?

  30. Ventured in to On Topic for a change and the number of "funny" nicknames that people give to other teams and their players is a bit irritating. Blose and Bumford are the two I've seen today but there seems to be a lot of them on here and it all comes across as a bit playground stuff. It seems to be common of football fans in general rather than just us given the Ghoulish and Greasy that Grealish gets from other fans but its a bit pathetic. Probably shouldn't annoy me but I'm not sure why people can't have discussions without petty name calling to be honest.

  36. Clearly isn't a top tier manager and will most likely never be. As of now he is fine though. He is building the right foundations for a better manager to take us to the next level in a few years.

  37. Geeza does 2 bad things and about 5 or 6 good things but let's focus on the bad. His through ball to Watkins first half was sublime. Funny thing that the chance Konsa had was from an El Ghazi cross. Edit : people need to stop comparing him to the best player in the world currently. Jack Grealish.

  38. Feels like I've said it a few times this season but that's just one of those games. Their goal was fortunate and we conspired to do everything but score. One to write off completely. Still plenty more chances to put it right.

  39. Can we please not embarrass ourselves by being over-critical of the players. They have given us a fantastic season and let's not slag them off too much. We won't every game. If we did we'd win the league. Our lack of creativity stems from one thing - we are crossing in front of them. We need to get players overlapping to the byline and crossing into runners.

  41. We're being outthought by Wilder here - all over the pitch they've got people pressing in areas we don't like and then when they've got the ball they've got space wide all of the time. We're not playing too badly, but we have to be perfect to make a chance because they've got players perfectly positioned to prevent us getting anything going. I'm not sure how we can change this. I'd be surprised if we come back.

  45. Scholes was never as influential for England as he was Man United, but this is just ridiculous. I know people on here are obsessed with talking Grealish up like he's the second coming of Messi, but come on for ****'s sake. He's had 5 appearances, two of which were friendlies, has 0 goals, 2 assists and has only played 1 full 90 minutes. No he has not excelled more for England than Paul Scholes.

  46. I bloody would. We have plans to be a force in this league and so need to keep the players we've developed into top players. We don't need the money. There aren't that many class centre halves around either. I don't know why some our fans dream up acceptable sums to punt our family silver on for. The only acceptable answer to circling vultures who are where we want to be is "go **** yourself". We're coming for them. They can buy some fringe players so we can make room.
