  5. Dean Smith, overrated, cog in the wheel, not tactical enough, can't get the players playing, Steve Bruce got us to the playoffs last season, shouldn't be given time to implement his systems, not seeing the system, diabolical, can't handle the pressure of a big club, this season is over, won't make the playoffs, Dean Smith wont get us doing a Fulham, win the next 9 games LOL in your dreams, Dean Smith out, Dean smith won't make that much difference, don't see the difference in dean's and brucies style of play, Villa are too big for Dean Smith to handle this isn't Brentford, leaking too many goals, not scoring enough goals, seeing no commitment or effort from the players maybe Dean Smith lost the dressing room. Dean Smith out!!! Where are they detractors now?, show your faces!

  6. Here I am ..... I did have lots of doubts - Aston Villa breaks more managers than it makes - I did question whether very limited success at two much smaller clubs was enough to tame the monster that is Aston Villa - I though he would and thought he was crumbling under the pressure. He seems to have come out the other side and I am fully behind him now. Even if we don't go up this year I now think having gone on such a run he now has credibility in the dressing room ( oh err missus !), which I feared he may be lacking in the early stages. UTV.

  7. I was celebrating last weekend with friends after passing the interview (and drawn-out application process) to become a Team Leader at work. I found out yesterday that they're putting me on the higher pay scale because I smashed the interview . Guess I'll be celebrating this weekend again (this time with family in Birmingham).

  11. I've hated Steve Bruce since this game. I don't think I've ever seen a more blatant targeting of a player before. They could have destroyed Jack's career before it even got started with a few more bad tackles like those. When Bruce was announced as our manager, I immediately thought back to this game and was sickened...

  23. Delighted as I am at todays result. I did feel a little Bolton - a seemingly dodgy owner, players and staff not being paid - and relegated today with barley a whimper, shame from one of englands oldest clubs. Reminded me of the dark days of last July for us.- and how things might have been had messrs Edens and Sawari not stepped in at the 11th hour.

  32. I was there today, and spent the second half stood next to a mate in row A so I've spotted myself in the crowd for both of the goals. It was a very professional performance. The sun was hot - it was 26C outside the stadium apparently - and we've got another game on Monday. The first half we were in control without really looking like carving them open, despite having one cleared off the line. If it was a boxing match we were in the middle of the ring landing jabs and making them dance with a view to knocking them out later in the fight. Well that was precisely what happened. We came flying at them in the second half, just as we did against Bristol City. They couldn't live with Grealish dancing around them and most of our threat was him combining with El Ghazi and Taylor down the left. This was leaving lots of room for us to switch the play wide right to Adomah and Elmo who in acres most of the time. Smith and his coaching team know exactly where to focus from watching the first 45 and send the team out with clear instructions of how to exploit any gaps. It's no surprise we've started scoring goals early in the second period. The first goal was well-worked and well deserved. Tammy showing that infamous GTFABM and standing a ball to the far post for Grealish to nod home. The second was more of a scramble but was symbolic of our persistence and skill in tight space. Grealish chasing down a through ball, intercepting the back pass and flicking it goalwards for Tammy to bundle home. It was right in front of me and whilst it looked innocuous, Tammy was in a lot of pain. It's something to be concerned about if we're planning to win the play-offs. The substitutions were all sensible - McGinn of to avoid a booking, Axel off to avoid worsening an ankle injury. I've given man of the match to El Ghazi. He's become so persistent over the course of 90 minutes. His head doesn't drop if a dribble or a cross doesn't come off, and he chases back to support Taylor. One moment of skill in the second half was absolutely outrageous, flicking the ball right then left in a single movement. Bolton, like Bristol, just couldn't live with him. We're the team to avoid in the play-offs. We don't look like conceding unless it's a worldie and we look like we score when we want. Add to that our fans. The noise today was incredible. Whisper it, but I think we're going up.
