There is no asterisk in the records referring to luck. It's a natural part of the game, that every team is gifted with.....We could be deemed lucky in 1982 too. but I don't think any other team, is bothered by it.....they just accept it....so should we.

I can't recall exactly where; it might have been Guillem Bllague; but someone said quite categorically - Emery would only leave Villa for Real or Barca, with Athletico Madrid a possibility.

Does anyone know the difference in prize money between qualifying for the Champions League vs Europa League? How would we look for FFP this summer for both scenarios?

I've seen a couple of posts from them saying how "smalltime" it'd be if we did a bus parade if we went all the way and won the Conference League. Aside from the obvious, being that they're the experts in all things small time, a few points: 1) I'm sure they'd all give their extra fingers to just be in the Premier League for starters, let alone finish high enough in the table to qualify for the Conference League. 2) As above, it's a difficult competition to qualify for in the first place. Finishing top 6/7 in the Premier League is no easy task. 3) There's some bloody tough teams in this competition. Ajax, Lille, Olympiakos, Fiorentina, Fenerbahce - not teams to be sniffed at, especially away from home. 4) It doesn't matter whether it's a "new" competition or not. 5) Mate

If it was TalkSport, you can go ahead and ignore it.

I was confused about the second yellow too, as I didn’t know the rule about them resetting after the 90/120mins. So essentially he was booked, then that game was over, then during the penalties he was booked again. Although I don’t agree with why he was booked, I understand it. What I don’t get is why some seem to think he will miss the SF first leg? Is that because of the total yellows accrued to this point, because I thought they reset after the QFs? Or is it because two yellows in one game, usually equals a red, and therefore he misses a game…? Because that can’t be the case either, because the first yellow was done, then expired. Then the second yellow was done, but they don’t equal a red, so why would he miss a game? there’s probably something obvious I’m missing but I don’t get why Emi would miss a game?

Curious to see what the future holds for him. Wouldn't surprise me to see him sold in the summer because I feel that given the CM issues we've had, we would have seen more of him if Emery rated him.

I guess Carlos will come back in but wary that he struggled in the away game. Cash surely can't start again though. Think we need our best team out there, try and get a fast start and then make changes 2nd half if need be. Emi Konsa, Carlos, Torres, Digne Tielemans, McGinn Bailey Rogers Diaby, Watkins Cash, Tim, Zaniolo and Duran to come on

In the past 11 months alone they have gone from definitely building a new North Stand, to Heck saying a new stand is 'a bad idea' and 'we are adding too many seats too fast' to appointing stadium construction experts to the Board. And we have gone from saying goodbye to the 'Lerner badge' to having a new round badge to well actually no, we are not keeping that round badge and we are going back to a shield. If they go back to straightforward clear comms people will take them at their word and I will be the the first ti applaud them for it. People don't like being b.S ted.

Under SAF United gave him full control of everything. Since he left they are restricting their managers responsibilities more and more. I think it’s a sign of the times really. Big clubs don’t like the idea of 1 person having so much power. It’s really difficult to predict how Liverpool will cope post Klopp. Can they recruit the right manager, and then also replace key players who hit the ground running against the backdrop of high expectations? It’s a tall order and rarely, if ever, happens.

Brinkmanship, gamesmanship, call it what you will....its ok by me. **** housery is what Vinnie Jones used to do, and few others....Emi does not do that. Players have a responsibility, in high stakes games, to be mentally prepared....That's what makes champions, and leaves others behind. What Emi does, is challenges the mental resilience and eks out mental frailty in the opponents.....tangibly its innocuous, but when a player has to take a penalty, with such high stakes, a butterfly passing randomly can be enough to put them off. Emi should not be punished, for their mental frailty, he is just exercising his right to challenge it, in much of the time, a passive way. We shouldn't be put off by the cancel culture in football.

Bournemouth always have impressed me in a limited times I have seen them this season. One of our toughest away games. Solanke is one of the best strikers in the league. Our players must be tired so fatigue will set in but on the other end, that penalty shootout win lifts the confidence and the players must be on cloud 9 right now. So its hard to call. Win would be a massive step towards securing 4th.

I have mixed feelings on this because like most things this government touch it’ll lead to widespread suffering no doubt I know family members that absolutely take the piss with sick leave. My mother in law will regularly take several weeks off because she feels like a break. The GP’s just can’t be arsed to challenge it (and she knows it). She has a colleague/friend who is equally piss taking. Shes currently on a 7 week break which started because they asked her to do something she doesn’t usually do when someone else was on holiday. She’ll take the first week (self certifying), then book appointment with GP and complain of stress. GP issues 2 week sick-note and before she leaves she’ll make another appointment for the day it expires to get it renewed. I’d estimate she has a sickness rate of about 20-25% as she just plays the system when she wants a few weeks off. Theres definitely room in the current process to get work shy people back to work and not clog up GP diaries, I doubt this government know how to do it safely though.

Kosta has been injured ever since he signed for Villa, which is very unfortunate. Hopefully he'll be learning English (if he didn't already speak it well) and I wouldn't bet against Unai sending him a few hundred gigabytes of tactical videos to pore over. I highly doubt Kesler-Hayden will be at Villa for the long term, Nedeljkovic already seems to have a lot more of what Emery is looking for (pace, height, physicality, decision making).

The thing is that now Emi can do nothing and people will still think that he's got something going on or is about to do something. When doing nothing is enough to rattle people you've got it made.
-
That's a really good point. All the focus is on him, the other players can just get on with scoring their penalties.
