  2. I know its taken a while, but hopefully its just a sign that were now negotiating in a way that gets the best deals for the club, unlike our previous approach of throwing whatever they want at them. Negative to this is that we may see a few fall through in the future.

  4. Its been obvious for a while now Bruce has been developing a side that can play total football. Midfielders that can play in defence, Centre backs up front, and everyone able to cover crucial position of right back. El Ghazi just compliment Bruce's love of the Dutch playing style.

  5. I think I have posted this explanation before. Much of our law is based upon the test of a reasonable man. If I want to express a viewpoint I can. But only in a reasonable way. An action in my own home might be reasonable but the exact same action outside an infant school might be wholly innapropriate. Our right to reasonable free speech is as strong as its ever been. But we are quite rightly cracking down on idiots who think they have the right to express any view at any time they wish, wherever they wish and in a manner of their own choosing. It's one thing to tell your MP that y

  9. I was driving in to work today listening to BBC Radio 4, as I do on some occasion. I wept twice. The programme was about the stories of 4 Jewish Holocaust survivors, each with their own story. 1 being a Cello player, saved from death because he could play the Cello in a band outside block 12 in Auschwitz. As he was playing in the band towards the very end of the war, he Nazi's knowing the war effort was now lost, he witnessed them throwing people on a huge bonfire.. alive. At first he thought they were throwing animals onto the fire, but he soon realised. He had to keep playing. Wh

  12. I think this one is the key for me - for all it's (massive) faults, the EU was an obstacle to the corporate interest that controls the Conservative party - I think that distinction, which of the two things you see as most damaging, was to me the key in voting leave or remain. For me the question in the referendum was almost "There are two forces which are being undermined as democratic devices by the influence of business and money, which do you think is least affected?" For me, I think Phase one, leaving the EU - will protect and embolden our corrupt and closed party system. It puts more

  15. Long injury, no pre season games(?), high wages, I hope the gamble will be worth it if he signs! At the moment I'd rather spunk the wages on a striker and a cb. Jimmy can take Bolasie's place as wide forward.

  17. Smithy is right. Have we suddenly started to click ? Was McGinn the catalyst ? I hope it's a yes to both of those questions, because if so, with the players we now have, I can only see an upward trajectory. We have to caution against caution, it's imperative we use that momentum and impose ourselves. All good teams have that presence about them, they win more than they lose and we have to become that kind of side, play like the lions we should be. UTV.

  19. Splendid, what could be more desirable for us than another club's version of Richards? Sign him up, dammit! That's not true though. Once he came back from injury last season he played every game. He was clearly a big part of their first team squad. Richards on the other hand couldn't get onto the bench of 2 pre-season Villa squads that played on the same day as each other.

  20. Cracking typo btw There are horrendous stories that we just never hear. Probably for the best in terms of mental health. But yeah, I'm glad you still have hope for humanity. Regarding "Can't we just start at being nice, caring, decent people first?". We're a savage species at heart. We have a society by the skin of its teeth. It takes very little for us to systemically turn on each other, and even less to do it on an individual basis. This current climate of antipathy towards the very people our governments have displaced through war is only the latest in thousands of years of war

  21. Just watched the game for the first tine. I knew the score so was able to watch it objectively. I can't believe people are saying he had a bad game. He was exceptional and on a whole different level to everyone else on the pitch. Overall it was a surprisingly good performance from everyone against a good team. Maybe the best performance under Bruce. I've seen posts being negative about some of the others too—Jedinak, Tuanzebe, Whealan...all these had probably either their best game in their new position or their best game in ages.

  22. **** me.. has Bruce finally seen the light? First new fluent football where we looked really good and now realising how good the lad is and has finally twigged he is actually a centre back and will play him there. If he keeps this up he will be winning some of the Bruce out camp over. (Gutted there is no option to buy Tuanzebe at the end. Man utd know what they have on their hands and he will be one of the best centre backs in the world within 5 years imo)

  23. I have no monopoly on principles. This is a debate and I'm representing myself. As for the weird example pitching people on the side of slavers and empire, I'm not sure how I respond to that. Hitler is the usual 'go to', slavers and empire, that's a new spin and I congratulate you on this novel approach.

  28. It seems that last weekend he was informed that his minority ownership shares were being converted into deferred shares, which means that he has no voting rights, will earn no dividend, and these deferred shares can be purchased by AVFC at any time for £1 a share. That would explain the extra £30 million in share value added on the 20/08/18. As Xia said .... "not a pleasant weekend"! Add to that the fact that there wasn't a Recon logo in sight at this morning's BMH press conference, and it demonstrates that our new owners are going quietly and efficiently about their business.

  29. We need to continue this improvement tomorrow. No QPR post Wolves performance. Take it to Reading and give them a hiding and show what we can do. There's a bit of pressure on places now. Another few days of understanding at the back so hopefully defence will be improved but we should be putting down our marker on the league. We've had a nice softish start and need to take advantage of that.

  30. Yeah, we can't change anything of consequence, but it's surprising what little changes we can bring about. Because I'm weird I do little challenge thing I set myself. Often in the canteen at work. I've had three recent successes - all involving "miserable" people serving or working the tills. The first one was "I'm gonna make that person smile" (person was always grimly mopey). After about 3 weeks of various lame quips etc. on my part I got a friendly smile and a laugh. (yeah, yeah, then I put it way again...). Next was a till person. I'm gonna get them them to chat to me (they'd barely u

  34. Straight swap for Richards and McCormack? I'd love to spend 5 minutes on a training ground with Bielsa and McCormack. Apparently McCormack was desperate to come back when he heard your gaffer had the lads doing 3 sessions a day. '3 sessions a day boss? Sounds great, I'll get the first round in'

  39. Well, yes, I share the view that the UK political system, and the West generally has a broken model. Our system in the UK isn't fit for purpose. It gives complete control to a single party where the majority votes against that party. Where the SNP can get 50 seats with fewer votes than the UKIPs who get no seats, where smaller parties (in vote share) are under represented and larger ones over represented. SO the issues that UKIPs or Green or whatever voters want addressed get swamped under the juggernaut of Tory or Labour interests and the tribal Red v Blue above country nature of it. Lea

  40. Well that's easily turned around isn't it? Tories always happy to skim a buck off people at any opportunity now appear hell bent on closing off markets and opportunities. There's a nose being cut off here, because once a long time ago, an arse said we'd all get £350 million. It's about a lot more than 'money'. It's about the actual jobs. I don't think the workers at Airbus are so much worried about the exchange rate as they are having a job at all. I don't think the inshore shellfish industry is worried about a slightly lower price for oysters as they are worried about not having a m
