  1. Nigel Spink, pictured here having a shit next to his car, reckons a new goalkeeper remains a priority for us this summer. Maybe there is some truth in the Mendy rumours.

  2. Like we did with Kodjia? Or Bobby Reid? Or Lloyd Kelly? The highlighted bit is exactly the arrogance and, frankly, out of touch attitude that is the cause of perceived resentment from fans of other clubs.

  4. I am not a big fan of having tunnel vision on a player when you get find so many bargains with a proper scouting network. I do however think there's a slight difference between us claiming £ 30 million for Grealish and Leeds wanting £ 30 million for Phillips. Firstly Grealish was a stand out player in this league. More often than not he won matches by himself. He was injured and we fell to shit. He came back and we got promoted. Phillips is not there at all. Secondly Grealish was tracked by spurs. A champions league outfit. Thus £ 30 million is not utterly unreasonable. Phillips is tracked by a host of relegation candidates. Slightly different story. I wouldn't mind us signing Phillips. He seems to me the type of player we need. But for £ 30 million? Have a word. Not even sure I'd go above £ 17 million. Just seems bad value for money in either case.

  10. £30m for Phillips isn't a serious figure, it's a 'piss off we're not selling' figure. Fine, let's move on.

  13. This may seem far fetched, but my theory is that football transfer speculation/news was the precise origin point of fully commercialised fake news (ignoring various programmes of war propaganda from history). I maybe generalising massively but for me sites like Team Talk were amongst the first sites to monetise lies and information with no basis in fact and with zero oversight. Yes tabloids have been printing horse cack long before there was Team Talk, but it feels like there was some degree of comeback however small on any damaging lies. Football speculation is seen as harmless, rarely triggers legal challenges as people now expect it to be about 1% accurate. Twitter then took that model, amplified it 100% and reduced the accuracy down to 0.1%.

  15. No point trying to put a value on a player. He's worth whatever his club think he's worth. It's like if Leicester or something started sneering at Grealish's valuation last year and started saying things like "he's worth £12-15 max". We'd rightly laugh off their patronizing asses.

  16. I don't really get the constant comparing of championship teams asking big money for their players, to us asking big money for Grealish last summer. Grealish is easily one of the best players to ever grace the championship, he's proven over more than one season, a champions league club bid £25m for him, and others were interested, there have been calls for him to play for England, he's unique in that he has a style of play that not many other players can offer. Of course other clubs are within their right to aks for whatever they want for their players, but the difference is Grealish was actually worth the money being talked about for him.

  17. No different to us asking for a big fee for Grealish. It’s what they are worth to the team/club not so much ability. Bristol City are well within their rights to ask for an excessive fee just as we were for Grealish.

  27. You’re being biased. Sure we are a bigger club but Leicester are looking to challenge top six, we are looking to stay up. Might all be different in a year but that’s the reality now.

  34. 100% true. Look at Sanchez at United. On 500k a week because he was ‘free’ but then upsets the dressing room because ‘how come he’s on twice what I’m on boss’!? ‘Well he was free’? You can understand why it would upset certain players at United. Could do with out that starting here.

  35. I think Jota was our squad filling winger. I imagine whoever else we sign in that position will be very much a starting XI signing and expected to deliver.

  36. He can play out wide and upfront and will probably be happy coming off the bench. Why on earth would we get rid? We already need to sign a shit load of players, why add another to the list?

  37. Update on the basketball career. So I make my debut tonight at 9pm. We've since recruited an American who has played professionally in Asia, Europe and Australia to our team. Turns out this league is 100% legitimate and not just well marketed. Players from last season have been given professional contracts throughout Asia. I've never been able to live off of my basketball talent, their isn't enough money in the third tier in Australia. This league give me that opportunity. I'm not even particularly excited, I just feel like I'm in a good place and ready to give it a shot. I spent my childhood dreaming of playing as a pro and the majority of my life preparing to be just that. I don't feel inclined to let emotion or expectation have a detrimental impact on my game, I'm just here for the love of the sport and we'll see what might come with that.
