  2. It's too easy to blame it on Crystal Palace being at the "beach" Burnley had nothing to play for yet they beat West Ham. We played well today.

  3. Watford have 34 points and an 8-goal better goal difference than we have. Their remaining games are West Ham (a), Manchester City (h) & Arsenal (a). It is not unlikely, that they will not pick up another point from those games. Should that happen and we win tomorrow, we would need a further 5 points from our remaining 3 games (Everton (a), Arsenal (h) & West Ham (a)), unless they lost their games so heavily, that their current goal difference advantage evaporated, then 4 would be enough for us. There is therefore a chance, but we would need to pull off an escape, that would have Harry

  5. I'm going to repeat myself every time I post in here. Very good performance and unless Man City trigger the buy back clause then we must do absolutely everything physically possible to keep him at this club.

  6. What joke? Us getting relegated is a joke? I don't find it funny. It hurts me. I suppose, being a Leeds fan, the joke is strong with you.

  7. Playing Hourihane was a good decision and keeping Trez over El Ghazi was a masterstroke El Ghazi was the safe option but Trez was the better of the 2 vs United

  8. We needed to win games to stay up. Today we won one - the fact that we have shown we have the ability to win a game means we are in a better position than before the palace game. We are in dire straits no doubt - but just keep on winning is all we can do.

Watched “can you ever forgive me” tonight .... what a great film , never thought I’d be sitting here saying I enjoyed a film with Melissa McCarthy in it but she is great as is Richard E Grant who plays Richard E Grant . You get a few films that you’d happy watch over and over again and this one makes the list , wish I’d have watched it sooner

  11. I'll wait until after the Everton game to decide if I want Watford or West Ham to win. If we manage to get 3 points against Everton, I'd hope for a draw as you'd hope Man Utd beat West Ham, leaving it in our hands on the final day to potentially put them down (unless we manage to beat Arsenal as well). If we get anything less than three points against Everton, I'd hope for West Ham to win as we could potentially stay up with 4 points (with them hopefully being on the beach on the final day).

  12. People looking to Dyche should remember he was relegated with Burnley in their first season in the premier league but the club stuck with him and were promoted the following season. They haven't looked back since. Not saying it'll work out the same with Smith but doing a hard reset every season will take us nowhere if we want to build a consistent style of play and ethos.

  14. It’s not just about a picture of a black person. The name ‘Uncle Ben’ is a reference to a time in the US when black people were not considered worthy of being given the title of ‘Mr’ or ‘Mrs’ and were instead nicknamed ‘Uncle’ or ‘Aunty’. In the current day calling the guy on the front of the box ‘Uncle’ Ben instead of ‘Mr’ Ben is crass once you become aware of the history. I’m not surprised they are looking at a more up to date branding.

  15. With the elect execption of me everyone on here yesterday was accepting that we'd already been relegated. That we've even given ourselves some hope is the main thing, has been a good day for us regardless of the Bournemouth result, better that they won and we won than both of us had have lost, we're three points closer to safety than we were with a chance to close the gap to one point on Thursday against a team with nothing to play.

  17. Hoping for a West Ham win because they're actually a good team. I don't see them losing all they're remaining games. But also because it looks like the best outcome. Watford have City and Arsenal after West Ham which is a good bet for 0 points. By which point West Ham will be on the beach on the last day and could gift us 3 points (they're awful when they're not up for it). Going into the final day against West Ham with them needing a result would be horrible.

  22. A proper centre half and a proper bloke. We could have done with him this season. I went to a chicken in a basket thing at Villa Park, many years ago where Jack was the speaker. Loved his smirk, when he was asked about the Leeds "little black book". I also went to a World Cup evening that featured Jimmy Greaves and 9 of the winning team, at Wolverhampton Civic Hall some years ago, when he talked about the final and "our kid" Bobby. Sad to see the team leaving us, one by one. RIP Jack.

  24. Dwight Gayle scored 46 goals in the past 2 seasons he played in Championship. How many goals have Keinan Davis scored to date?? What is this forums obsession with mediocre (at best) players just because they are from our academy. Anyway, I'll have to say Gayle would be the perfect companion to a player like Wesley. We need someone agile and pacey. It's what we lack. Whether it's Gayle, or someone in his mold, doesn't really matter. But Gayle has proven to be capable of scoring 20 goals in Championship..

  29. It does change Bournemouth winning tonight. Had they lost they would virtually be down, turning a 3 team mini league to a 4 team mini league. We have dropped a position and they have improved their goal difference. It hasn't helped.

  32. Yep. Never claimed he's doing a great job. I don't think we've given him a great chance to show it though. Average points to stay in the league is 36. We have 30 with 3 games to play. We've looked all season like a standard relegation battling team. The idea that there's clear evidence that we are capable of so much more just isn't true. Norwich beat City, West ham beat Chelsea, Bournemouth have had some top results. And yet some claim we should, not could, should be clear of all of them.

  34. That is the opposite of where he needs to play. His best ability is his ability to drive play forward after picking it up deep. Playing up front just leaves a player who takes lots of shits for very little return.

  35. Typical Villa to keep the hope and heart wrench alive. I saw aggression and fight today, incredible what a goal does for confidence, we suddenly looked a good team again! Also, this goes to show that this "All the players are shite" excuse shouldn't wash. They may not be great, but they are nowhere near as bad as our position suggests - they can play when it's right!. Better decisions from Deano over the course of the season would probably have secured us a few more points. Beat Everton and I'll subject myself to the pain of believing again. Happy overall today though, I have forgott

  36. So it turns out we’re still in it, still fighting going into the Everton game. Where are the bed wetters calling for heads to roll? Where are you? The much derided Trezeguet has just scored a brace to win a game, I’m expecting to see much love on the Trezeguet page.

  44. It's also lazy to just say just get rid of after investing so much and then we'd have to start all over again. Smith got us promoted, Smith got us relegated. He's been here 18 months, the owners have invested heavily in him, we just need to give him time. You wont because you havent liked him since day one. Last season was a major positive, this season has been a negative, time to see what next season gives him. You think we wont be close but you maybe wrong. Fortunately it isnt your choice and I'm sick of chopping and changing managers especially when they havent been given time.

  45. I've given it some thought now and then lately. I've gotten kinda numb from it all, but I'm by nature a relatively stubborn and competitive person, and I don't mind fighting for something a long time to achieve what I want. I think we got to have patience and rally behind what the club's trying to do now. It's a highly competitive league and we came up as the runt of of the litter, coming up through play off with an aged squad with exceptional loaned players. The promotion was a big deal for the club, but it left us with a quite impossible task of building a new team over one summer. Most peop

  46. Look at what Smith started with in June: Strikers :Davis, Kodija Midfielders : Mcginn/Hourihane/Grealish Defenders :Taylor Hause Guilbert, Elmohamady Keeper : Steer, Nyland, Kalinic You can't have Mings and El Ghazi if you are giving him stick for the money he spent in the summer as they are included in that outlay. By the way that's in June - so we had a small window to build and coach up a premiership squad. What he started off with is mid-table championship stuff - if you don't believe it, imagine what taking Abraham, Mings and Tuanzebe would have done to

  47. The bizarre decision to give smith a 5 year deal is going to look very bad 10 games into next season.

  48. I honestly don’t understand the calls to keep him here next season. There is a losing mentality around the club right now stinking the place out. It’s going to be a pretty quick turnaround before next season starts. What makes people think Smith is going to change that? The players clearly aren’t giving there all for him. What is he going to do to make them give 110% in the dog fight that is the Championship? We have been in a relegation fight and the players should be running through brick walls for him, why aren’t they? Is too soft, is he just one of the lads and they don’t respec
