  1. LERNER OUT It's unfair that Lambert take all the blame This spineless invertebrate deserves just as much abuse He hides away from the fans across the sea while we have to watch this shit week in week out Not good enough im afraid the current "Custodian" should be ashamed of himself

  2. I've seen some really bad things happen at Villa, in my time as a fan. Losses in league cups to lower league teams (Scunthorpe, Sheffield United) but I have never felt so deflated and depressed as I do at this moment. Don't get me wrong, Bradford deserve their massive achievement 100% and I wish them all the best for the final. But whilst this is their finest hour, this is also my clubs darkest hour and I am not sure we can pull this around in time to save our premiership status. It is easy to put the blame on people, O'Neill, McLeish, Houllier or even Lambert (who isn't faultless when it comes to tactics). But we really need to look at the build up to today, and the little things that have happened to cause such an incredible drop over the past three years. From the moment he took over as the custodian, Lerner stated that he would do everything to achieve the goals he had for Villa and the ultimate aim was champions league football. The first three years were incredible, we saw a league cup final, three 6th place finishes, inspirational moments and a team that looked well on its way to being something special. All of a sudden Lerner decided he could no longer afford to support the wage bill, finance high earning players or make any large investment in the team. With this O'Neill stepped down and the motion was set in place. Now, what I do not get is for a man who came in saying he had a 5 year plan, why did he not have this plan worked out so that the investment was steady, why did he let things run riot, how did he not notice there was a problem sooner? Well, I think he made the gamble that we would get champions league football and when that failed he just cut funding dead, on the spot, gave in with the avalanche plan and looked to recoup costs. OUCH! Everybody knows what happens when you try to stop a runaway train, you get a derailment and mass casualties. Players were sold, they were not replaced with quality, managers came and went for high fee's - it felt like names were being pulled out of a hat and given a chance to manage us. From Houllier to McLeish, how can any person of logic make this choice? These appointments were like chalk and cheese, you cannot go from one set of ideals to another and expect miracles. We have been badly run, from the top for the past three years. And just like the minor success we had with the over-the-top investment, there is a disaster around the corner waiting for us if we do not put this right with investment in the team. This team, over the past three years has had its heart ripped out, it is now lifeless and drifting into the championship. We need to invest in quality, players who can change games and make things happen, we miss Milner, Barry, Young and Downing and there are no players at this club who can change a game. I cannot see this happening though, Nero is fiddling whilst Rome is burning and with just nine days to put things right, a restriction on wages, a lack of quality is going to see us have some very dark days at this club. All thanks to the errors made right at the top.

  6. Right, now you go and find me where Lerner, Lambert and journos have said there is nothing to spend. In fact only a day or two ago Pat Murphy said the opposite, as have Nursey and a few others and that's just the ones I'm aware of and I dont pay that much attetion to the press. I dont expect you to trust me and quite frankly it doesn't bother me. I just know that what I've been told is solid and more reliable than any journalist or fantasist.

  8. Not really, the club has been in a massive decline for 3 seasons now. We've been knocking closer on the door of relegation each time. Quite a few players left at the end of last season and the squad has needed major investment - far, far more than 20m, imo. We knew that a core of the team with likes of Herd, Bannan, Lichaj, Stevens, Delph etc were Championship quality at best and it's inevitably where we'd be heading without genuine quality. It costs money.

  17. We need all four sides of the ground standing and everyone, even those of you who choose not to sing usually, to give the lads our vocal backing tonight for 90 minutes. I watched the Blackburn Villa-Park semi last night and we were loud, but only on occasions and we STILL let how the team was playing on the pitch determine how vocal we were. We can get away with that against a poorly supported club like Blackburn. We cannot do that tonight! Bradford have almost 7,000 fans and will be singing all night long - they have nothing to lose - this is their cup final tonight and they are well up for it!! We need to forget the negative thoughts, and forget anything else that has happened this season. We need to drown out the Bradford fans and inspire and roar our lads on to victory - whatever course the game chooses to take. The Holte and lower north will all stand - we need the Trinity and Doug to follow suit and create a hostile atmosphere like Bradford did at VP. We have 90 minutes to turn this around. 90 minutes to make a difference. That difference could be the fine line between another Wembley cup final, or not. It could even be the fine line between turning our season around, or not. I hope every Villa fan inside that ground tonight chooses to make a difference. If they do, we have a bloody good chance. Come on the Villa boys!

  19. I think you completely misunderstood what he meant. Lambert will deserve credit yes, absolutely. He will have achieved the task set before him. Do I think the board deserve credit? Well that's hard for me to admit. I'm far too emotive when it comes to such things. Will I admire their balls? In a way, yes. Obviously I struggle with the concept of them "gambling" with our near future in such a way and I absolutely agree they got us into this mess. So I carry a certain bitterness towards them for it. However, as Blandy says if it comes off and we do push on as I absolutely believe is the intention, then I will likely admit some congratulations towards them yes. It's a bold move. One I would never personally make.

  20. I want a swift take over to ease the financial trouble then I want mid table Championship mediocrity this season. Next season a tilt at the playoffs, getting to the final and losing. Then the new owners reveal they are just as financially **** as the current lot, with more fire sales and misery for all concerned. You become numb to constant pain, it eases after a while. Having a hope and then having it crushed hurts so much more. That's what I want for SHA a constant cycle of raised expectations and crushing reality checks.

  23. I really don't think he has a clue. Before the 1st leg it was blatently obvious set peices were going to be key, yet we still let in 3 all from corners. Then again today, despite the warnings from the 1st leg, clearly nothing was done to change this. It's unforgivable and it's not just against these. It feels like we let in a goal from a set peice every week now. When we had to chase the game he didn't know what to do. Bringing on 2 strikers and sticking all 4 of them on the same blade of grass doesn't work. Though both full backs were shocking today, does Lambert tell them they aren't allowed past the half way line or is that a choice of their own?

  24. What have we learned from that game? - We need more creativity in midfield. - And more defensive strength. - We don't have enough quality CB's who are fully fit. All of which we knew before the start of January. So what, in the name of all that's holy, are you playing at Mr Lerner? But don't worry, the heat will be directed at Paul Lambert because we're all full of ideas when it comes to pointing out bad tactical decisions (less good at understanding why our brilliant ideas might not be so good after all, but never mind).

  25. I have to say I wouldn't exactly be feeling inconsolable if Lambert was sacked as long as we get a replacement in sharpish. He had enough money in the summer to bring in 4 or 5 decent players. Instead he spunked away cash on the likes of Lowton, Bennett, Bowry and, El Amahdi. Benteke and Vlaar are good. Still undecided on Westwood. He let Collins and Cuellar go (he could have done a Guzan with him with ease). All those fans bitching about Richard Dunne not being good enough. Well how we could have done with him over the last few weeks. We miss our captain big time (Get well soon Stan). We're just a total mess at the minute. Our midfield is lighter than the contents of an inflated balloon. Bannon, although I had high hopes for him at one point is just NOT GOOD ENOUGH. He's far too light weight and too many times I see him getting brushed off the ball like he isn't there. Delph? How can I give my opinion on him without using tonnes of swear words? Very **** difficult I'm afraid. He's complete and total **** shite and should be embarrassed to pick up his weekly pay check of about 30k or whatever. I bet he's too rich to be embarrassed or even give a slight **** about Villa. **** him. Send him back, We'd be lucky to get 8p for him never mind the £8 milliion we donated to Leeds for his lack of services. We were pretty decent in the first half tonight. You'd expect no less playing against a team in the 4th tier and who cost considerably less. By a long long way. However in the 2nd half, they got a a corner. We defended it poorly. Benteke nodded it out rather uncomfortably for their 2nd corner in a row. Then it was somewhat inevitable that they scored from this. Vlaar of all people guilty as sin (though I'll give him a by ball since he's only back from injury and is usually very good). The 2nd half was a total shambles. Did anyone notice that when we had the ball in midfield out players were quite literally saying 'Well what the **** am I supposed to do now'? when the had the ball? Really? I mean they actually did look like they'd never played football in their **** lives. It was a total disgrace and they should all hang their heads in shame. They are making a laughing stock of our great club. The only players who deserve any credit for having any ounce of desire to win tonight were Ireland, Benteke and Wieman when he came on. No one else seemed to give a flying fiddler's **** including Gabby of all people (as far as I could tell). It's hard to see how we pick ourselves up from here. I personally feel that getting completely dicked on by Chelsea, Spurs, Wigan, Southampton and BRADFORD CITY is too much to take. LAMBERT MUST GO. Bring in someone new in the next week and they might be able to attract one or 2 players. If not then who in the name of good **** would want to come to Villa at the minute? Our relegation seems inevitable at this rate unless something changes, very ,very quickly

  28. What on earth does Paul Lambert & Culverhouse tell these players to do at half time?
    1 point
  29. Let me explain it, simply. We can't defend corners. We have a manager who thinks chucking on all the strikers and resorting to long-ball football is a winning tactic against a league 2 team who make a living out of defending long ball football. We only play for 45 minutes. That just about covers it.

  30. i'm still not in the lambert out camp, the damage was done in the first leg in a lot of ways. however, the second half was hideous, after the goal from a set piece (AGAIN) we lacked any kind of shape. you could see at times the players had no **** clue what their roles should be on the pitch and that was lamberts fault. again, seems they prepared well on the training ground producing yet another good first half display, yet again we unravel after a goal against us from a set piece. this was happening before lambert, it happened under mcleish and it happened under houllier. this set piece thing is insane and the insanity is running into it's third season. this is a very big low for us out of something that at half time coudl have been a big plus had we taken even just one more of the chances we created in the first half. after they scored we were absolutely horrendous to watch, by the time weimann came on we had no formation to speak of at all. repeating myself a bit but that is lamberts fault and he's panicked as much as our playing staff there really. i started this off saying i'm not in the lambert out camp yet and i'm still not. paying off another manager, getting a new one in zero time and trusting him to spend some cash and saving us just doesn't look realistic to me .this shoudl convince PL, and that clearing in the woods faulkner that investment is needed. i still think long term PL can build something here and after tonight all the mistakes of the last few years have come home to roost. it's time to draw a line under it, but we can't fully do that till warnock, hutton, dunne, ireland and maybe a couple of others are off the payroll. it's going to be a long hard season from here but sacking PL isn't the answer to our problems. the MON/RL/Faulkner hangover isn't over yet so we're going to have to get used to the fact that this is going to be a long road out of the shit and keep the faith a bit.

  31. That second half was a total joke. We were creating chances from our wide players so Lambert pulls them off and packs the D with strikers. From then on it is just diagonal long balls into the mixer for 35 mins. Bradford had little trouble dealing with that. Some Lambert's 'tactics' have been woeful in his time here. Utterly woeful.

  41. I want them to get relegated again. I don't want to see them go out of business, I want them to shrink to a Walsall sized club. No offence to Walsall, I just want the noses to be one of the minnow teams of the Midlands. They were quick enough to plunder Oxford a few years back when they spunked all their money on a new stadium. I hope their least shit players are all poached before the end of the window. And I'd take Davies off their hands at the moment, for about £1m...
