  1. So any old chap who goes over there with the intention of following the England team and gets bottled by some nutter is all well and good because 1) he's English and 2) it's karma. Absolutely disgusting.

  2. Aaah, you'll be fine in 2018 providing you aren't black, or gay, or female, or from anywhere that isn't Russia.

  3. I'd like to understand what a "change of government" looks like in a totalitarian dictatorship. But not in this thread.

  4. An utterly reprehensible comment. You have no idea who these two people are. Watching a lot of this footage is not comfortable reading. It shows many incidents where Russians are indiscriminately attacking any English in sight and it all appears to be premeditated. In several clips, the Russians are all dressed in black. I wouldn't have gone out there if you'd have chained me. I have a friend going out to Lille next week and he now wishes that he wasn't. England have caused major problems over the years but a great deal of time, money and effort has gone into getting rid of our troublemakers. Thousands of known troublemakers have to report to police stations up and down the country whenever England are playing abroad. The "English disease" is a thing of the past, blown up for some reason at every tournament because it sells papers. The overwhelming majority of English out there have gone for a party. Eastern Europeans on the other hand crave conflict and violence. It looks like they got it-At the expense of many innocent English over the past couple of days.

  6. Makes me laugh driving around all the nice areas with multi million pound houses with "vote out" signs on the front gardens. It appears these people have really struggled being a part of the E.U.

  7. Who is 'we'? How can you legislate for the minority of idiots causing trouble in bygone tournaments thereby making it okay for anyone from an entire nation to be attacked at will and it to simply be a case of 'oh, they're from England, they must have been causing a bit of trouble and they deserve it'. It's absolute bollox.

  8. I went to school with Emma Griffiths (now Emma Willis). I saw her in Mere Green a couple of years after we left school, an gave her a lift home. She left her gloves in my car. I didn't think she would be bothered, but she got my number from some friends an called me to see if I could drop them round her parents house, which I duly obliged.

  9. Let's be fair, combined from all nations, there were probably only about 3,000 fans at the rugby World Cup. It's like me saying I went to the World Pokemon Card Tournament and there was no trouble.

  11. This may sound silly but I'm only 25 and I find it fascinating and reassuring that these debates still rage on and these injustices still burn. It shows football hasn't actually changed TOO much. I'm just imagining being 60 and telling my grandkids "there was this guy called Charles N'Zogbia. Used to "play" for Villa. I still hate him. Now let me tell you about the McLeish era...gather round...".

  12. Ok-Perhaps this is a tad controversial but here is my take on it. I am lucky, I do not have the same feeling for England that I do for the Villa. I hadn't watched a game since Brazil and didn't feel anywhere near the disappointment from the last minute equaliser as I did from the many times that its happened to Villa. However, I feel the English are getting a raw deal here. I have not seen one bit of footage that shows the English as instigators. You have a few hundred local hooligans there, who were there for one purpose and that was to fight and cause trouble. The Russians also seemed prepared for trouble, with reports of many of them wearing gum shields, balaclavas, hoods etc. The English were all drinking in bars and were happy to have stayed there. There could have been 2000 Dutch, German or anyone else in and around the area and it wouldn't have been a problem. The problems arose when gangs of Russians came from nowhere and attacked English people randomly. many fans were wearing England shirts-When was the last time an English hooligan wore a football shirt? Throwing bottles at police is unacceptable and cannot be defended but its almost as if people can't wait for this type of thing to happen. When was the last time that the English kicked off in a tournament? The past few tournaments have passed off peacefully if I recall? It is really only Eastern European countries who are still doing this stuff nowadays. I have found much of what I have watched over the past 2 days to be sickening. Its bullying and cowardice at its highest. There is a Stan Collymore video out there where a channel 4 news reporter tells him that the Russians all flew into Switzerland and then hired cars to take them to France in order to avoid detection. The English flew straight there and set up camp in the port with flags-Which of the two sets were planning trouble? The songs and chanting are annoying but would it be any different if Villa or any other English club was playing in Marseille in such a big game? It was England fans this time. Next time it could be Villa fans-We need to keep this into perspective. At what point do you not retaliate or defend yourself? I've always thought the English got a raw deal abroad-My feeling is that sometimes the fans need defending and this is one of those occasions.

  15. I never knew so many England fans wanted "Randy Lerner Out" until I realised last night that they were singing "Don't take me home" . Bit harsh a nation wanting him out of the country as well as Villa Park.

  16. The Indie We're having a referendum on an issue that the country is ludicrously misinformed about. In some cases, the populations impressions of EU figures are so far out as to be absurd. Farcical.

  17. No, I don't think so. He was clear what he wanted:- 2010 Tory Manifesto: "Net migration will be in the 10's of thousands, no ifs, no buts...that's a promise" and he said it on the telly debates as well. Cameron 2014 Tory Party Conference: "Numbers have increased faster than we wanted...too much for communities and job market...has to change...in my renegotiation I will not take no for an answer...I will get what Britain needs on freedom of movement" 2016 negotiation and he didn't even ask for it after being told by Merkel that as a founding principle it was non-negotiable. And so they did this possible qualifying period for 4 year benefits thing. Not planned, just a fig leaf for impossible domestic claims. Like with many of his and Osborne's schemes, plans and promises - they tried to be clever but are essentially incompetent and reality soon gets them found out. A pair of clever fools, basically. Cameron repeatedly promised something that was not possible. The out people are also promising something on immigration which is not possible, in or out of Europe. They (either side) absolutely will fail to get immigration to the level they say they want. It's completely gone unrealistic the whole in/out thing. Just more and more extreme and non-credible claims and promises being made. Utter bonkers.

  18. I know his free kick was a bit poor and the keeper should have saved it but should we be looking at this Bale lad for Wales, has played in Championship before with Southampton so even scored 5 goals.

  20. Because many of the same people that I have seen on social media asking for journalists not to tar every England fan with the same brush because of the actions of a few idiots are the same people who I have seen berate all Muslims or all immigrants because of the actions of a few. I know yesterday the Russians were largely to blame. Certainly to blame in the staidum. But some England fans that day and mainly the day before were trashing the place and behaving in an embarrassing manner.

  21. Off you go. All those that relegated us are happy to go now arent they. Dont even try and convince them. Bring in players who want to fight for this club. We got relegated for a reason. Heartless bunch of over paid rocket polishers.

  22. It's my birthday weekender. I've been to 3 gigs in 3 days. Watched some football yesterday. Bought this 1970's radio: Just put a massive pork roast in the oven (!). Red Arrows are due to fly over my garden in about an hour's time (no, really). I've just about got the shakes under control now, I think I had a bad bag of nuts up the club yesterday....

  23. I'm not sure singing deliberately offensive chants, or being drunk and disorderly is really anything noteworthy. That's a misdemeanour at worst. The one unforgivable thing I've seen from England fans is a handful of idiots throwing things at police. Meanwhile there are groups of Russian thugs that have literally been preparing for this tournament in training camps, and said over the last few weeks and months that they're going to "obliterate" English fans. There's some videos of English fans fighting and throwing stuff. In a lot of them you'll see a bunch of normal looking fans, up against some Russians all wearing dark clothing with their faces covered. The videos obviously all begin part way through the trouble, but eye witnesses mostly describe ultras jumping any English fans they find, whether they were chanting, drunk, or not. The French police are abysmally out of their depth, they've lost control of the city. We'll see what happens over the next few days when fans go their separate ways. I doubt it'll be the English fans continuing to be involved in these fights.

  24. I did a full day at Lords for the test match and then watched England down the pub with mates and drank Diet Coke and sparkling water all day interestingly I realised at the end of the night just how much bollock people speak when drunk so I've vowed to never be sober in a pub again

  31. The performance of England was not the problem. Its the fact he had a guy sitting on the bench who scored 24 Premier League goals last season not getting a minute. Lallana and Sterling are not going to score too many goals and Kane looked very heavy legged so why didn't Vardy get on!

  32. That makes more sense. I was tired. I do take a beer with me sometimes when i walk the dog around Rookery park after work . In my defense i am usually wearing shirt, shoes and tie though. And it's a shar pei rather than a staffy. High end chav me.

  33. there are 3 ways to go with this, the opinion that america needs to do something about their gun laws, the opinion that america needs to do something about its homophobia or the opinion that america needs to do something about muslim attacks on their soil from what ive seen our media at least seems to be reporting on the first one, i expect the american media is reporting the 3rd, id expect very little to be being said about the 2nd one, its not a islam thing in the states, its a largely christian thing too, if they want to start putting things about reaping what you sow, look at the last 6 months in america, look at how they are openly being homophobic in the south with the laws they've introduced

  39. We don't. People react like we are going into the champions league. We have a core group that are absolute toxic. Lescott, Gabby, Richards need removing from that dressing room. We have some talent, Grealish, Ayew, Gana, Amavi ( if we can keep them) We need to add 5-6 I'd say.

  40. Hal Robson Kanu??? No thanks One scuffed shot in a European Championships doesn't elevate him to good player status in my book. IMO we need to look at the future by getting in players that will not only get us out of the Championship but will do a job in the Premier League. We need to build a squad mentality and assemble a group of players that can perform together for the next 3-4 seasons. Signing the likes of HRK will just mean having to sign more players if we go up as he has shown he is not good enough at the top level. We'd be lumbered with his wages and sending him out on loans until his contract winds down.

  44. This is an example of why having Black in charge **** us, not giving someone like Veretout a single minute is disgraceful. He's in his early twenties and one of the ones we could use to bounce back and hopefully with momentum turn into a decent PL midfielder but he just got complete ignored. It's encouraging that he wants to see where Di Matteo sees him fitting into this plans rather than just wanting to bugger off, which if I were him I'd probably want to do.
