I think the empty Holte would be brilliant for a meaningful protest. However, the problems with this one, as have been pointed out, are numerous 1. First and foremost, it's too late, imo. Something like this needs a few weeks to organise. Despite the media attention, I don't think enough people will know about it. 2. Logistics/health and safety. There is no way that Villa Park will allow potentially 14,000 people to all enter the ground at once. it would be mayhem. ANd if people are all trying to get in after 8 minutes, chances are we'll still be filing in at half time. 3. No message. The message still isn't clear. What's the protest? The manager or the owner? Apparently it's now been clarified as the owner. Ok, what do we want? Him to leave? Well he wants to leave too so that's pointless. Are we just showing general unhappiness about his tenure? If so then why? Half of his tenure was brilliant. And again it's pointless, there's no end product. He wants to sell the club. 4. Lack of unity. Despite the negativity at the club at the moment, not everyone is willing to protest against it. I'm going tomorrow, in the Holte, and I certainly don't intend to protest. Not because I don't agree with the message (whatever it is) as such, just because I don't think protesting is the right way to go about it and I feel the protest futile as even if it happens it won't result in anything. Something like this requires everybody to do it. Not everybody will. I agree that the media attention this has gathered will make it embarrassing when this fails to materialise. but that should be a lesson to the "organisers". Fair play for wanting to do something about where the club is. I'm not against protesting in general. But if I protest I want to know what I'm protesting for, and I want to know that my protest will do something about the situation. Neither of those things have or will happen tomorrow. I also have a personal reason why I won't be protesting which isn't really anything to do with the club.

It might confuse a few of our players if there's more than one row z to aim for

There's an 8 page thread on here discussing new managers and the best we could come up with seems to be Steve McClaren, Mick McCarthy or 'someone Dutch'. I can imagine the first two having protests against them within 6 months, let alone two and a half years. Protesting against Randy seems a bit pointless as he wants to go, it's not as if he's clinging on to power. We've already signed one player in this window and it looks like we've been actively working in at least one other deal, so they are working hard to buy players to help Lambert get a better balance in the squad. I'd rather we did something funny than something that would harm the players when they need support.

I don't think they should be thinking about prophet at a time like this.

Whatever you think of Paul Lambert, at least he's not wasting the transfer window knocking around in Poland having lots of sex and getting pissed. FACT.

Huth would probably end up our top scorer with 4 goals to be fair.

Somebody made a valid point. It was you who decided to latch onto that and make a big deal out of it. Now you have your arse in your hand, for a change. You really need to chill out a wee bit.

This in the Daily Mail: 'Aston Villa have asked about a loan for Atletico Madrid winger Cristain Rodriguez, also the subject of interest from Crystal Palace and Sunderland.' http://www1.skysports.com/football/transfer-paper-talk They are a good side so perhaps we should loan 2 players from them?

My brilliant friends. They're planning a week-long trip around Iceland. I've kept on telling them that I can't afford it (I'm potless!) so now they're paying for me (spending money included if I need it). They've done it before right after a long trip to the US back in 2005. I got back, had a few pints and got told that I'm going to Poland and Slovakia (they knew I couldn't afford it). Cue an awesome trip and me paying them back long after. It's only happened again. One mate in particular (with his gf) is paying for me and it just so happens that both their birthdays fall whilst in Iceland. I've told them that as good friends that I can't owe lots of money over years but they're insisting on it. Now seeing as their birthdays both fall when away, I need awesome gifts!

Why do you feel the need to mock the way some people post? Seems strange to mock others, especially when you're stance is rarely supported with facts and evidence. You honestly can't see the satirical juxtaposition in the post?

Why do you feel the need to mock the way some people post? Seems strange to mock others, especially when you're stance is rarely supported with facts and evidence. We all agree on the facts. What we don't agree on is the reason behind those facts. Here is an example of a fact: We have only scored 11 goals this season. Here is an example of an opinion dressed up as a fact: The manager's tactics are so bad that we've only scored 11 goals this season.

Who is expecting a lot from him? The vast majority of posts I've seen in here are of people hopeful that he can come up good but not expecting immediate results. That and a few bizarre posts about how him leaving Valencia and signing for us somehow means he'll never be that good.

I love how people sometimes speak about footballers as if they proper know them personally, it almost sounds more like jealousy than anything else! All i can say in my defence is that i do not have abs, or a tan, or a model for a mrs!! I look like a silverback gorrila, with funny beard, who goes red in the sun and my mrs is irish and is not afraid to let me know it!!!!

Why can't we just support the **** team?? Every game this season sounds like a morgue. Yes the games are boring.. more reason to get pissed.. sing songs and create some noise. Instead of organising protests how about organising how to generate a positive supporting environment. Get behind them and don't just sit there quietly. I can't help but think when it gets quiet and awkward the players feel the tension and when they misplace a pass they hear groans. When I went to VP it was rocking and you just feel energised. The players feel that too. Players are finding it hard to get going but you can see their busting a gut. They need OUR support. Get Villa Park rocking and make it intimidating. Surely that's what fans should be doing.

This thread seems to be descending into lunacy. Benteke is currently mired in a slump, as is the case with the whole squad.. and now he is shit and we should get rid? Deary me...

I remain a big fan of Weimann. Despite our goal drought, every time he has come on we've had a few more chances purely because of the outstanding amount of work he puts in every time. He at least makes defenders work and that can create spaces for others. He's not an amazing finisher by any stretch but if he was playing in the right position he'd reliably be getting 10-15 goals a season. He is not a winger. He works harder, runs quicker and finishes better than Gabby these days.

Totally agree with that post. Personally I won't be protesting and I won't be turning up 8 minutes late and I don't boo and I won't chant anything anti Lambert. I want him gone asap but I don't think any of that is productive or helpful to the team. The simple sad truth is the fans are already voting with their feet / wallets. I shudder to think what season ticket sales will be like next season whatever league we are in. I've got two season tickets for my son and I and we will be there tomorrow but as I said in an earlier post I don't look forward to the games anymore. Dread was the word I think I used and I think it could get very ugly. Lambert, sadly given it started with so much promise, is a dead man walking.

I don't think any of us has any evidence that he's a piss poor manager. What we do have is evidence that his football team isn't playing very well. There's a big difference. If you like him, as you say, try a bit harder and I think you'll be able to find a few reasons why he hasn't had a fair crack of it so far. The team is playing very very poorly and the manager has to take his share of responsibility. Villa fans have endured 2.5 seasons of crap with the occasional bright spot whilst setting all sorts of unwelcome records. All the empirical evidence points to the fact he is a poor manager not least because we do not even do the basics right. As I have said a number of times on this thread the minimum I expected of Lambert was a well organised side that was difficult to beat. Sadly we are neither and maybe I am a little old fashioned in placing responsibility for coaching, tactics and formations with the manager. Now of course his supporters will always trot out the lack of transfer funds and wage caps argument which is fair but Lambert must have been aware of those when he took the job so your 'fair crack of the whip' argument is nonsense unless 2.5 seasons is too short a time to judge? I have no high expectations of what we can achieve under the current ownership regime and the long term solution is undoubtedly a new owner but that does not deflect from the managers obvious shortcomings. I was so pleased when he was appointed but he has been found out, the job is simply too big for him. Oh and thanks for the advice but I don't think I really want to try to like him harder, it won't change the simple fact of where we are and his capability in the role but if you want to like him even more....feel free.

He's shite. No improvement on a half arsed N'zogbia. Had about three good games at a time the media were falling over themselves to find anything good about Manchester United whilst all football fans were looking on with glee at their poor form. This lad put some good crosses in and beat his man a few times so became hyped up far far far beyond his ability. We already have a Van Gaal cast off wasting a space in our first team, please don't sign another one Paul. Playing for United at 18 years old and playing in a World cup. Yeah, total shite mate. A feat that Djemba x2 didn't complete until he was 21...

It's a meaningless statement intended to take pressure off his employer, but it is a fact. How could it not be a fact? You think he wants us relegated? Very strange. No I think he wants his investment to survive in the premier league without him spending much money. I think he's got his interests at heart, not us.

There once was this guy who worked for the Railroad as a conductor. Let's say his name was Joe. Well, Joe was walking through the train, en route, collecting tickets from the passengers. He comes to car 12, booth 3. In it was a man. So, he asked him for his ticket: "Excuse me sir, do have your ticket?" "Oh, I am soooo sorry, I dropped it out the window by accident," he replied. "Sorry sir, can't have any passengers without tickets." He grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and threw him out of the train. Well, he landed on the tracks and was run over by the train. Naturally, the conductor was arrested and thrown in jail. He was convicted of murder before a jury of his peers, and sentenced to death by electrocution. The day of his execution came up, and he was asked what he would like for his last meal. He asks for a banana. They gave it to him, he ate it, received his last rites, and was escorted to the chair. The executioner strapped him in, hooked everything up. Last, he threw the big switch once, and nothing happened. So, he did it again, and nothing happened. Well, by law the guy was legally dead, so they had to release him. Oddly enough, the guy got a job on another railroad, as a conductor! One day, he was gathering tickets, and came to a booth with a little boy. "Young man, do you have your ticket?", asked the conductor. "A-a-a, I'm sorry, I ate it by mistake..", said the little boy. And.. the same thing happened -- the boy was thrown off the train and killed. The guy was arrested, sentenced to death by electrocution. It came to him last day. The death row guard asked him what he would like for his meal. He asked for banana again. He ate it, and a priest gave him last rites. He was escorted to the death chamber. This time, though, they were smart. They washed his hands to get rid of any banana slime, they washed up the chair. Next, they placed him the chair, and hooked him up. The switch-puller pulled the switch once, and nothing happened. The switch-puller pulled the switch twice, and nothing happened, not even a single hair raising on the guy's chest. Well, as the law says, they had to let him go... Even more amazingly, he got a job on yet another railroad. This time it was a rabbi. Same old stuff. Rabbi had no ticket (he forgot to buy it). Guy threw him off the train, rabbi died. Guy was arrested, convicted, sentenced to death by electrocution. When the guard asked him what he would like for a last meal, he asked for a banana. He ate it, received last rites, and was escorted to the chamber. However, this time the officials where going to get it right! They scrubbed his body with a brillo pad. They scrubbed the chair with steel wool. They tried the chair on a few other prisoners... Okay, they strapped him in, and threw the switch once, nothing happened. Threw the switch a second time, nothing happened. At this point the guy was legally dead, etc, etc. But, before the guy could leave, the executioner, extremely frustrated (he'd seen this same guy three times already). asked, "What is it with the banana!" The guy replied, "I just like bananas." So, the executioner screamed, "THEN HOW COME YOU DON'T DIE!!!!!" "I dunno," replied the guy, "I guess I'm just not a very good conductor."
