  1. Interested in this thread - We're due 15-20% of whatever you pay Brentford, plus I wanted to thank you for your pleasant dealings with us re Ben Chrisene, as you apparently were fair with us, unlike Chelsea when they poached Ampadu from us. Toxic club.

  5. Signing players like Wilson instead of players like Wesley is probably more sensible but you simply cannot beat that feeling when a foreign journalist links you to a player you’ve never heard of for 20 million and you head straight over to YouTube to find out who the hell he is. That shit is like crack.

  6. According to tranfermarkt he's played 9559 minutes of premier league football, and scored 41 goals, that 9559 minutes in terms of minutes on the pitch works out to about 106 games, good luck finding a player with a much better record than that for less than £60m. Even if you ignore the goals per minutes angle he's still scored 41 goals in 126 premier league appearances, those are the real stats. It's probably been posted already, but in the last three seasons only five English players have directly contributed to forty goals either via scoring themselves or assisting, and one of those players is Wilson, the others are Kane, Sterling, Rashford, and Vardy.

  7. You'll forgive my scepticism, but the last time I took some stranger on the internet's word about a "banana", it left a very sour taste in my mouth.

  8. The men who have taken us from mid table in the Championship to promotion, surviving the first season back up and a cup final in under 2 years aren't the answer? What are you smoking?

  9. Premier League experience is the most overrated concept in the footballing world. Either you're a good player or you're not. Carroll has played in the Premier League for what ? 10 years? Doesn't make him a better player than Watkins or Maupay.

  10. i feel like im going mental - do you lot have shares in the club? Maybe im too simple but I just want reallly good players to play for Aston Villa to make it enjoyable to watch and see them win games. I dont care if we are paying £20m or £24m or £22m with addons and incentives etc. Its not my money. The club employ accountants and managers and directors of football to worry about all that and i trust they will spend money that they can afford to spend. I also find it bizarre when people question how hard the people in charge of the club are trying to get players in. Bottom line is that, unlike you and me, the success or failure of the club has a direct impact on their lives, be it their job, reputation, potential for future employment etc so of course they will be doing everything in their power to make the club as successful as it can be. if it was simple as just clicking the buy button in football manager in order to purchase a player im sure they would be delighted, but just maybe the process of buying a player in the modern game is a tad more complex than us lot realise.

  12. Mings has done amazing overall tbh since he joined us. Just think: Jan 2019 he joins us on loan after recovering from a major injury. Had only played 15 games in the 2 years prior to joining us. Came straight in at CB. We get promoted, Mings being a core part of the team that helped us gain promotion. We sign Mings for 20m + add-ons, and most Bournemouth fans shout about how we got fleeced and they didnt need Mings as he wasnt good enough for their first 11 (although many liked him and sent him best wishes) Wins first call up for England. Helps keep Villa in the Prem, Bournmouth (who thought he wasnt good enough for them) get relegated. gets second call up for England. part of the core Villa team to lead us in to the 20/21 season. All in 19 months....... Amazing tbh.

  13. Veretout - Played regularly for Fiorentina for 2 years, then moved on loan to Roma last season, was a regular starter as they finished 5th in Serie A Gueye - Became one of the best DMs in the Premier League for Everton for 3 seasons and then moved last season to PSG for £30m, where he has rotated with Veratti, Paredes and Herrera Gollini - Atalanta's starting GK and has been a part of a team that reached the Champion's League for the first time in Atalanta's history, then got to the QFs and finished 3rd in Serie A this season, which was they're joint highest finish with the 3rd place the year before. Amavi - Regular starter at Marseille for the past 3 years in which they have finished 4th, 5th and then 2nd (basically like winning the title considering PSG run away with the league every season ) in Ligue 1. All done pretty well considering some were considered not good enough for the championship.

  14. Desperately need pace in the team. We are probably the slowest team in the league as it stands. Really hope we don’t neglect this again otherwise we are in for yet another tough season.

  15. Personally, I think Nyland is a fine keeper. He started the League Cup Final on merit. Any mistakes in that position more often are punished. With a proper run in a less nervy side I think he would prosper.

  19. So both happening and not happening - interesting! Any news of Schrodingers transfer from the Bundesliga?

  20. He's a backup. £7m is nothing in 2020, even for a keeper. And he's good enough to challenge Heaton for a starting point. Even if it's short term, I don't really see the negative. He is an absolutely gigantic improvement on Nyland. That's the comparison.

  22. There's nothing wrong with buying foreign players; we just happened to sign poor foreign players last summer. After each failed transfer window we seem to vacillate between the domestic and foreign markets, as if one is better than the other. We just need to recruit some GOOD players for a change, regardless of where they're from.

  23. He played 32 full games last season and averaged a goal every 3 games. This is not prolific, but is still solid for a PL striker. A goal every 3 games is far superior to Keinan, who averages a goal every 1.5 seasons!

  29. I don't understand the negativity around Wilson. He's 3 times better than Samatta plus Wesley is injured and Davis can't score.

  35. How on earth can you base his performance and your views on videos alone, I have watched him week in week out and I can assure you that with his year by year improvement he's ready for the big step up, his time has come, as for comment that he's not a natural finisher, you will soon change your mind when he comes to you.

  36. Weird that only him and Mitrovic in the league managed to capitalize 25 times on the poor goalkeeping.

  37. These people are literally despicable scum, all of them. Gormless Hancock this morning too, ‘yeah, he’s a misogynist and homophobe but he’s good at getting trade deals’ (on Tony Abbott). I hate and despise every single one the rocket polishers.

  38. Yeah no you're right, let's just shoot up straight to the top 4 after surviving on the last day last season. We're Aston Villa after all! Midtable "obscurity" would be a massive improvement on "our lot" over the past decade. 2011 was the last time we've achieved it and even that season we were battling relegation for the majority of it. Since then we spent 3 years in the Championship, only just coming up and once again almost getting relegated. Yes I'd absolutely take midtable obscurity if it were on offer.

  39. Good buy for me. Premier league experience which is what we cried out for last season and knows where the back of the net is. He will help solidify us into a possible lower/ mid table team which is the next step (anything else is a bonus) Can't wait to get him signed and hopefully a few more like it.

  40. Take it from me you can trust "Banana" or "Nana" as he is affectionately know by most Bees supporters , he is definitely ITK on club matters as he runs our GPG website, I trust him to be right most of the time.

  41. They want the extra £2m up front because they know: 1) He isn't going to play for England again. 2) He won't make the required number of appearances it will take to trigger that part of the clause. Get Watkins or somebody else, please.

  42. Why isn't this tagged as speculation? Every time I open VT I think we've signed him.

  43. Taking this back to the title, a little. I just went out for a run, and as I approached a junction, I slowed down, looking forward to a quick breather, when the driver makes eye contact and waves me over. **** you, you lovely considerate bastard.
