  1. I've just voted 49ers and that has squared up the predictions 50:50. **** Ray Lewis, I think the man is a word removed and very lucky not to be doing natural life in a penitentiary. All this "Got God" shit is no different to the cynical angle a lot of cons take when trying to get parole. "Praise Jesus, I've seen the light. I was a bad man, now I acknowledge my sins and will lead a righteous life guided by the Lord". So, hopefully the 49ers send the **** off into the sunset with nothing but his past guilt and subsequent lies and hypocrisy.

  2. Ha, has Weimann become the new scapegoat? Keep yer heads on people. Everton are a good team and Fellaini is a nightmare to defend against. He's caused trouble to better defences than ours (all of them are better ...) There is no quick fix to the situation we're in and at the very least we need to be picking up points in games like this - away to the team fifth in the league. We had quality upfront and played well against a good team, that bodes well. There are positives to give us hope. It was so shit to let that last goal in but we are not doomed, we just have a massive end of the season ahead of us. As for Gary Gardner, again, come on people - he's being positive. There is nothing wrong with staying positive, it's a good sign that the players haven't given up yet. Some people go way too far into hysteria, in my opinion.

  4. I thought his full debut vs Sunderland was very impressive and he looks fairly good any time he's not lumped with 2 players' work (when Bannan is playing). Getting outplayed by Bradford in a competition Westwood was cuptied for is a bit of a stretch to blame on him IMO. Being 19th doesn't mean that none of our players are "any good", QPR are 20th and they've got good players coming out their arsehole.

  6. Pathetic, useless etc etc? That about sums up our fans. We have attributes in the team that will give us a very good chance of staying up. Everton are a good team nobheads. I'm as gutted as anyone but we've got fight, played well - things don't have to be all shit. Getting out of relegation is going to be tough but we can do it. More performances like that and we'll be good.

  10. "I'll tell you what. If I'm the San Francisco 49ers, I'm sick of Ray Lewis! This is NOT Ray Lewis' personal Super Bowl!" Boomer Esiason I take back all of the bad things I've ever said about you...well, most of them.

  11. No. He was found guilty of what he was charged with. His murder charge was subject to a plea bargain down to obstruction of justice in exchange for testimony against two people. They were found not guilty so the only guilty verdict associated with the incident is Ray Lewis.

  15. World Cup 2010 statistics said there was a goal every 70 corners during the competition. Conceding 1 in 20 is very poor by that comparison. (article) 2010/11 Premier League stats put Fulham as the kings of scoring from corners, scoring from 7% of their corner kicks, or (roughly) a goal from every 14 corners. That is exceptionally good, in fact it is absolutely outstanding when you compare it to the norm for the division. 20% of the teams in the division didnt score from a corner all season, including the team who finished 2nd so it's not like it was only shit teams who couldnt do it. The average for that season was somewhere between 1% and 2% (a goal every 100 corners and every 50 corners). By that measurement our ability to defend corners is very poor. Premier League only stats are good because it is a zero sum game, everybody in the study plays everybody else; and that seasons study says a team will score (and therefore another team will concede) from a corner about once every ten games. We have conceded 4 goals from corners in the last 8 league games according to the OP's stats. We conceded goals from corners in three consecutive games in the autumn. By that measurement our ability to defend corners is woeful. The OP stat is an interesting one but it offers no context. It's like that old joke from The Simpsons where Mr Burns dropped the 1000 gram weight on Homer's head and was disappointed it didn't kill him. "Damn metric booby traps,.It sounded like it should be heavier." **edit** source

  16. We are not in a good position though. The only person associated with Villa who would get anything out of Benteke being sold is Lerner because he'd be at least doubling what he paid for him. The money wouldn't be reinvested into the team properly and we'd end up with someone nowhere as good as his replacement! There is no silver lining!

  19. Ray Lewis stabbed 2 people to death...and got away with it. Baltimore took our team after crying when it happened to them. Art Modell moved his team, claiming financial problems, politicians who wouldnt help him and no desire to sell his team so that he could preserve his familys "legacy". He ended up selling the team after the move anyways. There are several Ohio State players on the 49ers F STDmore. GO NINERS! http://www.overthinkingit.com/2008/12/10/40-inspirational-speeches-in-2-minutes/

  22. For me, Baker is a CB plain and simple. If he could stay injury free along with Vlaar I think it's the way forward. He's a big lad and can really head the ball. when we have played him at LB in previous years he has been found seriously lacking in pace imo. anyway here's what I thought about yesterday.......now I've calmed down a bit!! Guzan - made some good saves. Ooozes determination. different class to Given on the last 2 years evidence imo. Bennett - was really poor again yesterday though. Dont get me wrong the lad applied himself and didnt just get mauled like when he was faced with Lennon. But he doesn't look ready yet (I'll not write him off forever just yet) and I saw someone say on another thread that we've won only one game he started this season - and that was when he got stretchered off at sunderland. Lichaj or Enda should be given a run - if nothing else to take bennett out of the firing line a bit. Clark - for me is going to end up a DMC like Barry. He also lacks the pace to be an effective LB and certainly doesn't have the physical presence to be a CB. Really poor game yesterday. Vlaar - was our best defender, which may not say alot! but better players than him have and will be caught out by a fellaini header from a baines corner. Wish he would concentrate on the ball a little bit more than the man at set pieces but without him we would have NO defence. Other than the 2 corners he's been at fault for (Bradford/Everton) what have people got to complain about with this guy? I don't get the criticism of him from some quarters. Lowton - great assist and application. Never seems to know whether to press the ball or stay in line for 2nd and 3rd phase attacks though. Decision making will need to improve with experience but I believe it will. KEA - Total passenger. Game completely passed him by. Westwood - GOOD GAME. not too much posession but great cross for Gabbys goal. He seems to me to be the only midfielder whose positioning is any good. closes down well, competative. Best performance Ive seen from him in claret and blue so far imho. Weimann - not his best game but not his worst. Gutting he wasnt on the near post for the corner though. could've won the game, chance was on his wrong foot. May not be "a winger" but runs good angles and is a handful for the opposition. Nzog - as someone else has said. Good first half, lost in the second. Great ball to Benteke for the first too. Gabby - We'd be SOOOOO **** without him. keep it up Benteke - There is nothing I need to say here. When his first touch improves he's going to be unstoppable. made Heitinga look like a Villa defender. subs: Sylla - came on for Nzog originally. Was visibly nervous. obviously told to patrol the half way line and close down in their half. I liked this and thought it was a good idea from Lambert in not putting too much pressure on him. KEA went off Sylla went back alongside Westwood, showed good application looked like he hadnt trained much with us tbh. As everyone said, hard to judge on a cameo. looks like a battler though Holman - Came on for KEA (did he get a knock?) totally ineffective - took over the Nzog/sylla role. Ran around and closed down as ever. cant remember him touching the ball Baker - came on for gabby at the death, mostly to run the clock down a bit add a bit of steel. shame he didnt double up on Fellaini in hindsight!! late sub not involved basically. All in all a heart breaking, spirit raising, bitterly crushing, moral boosting draw clutched from the jaws of victory. In the cold light of day though I gotta say they showed the fight they need for the run in. I'm starting to think 1 clean sheet from anywhere, anyhow would give the nippers so much self belief. Being 2 up and conceding 1 this team has just simply GOT to find "another gear" from somewhere. The equaliser was inevitable, and in truth we were lucky to come away with a point at the end. Everton are a good team and showed it. We weren't embarrased like we were at VP though. draw was probably a fair result overall. and yeah the ref was shit.

  24. http://youtu.be/mlTsRQyFk4c Forget the fact it was recorded on a phone by somebody in the crowd, the fact that you are probably listening to this on a laptop or the indecipherable lyrics because it's all about the SONIC BOOM! which happens a minute and a half in. The camera explodes after six minutes. For the full effect you will need about 20,000 watts of amplification or you could just pretend you are the guy in this gif. This gig is from 2008, I'd imagine those who made it out alive still have a ringing in their ears to this day.

  32. Be good that he get's a full week training with the team this week. Hopefully be raring to go against West Ham possibly. I didn't think KEA was as bad as some people have been making out today, thought he did quite well.

  34. we lost a 2 goal lead against a team fighting for the CL. teams lose 2 goal leads - it happens. we scored 3 good goals and we didn't look ready to crumble when every cross came in. their defence was at fault for gabby's goal - ours was at fault for theirs. normal football stuff. we didn't get out-played - we didn't get slaughtered - we didn't concede 8 goals. a draw away at everton has to be seen as positive.

  39. I don't think Reading will keep up this form. Southampton have a lot of tough fixtures. Think Wigan have finally had it. QPR are leaving it too late. This will go to the wire I think.

  41. There are other games where these comments may be fair enough, but they are other games. As regards this game, in its own right, we were a couple of minutes away from winning where only Chelsea have won all season, and ended up succumbing to late goals from one of the most settled teams (with the most partisan crowd) who specialise in late goals. Be pissed off, hate our position, whatever, but keep some perspective - any team in the country could have conceeded those goals. It is a good point which might be priceless come May.

  47. I think he's a better manager than the last 2 muppets but he needs to be backed by Lerner to have a chance of succeeding. This squad is relegation material, We can see it and hopefully Lerner/ Lambert can see it.
