  1. It's a lot easier to just have digs online while doing **** all, I guess. Full credit to them, at the very least, the players and board are under no false impresssions.

  2. I was dismissive of this in the week. Partly because I misunderstood the intentions and partly because I thought that the recent changes were steps in the right direction (which they are) I now believe that the decision to carry on was the correct one. The board should not be allowed to rest on their laurels or think they have done enough. The pressure should continue. Well done again guys.

  3. I'd imagine there's a core group of players in the dressing room that are utterly poisonous (and I think we know who most of these are) who should be sold/sacked/isolated as a matter of urgency whereas there are a fair few who could probably play a part yeah. For me, the absolute must go's are: Guzan Hutton Lescott Richards Richardson Sinclair Agbonlahor

  6. Just back. It went fantastically well. We handed out 5000 banners before the game and a lot also bought their own. Thanks to those that helped us today. Going forward we intend to build on this now but I got to be honest we need more people stepping forward to help. This is pretty much a handful of people running this protest and at times it is hard.

  7. We absolutely would not miss them no. Players like Okore, Veretout, Gil, Ayew and Amavi could play a very positive part next season. Those are the only ones I'm really worried about losing.

  10. David Pleat Former Tottenham boss at Villa Park for 5 live Sport Posted at14:46 "In the last few games I'd take these foreign mercenaries out of the Villa team." What foreign mercenaries? It's the British contingent who have been at the heart of Villa's problems.

  11. Call me old fashioned, but I'm going to wait and see if the new board has a positive effect on anything before I start getting excited, because at the moment we're still playing horrendous football, with no manager heading for the Championship. I have yet to be convinced that this is anything other than putting a piece of tinsel on a dog turd.

  13. I agree. At some point (perhaps once we're officially down) I'd kind of hope that the support starts celebrating being us, being Villa. That yes players, managers, whoever are a shambles and an embarrassment, but that in the big scheme of the longer history and future timelines of the club, they're a small stain on the story, and that we should sort of just revel in being who we, as supporters are. Let's basically have a terrace party. I mean, why not? Nothing else is any fun, is it? We're brilliant, though.

  17. If anyone in the world deserves to be cut a bit of slack at Villa and given a chance to show he can do a job, it's surely Brian Little? Years of no football experience upstairs whatsoever, now we have one of our best ever players and the last manager to win us a trophy, not to mention someone who is clearly an intelligent articulate man, who has the club in his blood. From where I'm sitting that's a hell of an upgrade on what we had. And people are slating him already... the mind boggles.

  19. I'm beginning to feel real sympathy for this government. Poor bastards have only been in power 6 years how on earth can they influence anything. Cameron had to cut his holiday short to deal with whining steelworkers. Poor Javid Sajid had to take three days to come all the way back from his planned little holiday in Australia to tie himself up in knots trying not to lie in person (anybody see or hear that ITN interview? squirmingly uncomfortable lying in half finished sentences at it best / worst). But that's neither here nor there. Whilst George Osbourne has been chancellor, the nationalised RBS has lost a further £20,000,000,000 but during those same six years have stopped paying bonuses to branch staff, but luckily, have managed to continue paying bonuses to managers. Since 2010 RBS have paid out almost £2.000.000,000 in bonuses for it's highest earners. After 'donating' a cool million pound to charity in one year, the boss of RBS still had a further £2,380,000 of salary left over. Phew. But, there's nothing the Prime Minister and Chancellor of six years could do about that. I understand. Just as I understand that people that inherit million pound houses are unduly harmed by inheritance tax. Just as I understand the poor and disabled must be seen to contribute most to austerity. Just as I understand, if we want the Chinese to finance our nuclear power stations, we must accept their dumped steel. There is nothing this government could do about any of this. But I'm alright, I've got my xbox and my holiday. So everything is ok.

  20. I think Hutton is a bit hard done by in being included in this thread. There are some reasons why you might want to get rid of Hutton, he's not the best player in the squad, but in terms of his attitude, he's about the only player in this side who's shown a real determination to give his best. I'd keep him and I might even consider him for the armband next season.

  21. So you're telling me that you actually want to see many of these players as part of the team next season? No offence but that's absolute madness. I honestly don't understand how you can so easily criticise managers and lose faith in them but still continue to have faith in such abject and pathetic players?

  24. If the report is on performance enhancing drugs then at least we can be sure that no Villa players will be involved. Maybe everybody else will get 50+ point deductions and we will win the league?

  25. Ta. As the season's ended early, the players packed up long ago, everyone should be cordially invited to attend the "Support like Lions" travelling celebration of the Pride of the Holte End. Fancy dress or Villa paraphernalia encouraged. Venue - anywhere the team is playing, home and away. or some such.

  26. Because we are getting relegated because of our American owner and the French players and the French manager who was out of his depth, what we need is English, English, English It's the common thought about us, soccer Saturday ranted about it last week, David pleat today on five live said we were going down because of our foreign mercenaries... This is why I'm not sold on this football board, I'm not convinced they aren't just FA old boys, don't discount Stuart Pearce or Gareth Southgate yet

  27. I can't see how anyone could see Hutton as our worst player this season. He's been in the top three for me (admittedly it's not a great contest!)

  28. He gets applauded because he might be shit but at least he **** tries, far too often this season he's been our main attacking threat, it's embarrassing but it's because he runs up and down all day Couldn't work out what the second yellow was for, looked like lyden dived in to me

  29. In amongst that carnage there were reasonable performances from one or two individuals - not good performances, but enough so they don't have to be ashamed. Ayew looked a threat, particularly in the first half, Gil looked lively for a while, Gana and Hutton give you what they have. In the just about okay camp you can have Cissokho, Westwood and Gestede and Grealish had a decent cameo. Morale is rock bottom, luck is out (the Ayew deflection goes in on a better day) and the referee was utter rubbish. None of that was really important. Richards never broke out of a saunter, he and Lescott are the worst pairing in the league, and I think they'd struggle to be described as capable even in the next league, Sanchez is an accident waiting to happen and once the penalty was given, we quit. Chelsea quit once they'd added a couple more goals - I thought Ruben Loftus-Cheek looked very impressive for them and is exactly what we don't have. The protest was good, there were a lot of banners on display and the whole thing was delivered well - the paper planes provided plenty of entertainment. Another game nearer the end. Hopefully another game nearer the beginning.

  35. Remember when he signed and he was talking about his time in Italy maturing him and how he'd grown up and was desperate to crack on and work hard and get back into the England team and yadda yadda yadda Guy is a complete plank. **** him off out of this club.

  36. This really is like a "duck shoot" Every appointment is wrong and every move is frowned upon. What are these guys to do ....leave it as it is? When we are appraising the candidates for the new managers job.....It is highly, very highly unlikely that the CV is going to be flawless.....We will not attract those guys......its almost pointless making the point. We have cocked up many times and we could well do so again....but we must try our hardest to get a man that can make an impact in turning this ship around. He may not be the right man for the long term.....but right now we have a massive indiscipline problem at BMH and it requires IMMEDIATE attention. It is unlikely we are going to find someone that can tick every box imaginable, but we must first identify the most pressing need and match that man to that piece of criteria. The depths we have sunk it may take more than one manager to get us back to respectability. Ps On another note there will come a time very shortly when the negativity that is well justified has to stop.....The changes must be given a chance.

  37. I was going to mention him, hasn't been in the Stoke side recently but was in good form for them not so long ago and regularly scores goals when he gets a run. Good set piece taker aswell. If we're looking for a Kevin Nolan type who scored 15 when Newcastle were in the championship, I think Adam's as good a target as any.

  38. Already have one of those. It's called the A-team. We get to watch them every weekend, shooting but never hitting anything. Not a great show to be honest.

  39. I see Micah's tantrums about having to run at RB have earned him a move back to the centre. Eagerly awaiting the first person to say we look a different team without Garde because we do ok for 25 mins - as if we don't always start well before conceding.

  40. I fully agree TRO. I sometimes think that Villa fans have been fed up for that long that negativity is the only response known. Football, like life, is much better with some optimism. Let's hope that these new board members can start to rebuild Villa. They might fail, they might not. But criticising from off won't help.

  41. The second album is odd. Two tracks in, the record company told the band the studio budget was finished. Deviously, to pick up their fee, Dinger and Rother made an album's worth of noise out of the tracks they'd got in the can. Fast, slow, forwards, backwards and generally squished. Have you heard the term Motorik? They're the archetypal Motorik band. You know the Germans made absolutely mental music through the late 60s and early 70s? These are amongst the most influential. There are loads of bands that sound like these guys now. This is 'Fur Immer' from the second album.

  42. are you actually **** serious? watch the video again. 'crashes into him', you mean is tripped tackling albrighton and falls over into him. I'm not sure which part he is making a meal of, because he's already on the floor with Pearson's hand around his neck before he even comes to a stop. It was an absolutely **** ridiculous incident, with Pearson not letting go of McArthur's shirt as he tried to walk back onto the pitch and get on with the game. MON was called a lot of things for having the 'contretemps' with Reo Coker, and I don't remember it ever being confirmed that there was throttling, he specifically said there were no 'fisticuffs'. Some really odd revisionism.

  43. Dear Gabby. you were never my favourite not even for 10 games. In fact I always felt you were an incredibly lucky man to even have played 1 game for OUR fantastic club. I hope this is the end of a sorry saga. Yours sincerely hopefully soon to be a happy fan.

  44. I look at it differently. In logical steps, I thought the structure of the club was wrong (not enough football expertise or input) and I thought a number of people had done a very bad job. From that, I thought some things needed to change and people needed to be released. RL appointed Hollis, and based on his previous record of appointments and based on my own scepticism about business consultant types I was concerned that Hollis might be an oxygen thief, but also accepted that some of the consultant types genuinely are good at what they do. So it's promising for me that Hollis did pretty much exactly the things that I (most of us) thought needed doing - potting Fox, Almstadt. Getting someone like Brian Little and so on onto the board. In other words he's demonstrated, so far at least, that he knows what he's doing and has done it. it remains to be seen if he gets the next bit, the hard part, right, but the bloke has so far not put a foot wrong, really, so distrust is not merited. Wariness, still, yes.
