  1. To be fair that tweet he responded to was bloody ridiculous - I find it hard to understand how any Villa fan can criticize what he has done this window and to suggest he is a liar is just insulting. I love our club and our support but a small minority of our fan base are complete ******* *****

  4. To be honest, those people can go suck a dick. Hopefully I'll be able to ignore them for long enough and they'll STFU eventually. I mean think about it for a second and try to imagine how much of a **** buzzkill you'd have to be to then moan about the misuse of the phrase "world class", from a man who has just pumped £50m into buying players for your club. A forward line of McCormack, Hernandez and Gestede is basically cheating at this level.

  5. Whoever it is, the only thing certain is that the first post after the announcement will say he is not world class.

  6. Probably a sign how well things have gone that we could potentially have McCormack and Hernandez as our two main strikers next week and people suggesting our wonderful owner might get stick because he used the wrong word in a tweet! Does it really matter - McCormack and Hernandez would be bloody fantastic - both prolific and know the league.

  8. If we sign Hernandez I honestly don't think Xia will get any stick whatsoever. People know that we're not going to sign a world class player in the truest sense of the word. But it gives us a bit of hope that it might be someone who you'd think would normally be too good for the Championship.

  11. Midfielder essay-length post again sorry but Ok so there's further speculation that Morrison is closer. More often than not, with repeated links and seemingly no one else in the frame, links like that are often a case of no smoke without fire. Me, I haven't voiced this on here yet, but originally I was against the Morrison .My thinking was that he is a complete risk, cliches about leopards not changing their spots, a disaster waiting to happen etc. The guy has displayed massive immaturity throughout his career, but here he is picking up Man U wage, West Ham wage, lazio wage and I'm sure a move ouldn't be on a pay cut. So I assume he is paid handsomely despite his career output thus far. Someone with that alleged amount of skill should have fully convinced me and others by now, his previous bosses especially. what a gift it is in life, to be able to get paid to play football at the top level as your actual vocation. No shifts, no struggling to make ends meet, no hire purchase buys. Women on tap, luxury on tap. And of course the actual on the pitch achievements a career like that brings. The latter he is devoid of. I'm suspicious of Morrison because in terms of opportunity, he was blessed in life at United and screwed it up. I'm obviously no united fan but villa aside, to be a pro given the chance to play there you would work your ass off to make good of it. Since then other chances wasted similarly. I'm still suspicious. However... We are absolutely light in attacking midfield options, there clearly is at least one vacancy. But in RDM and tony I trust. We have Steve Clarke who is absolutely no pussy nor pussy cat. Without doubt Morrison is a rough diamond, almost in the last chance saloon of being taken seriously as a footballer. Maybe villa is the right club at the right time. I believed this for Grealish too. I have forgiven Grealish for his lacks of professionalism and the lad makes me proud this season. Lads. Imagine a dressing room with Elphick, Jedinak McCormack and the rest. And of course Clarke. Those are some zero BS chaps who I am sure will keep any personality in check. I could think I was the dogs B and strut around bodymoor Heath and disconnect from the cause or be anonymous in a match with minimal effort and a focus on off the pitch joys, but deep down I know (and for that type of wage) one of those guys would for sure hair dryer the F out of me and bring me in line. That's the role of one of our many leaders. Positive aggression is rife in our team, it wasn't last year. Me I rarely give a second chance to anyone, which is sad I guess but Morrison on his N'th chance, I'm prepared to give one to. We are so absent of dynamic flair. I'm talking old school Juninho style and Morrison can do that type of play. If he was made to work / put the effort in off his own back he can achieve great things at villa. He can win us over with on the pitch magic, the Thierry Henry style goals, the selfless layoffs for strikers. This is the Morrison I would be hoping for. ---- Ravel, in case you surf fan forums such as this, I'd like to say the following directly to you, albeit from me, a random Joe off the street who doesn't know you personally but anyway this is my opinion: You have a talent that you owe to yourself and any employer to absolutely achieve all you can with. So it seems, AVFC is a prospective employer. Despite your wealth, you owe the game. You need to find the right team, accept the various personalities within and knuckle down. Here, if you give it your all and behave, you will be worshipped. Think back to when you were a kid in the playground running rings around all the other kids in the playground, smiling , playing the game with that level of love and joy. Come here and play like that. There are players here who will guide you, staff who will bring the best out of you. You may be at Lazio, but your career needs CPR. We are not another pay cheque or destination. Make something of your CV and add Villa to it. We actually do need you too, there is an opportunity for you here, the one your career needs. I didn't want you here originally, it's surely no surprise to you that you are seen as a risky signing for any club. So prove everyone wrong and most importantly, prove it for yourself. Up the villa.

  12. Translation: " My crew and myself are ultimately responsible for steering this big expensive ship called Aston Villa around. While you are hiding behind your Dad's laptop or sitting on the toilet with your iPhone, we are dealing with players, their agents, clubs, their managers, and UK customs. So please, STFU and let us get on with it, we are getting it done if we haven't already."

  14. Yes to echo previous points made, if we poo poo the signing of someone like hernandez because they are not 'world class' as the common man understands the phrase, then it's open season for fans of any other club to call us deluded.

  18. Do we really need to get rid of Westwood? He hasnt got a toxic attitude and he isnt a bad influence on others as far as I'm aware. At this point there is competition for places even more so if we bring in 1 or 2 more in the midfield. The way it goes from there is he fights for his spot, if he is good enough he gets in if not he warms the bench or plays reserves. Then he is either happy or unhappy with his role, and he stays or asks to go..... but 'get rid' of a decent player that conducts himself well and tries hard, when we are in the championship and have a minimum of 48 games to play, seems a tad trigger happy to me.

  23. As someone who was unsure if he was a good choice I think he has done really well so far. I have been hugely impressed with his dealings in the transfer market and am pleased with every signing and think the signings of Elphick, McCormack, Chester and Jedinak are fantastic additions. We have had a mixed bag results wise but I think performances have been decent overall but it is clear for all to see we, and RDM as a manager, is massively hampered by a lack of midfield and forward options. This has led to a dip in performance in the second half on a number of occasions as we don't have any game changers on the bench. The pleasing thing though is that Di Matteo knows we need more players and he has the means to bring them in. I am confident come the end of the window we will have a squad that will mean we can maintain the level of performance we have been showing in the first half of games and this will result in turning draws into wins. This was always going to be a big ask to turn around the mess he inherited but the turn over in personnel and the quality and make up in terms of the character and mental attitude of the new players has so far been beyond my expectations. So much so I have gone from thinking that promotion was a huge ask to now thinking, with the 3 or 4 additions I still expect to see us make, we could be well in the mix. Di Matteo, along with the owner, have to take huge credit for what they have done so far.

  25. 4 games in, 2 clean sheets, 2 goals conceded. We had a lot to turn around from last year. The hardest thing is to stem the tide of goals. We've done that (or we're showing signs we have!) Goals will come as players come in and players gel. Quietly impressed with RDM after being lukewarm after the first 2 games.

  26. This is a good post about unnecessarily reading into things about comments posted online and their phrasing. But when DDID says "go suck a dick", do we think he's referring to any particular dick? If so, why only a singular dick? Is this dick the first choice dick, or are there simply no other dicks available? Or could he mean a man named "Dick"- deliberately using a lower case "d" to confuse matters?

  32. That certainly seems to be what the club is doing. The signings are all "good attitude" people. The players picked for the games have as far as has been possible, been similar. The thing with Gabby is that aside from the level of his "performance" last season, during the season, while not injured, he got himself into such a poor state of fitness that he had to be sent off to do extra work to get himself fit. He rendered himself unpick able due to total unprofessionalism and if the stories are to be believed also played a part in undermining his boss. That kind of thing renders him pretty much persona non grata when you need a team and a squad with an ethos of togetherness, commitment and will to do all they can to win. He'll be very very lucky to get another chance

  33. No idea who we are after. However we don't want Morrison because of his past behavioral problems. It's as reliable info as you can get to be honest. Won't say anymore then that.

  35. He deserves time. 6 months+ without a game is tough. The fallout for Amavi's embarrassment against Luton wasn't quite the same. But he's Amavi.

  37. I personally don't dislike him per se but can understand why some do. He gets an absurd amount of coverage and attention for someone who's only ever won 2 bronzes in 3 Olympic games. There are literally dozens of other British athletes who have performed much better but don't get half the coverage he does. It's not really his fault I guess. I think a lot of his fame is down to how young he was when he first broke through.

  38. I actually think he's been one of our best players this season. Yes he gives away silly fouls from time to time but no winger has really given him the run around so far and we've played two of the better teams already. I'd be fine with him continuing at RB until January.

  39. I think it's a bit harsch on him. Except that stupid tackle towards the end I thought he did a good job defensively, tracked back good, made some important tackles and won a couple of headers in the middle of the pitch. He passed the ball around fairly well and at least tried some through balls. I'd give him a 6 of 10 and thought there was no big difference between him and Westwood today. If his shot had gone inches more to the right he would have made all the difference in the game and won us three points. A couple of games, some more confidence, getting to know the teammates better and I think he can be a good player for us in the Championship, at least I'd give him a couple of more games before writing him off.

  40. Solid, reliable and dependable. Goes unnoticed as he does the simple things right. A luxury we haven't had at centre back for a while. I like the look of Chester and Elphick, both committed and full blooded, bursting with passion. Add Jedinak in front of them and it looks even better.

  41. I sincerely hope he isn't given it. We're a club aiming for promotion, not a charity for down-on-their-luck footballers. Sorry, but no.

  42. I've got to disagree mate, after last season we need to judge players on their attitude and willingness to fight for the football club. There is a feel good factor amongst the fans at the moment and i think it would be terrible management to risk that by playing someone so out of favour with the fans. RDM knows that, thats why he prefered to have 5 defenders on the bench against Huddersfield, and a half fit Kozak yesterday. As i said, there is no way Gabby will ever play for us again.
