  1. Yup. Allowing America to happen was a bad move on reflection. At least we get to see how it ends.

  6. it's already started. traore has already limited who can respond to his posts on insta and wesley did the same after a few games. just horrible, toxic people who can't keep their emotions in check. we all get pissed off at bad results, and point fingers at players. but whinging about them on here is one thing, we've all slagged players off on here. if they choose to come on and read what people are saying about them then it's up to them. i just don't get the mentality of people contacting the player directly on social media...

  7. Morning chaps, don't want to be accused of disapearing after you beat us so here I am First of all, we all hate Mike Dean too. Pretty even game I thought which could have swung either way. We really only have ourselves to blame as we should have taken one of those chances, even with Martinez playing so well. Obviously Silva was unlucky when he hit the post and I was very enthused with his performance. Once he puts some muscle on he will be a decent player on that performance. Dendonker really should have scored one of his two chances though, which I remember were both too close

  10. I can enjoy a game we don't play well and win. I can often enjoy a game we play well and don't win. I can never enjoy a game we don't play well and lose. We aren't going to win every week so performance matters hugely.

  14. I see Mings as a leader. There is clearly a leadership group within the dressing room as well and Mings is part of that. I really like Mings. He does frustrate, but look where we were when he first came to the club. He's transformed us as a defensive unit and whilst he has an error in him, he's well worth his place in the side.

  15. Watching Bruce serve up that football in the championship with one of the best teams in the league broke me. Smith totally turned it round. We aren't alone, just look at the crowds under him.

  16. RIP Gerard. Tried to turn us into a modern day football side after we'd hit the glass ceiling under O'Neill. Sadly, health issues cut that short - and a couple of overrated centre backs didn't help your tenure here either. A true scholar of the game. He will be missed.

  18. completely agree like i said in the mings thread if football or aston villa is making you feel so much anger and hate that you feel the need to attack another human being then walk away, its not good for your mental health, football is highs and lows which is why we all love it but it should never be that low

  19. thats my thoughts too, i'll be honest and say at the time i didn't like him, then came the pires stuff which pissed me off, the anfield stuff did a little but i always thought it was blown out of proportion, id expect the opinion on him to split the fanbase and probably draw out our idiots on social media (again...) hindsight has changed my opinion of him and MON, houllier for the better MON for the worse, it showed a complete lack of understanding from our owner and whoever it was at the time who ran the show for him, we went from a counter attacking quick manager to a get the ball down

  23. Why should Wilder get sacked? I think they shouid trust him that he can build for the Championship next season and bring them straight back up like Dyche did with Burnley. Wilder brought up Sheffield United from the lower end of League One, all the way up to the Premier League and finished in an admirable position last season. If he now deserves to be sacked I don't know why managers should ever bother. If a manager can take you that high, he should be trusted long term to put them back on the right path.

  24. Never have and never will understand vitriolic abuse towards one of our own players. Absolutely no justification for it whatsoever.. El Ghazi comes across as quite a sensitive sort, so I can imagine how hurt he was by the on line abuse. He has never once gave the impression that he's financially motivated. On the contrary, he has professed quite passionately how committed and proud he his to be representing this club. We should be applauding that attitude. You can also see how popular he his amongst the squad, as was evident from the joy of his teammates when he slotted home that pen. It

  25. Some of the comments on this thread are absurd. People have pulled apart his performance looking for a bad point, which was the turn on the ball he was caught out for. They've then chosen to completely ignore the fact that he played a part in keeping our 5th clean sheet of the season and has been one of our best players over the past three seasons. The calls to replace him are ridiculous. He's an England international and one of the best players we have, not only in his performances but his leadership of the team. He may get caught on the ball at times, but he offers a huge amou

  26. As you recognise this, why are you trying to discredit a point nobody is making? That said I actually think it's unacceptable for some idiot on social media to directly criticise a player. If said player were to search their name or look at a place like this and take it on board that way, fine, that's their choice as an individual. However calling them out in any way, shape or form by @ing them on social media is childish. I don't know what good people think is going to come from it.

  28. I remain fairly confident that the thing Mings is regularly criticised for, the only thing in fact, is something that he is being specifically asked to do. That is namely to break the first line of the opposition press. In some cases this is seen as 'fannying around', and with good reason, but if it is something he is being encouraged to undertake then I find it difficult to fault him for it. I suppose I have learned to accept the occasional bollock dropped as part of the overall methodology. Can/will he improve his decision making at times? When to fanny and when not to? I hope so. He m

  29. Greenwich Council decide that it's not safe to have schools open due to rising infection rates and tells parents that they're moving to online tuition until the new year. They were due to break up for Christmas at the end of the week anyway. Gavin Williamson has now ordered them to remain open for the last four days of term, using powers in the emergency coronavirus legislation. In other education news, Eton College has now broken up for Christmas after deciding to end term early due to rising infection rates.

  31. Crazy how different people see things. Wins everything in the air, makes blocks he has no right to and covers up for cb and full back mistakes. Take him out the team and we'd go to sh*t. Look at last season...our most wtf performances defensively were Southampton at home, Watford away, Leicester at home, Spurs at home where he was missing. He carried that backline at times last year. On the Laursen comparison, he was diabolical with the ball at his feet, if we played out from the back the way we do now he'd be dropping a load of clangers. Ming's ability on the ball and to pick out a pass

  32. Regardless what people think of Starmer's answer to 'Gemma from Cambridge', it is probably worth being concerned about an organised campaign from the far right to spread white replacement theory bollocks on the airwaves, for that's what was happening apparently: Why am I not surprised to see the link between far-right politics and 'wellness culture' rearing its head again?

  34. We all keep assuming that at some point, the majority of people are going to suddenly leap to their senses and see Boris et al for what they really are - but they won’t. In order to do that it would involve an alternate view, or content from an alternate platform, these same people will get their same information from the same places 3 years from now as they do today, they’ll still be insulated in their little bubbles of frustration and hatred, they’ll still have that chip on their shoulder. Look at the trump fans, there’s no telling them and whilst here in the UK it’s not so militan

  37. Look at Traore. He's played less than 200 minutes of football for Villa. Is settling back into the UK ( not London a different part of the country) and a new club. Fans on here have already written him off. It's unreal. Petrov, Milner (the era many look back on with nostalgia) both took a whole season before we saw the best of them. Anyway off topic..... But I like what I've seen of Traore and he obviously needs games. Yes he's made mistakes but he's another player just like AEG. Needs confidence and things going their way and then they can become a very useful weapons. (the good ty

  39. It's been over two years I think we have an idea what he's like He's an absolute classic inconsistent, mercurial winger. So much more ability than Trez but simply doesn't have the mentality to knuckle down when the going gets tough. Well, I don't think we've seen it enough. Bad spells of play from him or the team's bad form weighs so heavy on his shoulders. Wonder if he's seen/seeing a sports psychologist? It would really help him I think. He unlocks even half the belief Jack, McGinn, Luiz, Mings, Martinez have in their own ability he's a top 10 PL winger all day long.
