  1. Dannt Dyer being asked about brexit on good morning britain, not because he made a fool of himself but because he said what i think a lot of normal people are thinking "Wheres that clearing in the woods david cameron? Should be held accountable for what hes done but hes off in Nice with his trotters up, clearing in the woods" Cant help but smile at david cameron being called a clearing in the woods twice on morning tv

  2. How dare you insinuate that our Supreme Leader, Promotion expert and tactical genius aka "Who else could we get?" aka "I've not had millions to spend" is interested in the big money we pay him? "Mass Hysteria".

  3. I hate these cryptic tweets. Well its either moon walking - blue moon -so off to Man City (snake). Or, just taking a final swipe at Bruce; massive ball bag.

  4. It's crucial they get James fit. If he's fit and confident he's world class.

  5. Mistakes we made were around who we actually recruited, the lack of strategy of which players we actually need for what system and the manager selection. If you get those wrong then it doesn't matter what you spend. It is destined to fail.

  9. The Birmingham Mail have written an excessive amount of articles regarding potential new owners which don’t actually really have any information or journalistic content. Otherwise, no. im looking forward to the Birmingham Mail’s exclusive tomorrow which outlines what fans think the new owners should wear at any press conference.

  14. Im probably out of step here, but the guy had to make split second decisions. It is easy to say with reference to numerous reports and the benefit of hindsight that he should have done this that and the other, he didn't have that option. I would have to question whether he would get a fair trail such is the momentum that this thing has got going now.

  15. This is rubbish. I want rumour, dodgy ITK's, pictures of Xia with family and rich businessmen, Larry Ellison, I want it all. I heard that the American party took a look around on Monday and another group on Tuesday.. Where's @thetrees with reports on all the rich people who have flown into Birmingham International?! Call this a bloody takeover?!

  16. And what are the odds of 4 people from the same country all getting luck one after the other, but not necessarily being the first to get luck on the day? And could they even get luck again afterwards?

  17. I'm not disagreeing on the spending, I am just saying that we didn't do it in the right way. We have purchased championship players for high fees/wages, with no real chance of a sell on value. The second season we have purchased experienced players who are nearing the end of their careers on high wages. There was no coherent strategy and no plan B. That is the failure. Spending our way out of the league was not necessarily a bad plan, it was the execution of it that was. I've talked about it before but we have bought players who all fit different teams and different ways of playing. Teams like Fulham, Wolves, Cardiff and even Newcastle go in players that fitted what they were trying to do. Just look at us signing Kodjia and McCormack in the same window or Hogan in the Jan window. No strategy.

  19. Heading out to the Jewellery Quarter on Saturday. A few of my mates haven’t been drinking there before, so I’m looking forward to showing them some of the pubs that can be found there. The clifden, the church, rose villa, the button factory and maybe the red lion will all be receiving our custom. Hopefully we’ll have time for the Victoria before the last train back.

  22. I don't know for sure that any other clubs have been so reckless. The only example I can think of is Leeds when they were chasing champions league. Newcastle - largely kept their existing squad together - I wasn't aware they went on the spending spree in terms of transfer fee's that we did Brighton - Don't know about wages - But I don't recall a big splash in the transfer market Lets not forget over a period of two seasons a as a championship club, we spent big on wages and fees - close to £60 80m on fees alone, not many prem clubs can do that , this was from a relegated loss making position - IMO thats as reckless as it can get. I can't agree that all of this would have been avoided if we won promotion - For starters Xia would have had to pay Randy another £20m or so (the terms of the purchase) - Then there is the fact we wouldn't see any TV money until the end of the 2018/9 season

  26. Pithy. As In terse etc. But pith is also part of a fruit, and a pith helmet is a hat made from such, as for example worn by British soldiers in India. I mention this because whenever I see the word pith I’m reminded of a postcard ( a piece of card with, for example, a scenic view or - rather unfashionably in hindsight - bawdy cartoon that people would post Home from their holidays, for anyone under 40 out there) my late Mom for some reason found hilarious .....an Officer shouting at a Private “ Pith Off Private”.... and the soldier replying “ But Thir, Ive only Juth got here” ?

  27. I know, I'm telling you our accounts show a 83m loss at Villa. So he won't be able to make up the losses anytime soon. IF he stays and we don 't get 'fresh' money (away from his web of loss making entities) we will definitely enter administration. He's made a complete hash of it all here and I want him out and as fast as possible. His ownership has been nothing short of a disgrace. His communication a joke and his general demeanor very very amateurish. #XiaOut

  28. Rubbish. It wasn't a good experiment, it was a gamble everything move. If i put my life savings on red and it came up black, no one would say it was a good experiment. And the fact we failed has caused issues with FFP. Our finacial issues in regards to just paying bills each month, are thanks to the terrible way we have been run

  30. Tomorrow is my last day. After having my notice in for a few months now, I will be released back into the regular world after 17 years in the Army. I am feeling mainly relieved, then excited, and a little apprehensive. My send off is tomorrow afternoon, and my Sergeant Major wants me to give a spiel to the junior soldiers about what it means to commit to the Army for 17 years, as he believes it is something that means something or something. I don't bloody know. I just want to fade away, because in the end it does feel quite meaningless to me. I am not one to give sermons, just let me throw out a few jokes or so, such as there is a zimmer frame out there with my name on it somewhere. I honestly feel like I am reclaiming more from life by getting out than I did when I was in. If there is still a Villa Park this season, my plan is to make the pilgrimage now that I have the time and freedom. I would need help from fellow VTers in helping with the logistics, such as how to get tickets, otherwise I have no idea. But this another story for another thread later. The company I am angling to join actually offers positions in the UK. Who knows? I find this optimistic wondering of what could happen quite exciting. It feels like my life truly begins at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.

  31. Oh dear. Websters English dictionary defines cherry picking as: "Selectively choose (the most beneficial or profitable items, opportunities, etc.) from what is available." No issue with understanding the concept of Cherry picking here. ? Thanks for trying though. Let's apply this to what happened in this thread: You chose to selectively chose a time and date when the club was in its worst position to back your argument as to what was achievable for the manager (in your mind - not the clubs) and criticize the point in time someone else chose, where the club was in a more favourable position and actually the stated objectives were easier to achieve. The fact that your cherry picked date was the day he started - is irrelevant. It is still Cherry picking a situation to support your (false) narrative. Good god, not this sh*t again. Amazing! Google it yourself or read back through this thread, or read one of the quotes that others have helpfully responded with, where everyone in authority at the club said that his target was promotion.

  32. People lionize him but he was weak. He had a head of steam and a voter mandate in 2008 and blew it. In his second term he didn't have to play the same political game but he was still feckless and cowed on too many things and on other things just wrong. All the Dems weaknesses are starting to haunt them again. Afraid to turn the blade as always. They gifted the GOP the Gorsuch seat and now "Judge Janine" will be nominated for the new seat. Absolute pushover politics.

  34. This is the age group you want playing though. It's the failure to bring them on further that hurts, and I think the FFA are largely to blame for this. I've been playing here in various leagues for nearly 20 years, and the one consistent thing has been a complete lack of organisation, plan, and most importantly money invested in the amateur leagues. Colleague of mine was on the books of Brisbane Roar a few years back as an apprentice, but had to jack it in as the money was so terrible, he just couldn't afford to live. Then he had to stop playing in the top state league, as the money was virtually non-existent yet the training required meant he couldn't hold down a full time job. You're right about the costs - I recently had to pay $500 for my 10 year old daughter to play in the girls U11 league!

  37. TBQH I don't understand people not understanding. Football is extremely tribal and built on rivalries, and yes a healthy amount of schadenfreude goes with the territory. 'Laughing' at other teams' misfortune is part and parcel of the game. It always has been. I can understand non-football fans not understanding it, but football fans know fine well how it all works. So when I hear a football fan being fauxtraged at other fans laughing at rivals, I just see it as them seizing on a manufactured opportunity to lord it over people from some artificial moral high ground.

  38. Dunno. Remember Luis Suarez trying to get booked in that game for Barca so he missed Las Palmas before Atleti? The ref refused to book him for maybe 5 or 6 incidents that were worthy of a yellow in the last 10 minutes of the game.
